Do people wear necklaces to bed?

Hi, quick one: do you wear necklace to bed? I ordered a gorgeous piece from aurum and grey- little gold chain with 2 tiny letters for my kids names. I work from home and with covid I don’t go out anymore so if I only wear it “out” then I won’t wear it at all! And it’s expensive so would love to wear it al the time. What do others do?

@crazyjinglist

I don't understand why you wouldn't just put it on and then take it off at night. It's no more effort than taking clothes or shoes off and putting them on!
Because people don't want to / can't?
Tee20x · 18/01/2022 20:23

Never take my necklace off. Ever.

KatherineJaneway · 18/01/2022 20:24

Not me

Sorry - I didn't mean people who want to keep it on or can't take it off. I meant the OP, who said she knows she'd end up not bothering because it's a hassle to take it on and off!

AllThingsServeTheBeam · 18/01/2022 20:39

Do you know what annoys me everytime I do take my necklace off? When you drop one end and the pendant or whatever is on there comes off the bloody chain and bounces into hiding

slipperyeel · 18/01/2022 21:06

I take my watch off but wear a pendant, 3 rings, 6 chain bracelets and 7 earrings to bed every night. Sounds like a lot but have never really thought about it!!

noodlezoodle · 18/01/2022 21:27

I'm a bit Shock that some people are able to sleep with a watch on!

That's the point of most smart watches. The track your sleep
Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 18/01/2022 21:40

Yes. I have a fine platinum chain with pear shaped diamond cluster pendant. Wear it all tge time, swimming, shower, bed. It's insured so yeah.

CamomileTeabag · 18/01/2022 21:40

I used to as a teen but they'd get tarnished from going in the shower
Costume jewellery yes, but not silver and gold which benefit from being worn constantly.

I wear silver mostly, apart from a gold wedding and eternity ring. Necklace, bracelets, rings. Never take any of them off apart from the wedding and engagement rings when I'm in reading dough or gardening! Nothing tarnishes.

I do take earrings out for sleep though (I wear danglies).

switswoo81 · 18/01/2022 21:45

I definitely couldn't wear anything like that in bed. It would drive me mad around my neck or earrings would irritate me. I think I'm very sensitive to sensory things like that I find Pyjama bottoms restrictive.

Someaddedsugar · 18/01/2022 21:48

I have an A+G initial necklace and haven’t taken it off in over a year. I love wearing it.

MedusasBadHairDay · 18/01/2022 23:40

@Karenetta

Aren't you worried about strangulation or decapitation?
It's a necklace not razorblades 😂
Bluemamma · 19/01/2022 07:30

@Someaddedsugar that’s what I’m getting :)
@Karenetta no, I’m not worried a necklace will chop my head off no :)

I always wear my necklace, bracelet and rings to bed. I only take out my earrings.

Someaddedsugar · 19/01/2022 07:33

@Bluemamma the initials are small enough that they don't get in the way if that makes sense, but big enough to feel like you're obviously wearing jewellery. I keep mine on all the time and then layer it with other jewellery when I fancy putting on other bits and pieces. I have shoulder length hair and haven't had any issues with it while I'm sleeping either.

megletthesecond · 19/01/2022 07:33

Yes. Always. Fitness watch and a necklace.

247SylviaPlath · 19/01/2022 17:47

2 silver necklaces never come off (layered - one from dh one from dd) unless I wear something different for a day / evening when they go back on at the end of the day /evening. Engagement and wedding rings always on too. Earrings I don’t like keeping in all the time only cause I always feel they dig in when I’m trying to get comfortable in bed (like a princess according to dh)

247SylviaPlath · 19/01/2022 17:49

The reason I don’t take them off btw is cause my cacky arthritic old hands can’t do it easily, so on they stay!

Angel2702 · 19/01/2022 17:51

I only take my necklaces off to change them. Same with earrings and rings. I only take my watch off in bed and that’s only because it needs charging.

janedani · 19/01/2022 17:52

I always take my necklaces off for bed, I used to work in a jewellers shop and I rember the jeweller telling me that he always advised taking jewellery off at night so it gets "half the wear".

Agadorsparticus · 19/01/2022 17:55

The only time I take jewellery off is my watch before the bath/shower. Always wear my rings, necklace, earrings and watch otherwise I'd likely lose them.

Cas112 · 19/01/2022 17:56

If I forgot about it yes, some times I will feel agitated with it on so take it off

ClariceQuiff · 19/01/2022 17:58

Yes, I keep my necklace and bracelet on all the time. They're quite thick silver links so don't tangle.

Lulu1919 · 19/01/2022 18:01

I have a gold chain with a st. Christopher that never leaves my neck ...hasn't left my neck since I was bought it by my husband over 30 years ago
