Liz earle brightening mask

£10.25 for 50ml

light fresh scent

clay type mask but does not set hard

you only leave on for a max of 2 mins

fantastic I had a sample of this and used after being ill with winter vomiting bug rolled up with a cold. My skin looked grey and ashen but this really helped will buy full size when sample used up.

I'll also add that I am 48 so skin requires all the help it can get!!!!

This is good because you only leave on for max of 2 mins so great if short on time ie toddler swinging around your leg at the time!!!!!

Mudd mask sensitive sachets - about £1.50 in Boots?

Great for spotty days. Made of clay, smells of clay. Will dry your skin out a bit but definitely gives you a lift.

firstmum45 · 27/12/2007 17:31

Another I use is

Anew Ultimate lift transforming mask for 40+ skin.

£12.00

Thick cream that changes colour when you rub it in.

leave on for ten mins good results I use twice a week.

Used to be a bit of a cosmetic snob ie never touch avon with a barge pole but some of their anew stuff for mature skin is just as good as stuff 2 or 3 times the price.

Again I add have 48 year old skin suffering from lack of sleep etc etc all that goes with looking after a nearly three year old!!!!!

Lush fresh facemasks (£7.45/100 ml)-- I'm not a big user of facemasks but my sis got me one called Crash Course in Skincare for Christmas; it smelled great (has sandalwood, lemongrass and lavender oils in it) fairly thick textured, left it on for 10 mins and skin felt really dewy afterwards.

AmersG · 27/12/2007 21:48

I agree with firstmum45 about the Liz Earle Brightening Treatment.

The other mask I use is Intensive Nourishing Treatment Mask by Liz Earle also.

50ml & muslin cloth £11

It is only lightly scented

It feels nice and thick even if you don't use alot and sinks in the areas where you need it.

It has shea butter in it so your skin feels really moisturised afterwards not all dry and tight like some masks make my skin. You just put it on and leave for 15 mins max and remove with the muslin cloth you get with it.

this is up for a very unfortunate thtread juxtaposition......

Liz Earle Brightening thingumy gets my vote

It's the only one I have ever used that hasn't made me all red afterwards.

OliviaMumsnet · 28/12/2007 17:35

Sorry am no use in this category at all. Never use 'em tbh.

PrismManchip · 28/12/2007 17:43

Burt's Bees orange oil cleanser mask thingy, £11.50 a tube
has no crap in it
You slather it on, rub in, leave for a bit, and it kind of warms your face and leaves it very dewy
It smells divine
Good for dry skins
My tube lasted a year, used once or twice a week, so good value I think.

I love Dr H's rose day cream. I love Dr H actually. But have never used his face mask, or anybody elses. Not much help.

Lauriefairycake · 28/12/2007 21:30

Elemis Lavender repair mask
Rosemary, Thyme and Lavender essential oils
£23 from QVC (come with free papaya peel)
Warming effect, doesn't set or go tight and washes off

Really lovely mask, very clearing, results even better the next day as seems to 'even out' skin tone somewhat

I once went to a really posh facialist about 5 years ago and she applied 4 masks during the facial (and extraction) so I went and bought all of them last year (updated versions) and did it on my friend along with lots of different serums and moisturisers and plenty of massage- had an amazing effect, literally turned round her skin - can't do it as well on me but seriously thought about doing it properly (bit too old for beauty school though)

Pannacotta · 28/12/2007 22:01

Liz Earle and Dr H for me too, one of the DrH maskes got a mention in the sunday papers, think it was the revitalising mask.

can anyone recommend one for my skin which has erupted over the festive season due to over consumption of lager and Quality Street?

My chin has the look of a deep pan pepperoni

I used to use an Origins one, black clay or something

atm I use a Boots one, will find it

Twinkie1 · 02/01/2008 14:10

Is there one for extracting little blocked open poor thingys on nose?

Use the clay ones normally but they strip bloody everything out of skin and make it red and sore - clean but red and sore!

Simple face mask

Price - about £4, I think..?
Scent - not perfumed (not coloured...just kind )
Texture & application - texture of a mud mask, but it's white. Feels lovely on, as it doesn't dry and crack, it stays moist. Tells you to leave it on for 3 mins, but you I leave it for closer to 10 mins and it works wonders.
Effect: - really nice, gentle but deep cleansing effect. Good for dry or greasy skins (I have combination).

Only downside is it comes in quite a small tube.
