Curly girl hairdresser in London...recommendations please

I'm in North London and someone to do a home visit would be ideal although would travel for the right hairdresser

I have loose, fairly fine curls. It's really long as I haven't let anyone near me with a pair of scissors in many years!! But my hair is feeling very lank and frizzy now and I just need a boost. TIA x

Joshua Altback in NW6 - he cuts Jewish hair all day long so is an absolute genius with a curl. He won’t be quick or cheap but if you’re really curly you probably only need to see him a couple of times / year

Curly Hair London on Denmark Street. Seriously, best cut ever. When I was living abroad, I would fly back for a haircut!

puppystress · 01/01/2022 14:08

From reading the website this looks absolutely what I am looking for.

Unfortunately they aren't taking any bookings until February 😫

Thank you

The Web page doesn't mention any curly girl method which worries me...I have had too many disasters with haircuts I need to be 100% sure they are doing the right cut. Have you personally had your hair cut by him?

Me? By Josh? Yes for many years. He takes his own sweet time with each cut and is bloody brilliant.

Unruly curls in w11.
I know they say they are booked forever (which they are) but if you’re flexible you can pick up a cancellation. Good luck!

Thesheerrelief · 01/01/2022 14:39

Another recommendation for Unruly Curls.

Sorry yes, quote fail! Thanks for verifying. Will look into him and also unruly curls.

Thanks all

This may not be exactly what you're looking for OP but it might be worth having a chat with Mark Anderson, he's a problem solver. I've had lifelong dead straight, soft, flat, bulky hair. Mark pointed out previously undetected waves and cut to suit (notably he wasn't afraid to take bulk away from the interior), now my hair is very wavy. Recommended him to a friend with straight (albeit frizzy), thinning, dry hair, now she has glossy curls. Unless you have a short cut that requires regular maintenance to keep a certain shape, cuts take ages to grow out. I haven't had my hair cut since the summer and I'm due to go back in February but hair looks good so I might reschedule.

Idk if he would describe himself as adhering to any particular method (ie CG) but he has insisted on cowashing for both of us, which has transformed our hair.

He sounds like a miracle worker!

I justvwant my curls to be more defined and for the cut to have a bit of shape. Atm it's very long and just hangs there. I need a very low maintenance cut. Sounds like he'd know what to do! Thanks will check him out x

I'm off to see her for the first time at the end of January!

Curl Talk in east London is great. Plus they’re really nice! But you book 2 months in advance, although you can ask to be notified of any cancellations.

wonderspread · 02/01/2022 00:30

Also unfortunately, a lot of the curly specialists get booked up in advance, it’s hard to get a quicker appointment most of the time (IME).

Ha it looks like that Grin but it will be just for the next 2 months. Every 1st of the month, the appointments for 2 months’ time are released at 8pm. So eg Jan 1st at 8pm, all of the March appointments are released; then Feb 1st for April appointments; and so on.
wonderspread · 02/01/2022 01:24

PS enjoy your appointment! Smile

puppystress · 02/01/2022 01:31

Oh I see ... I did wonder!

Thanks and I really hope I don't regret it...I swore 5 years ago i would never ever let anyone near my hair again...and this is a hundred quid so I am apprehensive to say the least...
