Wearing lilac

I'm tempted by lilac but wondering if I'm way off the mark for my colouring.
I'm super pale, dark hair, green eyes.
In terms of seasons I'm most definitely an autumn who looks best in greens and browns, rusty reds.
Do you think Lilac would wash me out?
Who looks good in lilac?

Could be! It’s impossible to tell for sure online. Even the Kettlewell ice colours are not ice but pastel.

Shortpoet · 31/12/2021 16:24

My recommendation to start with TP is Mort.

Don’t start with the first discworld book the Colour of Magic as it isn’t his best.

GranolaHolmes · 31/12/2021 16:26

I will report back here if I come across anything icy lilac but can't think where I've seen any.

I don't know what season I am (fair skin, auburn hair, hazel eyes), but I had a favourite lilac top when younger I paired with a lilac paisley scarf and always got compliments. I've just bought a lilac based scarf in the Liberty sale so will be wearing that, though with a deeper colour top than lilac.

I'd say Guards, Guards. But I would, wouldn't I?

...and just to say glad the OP is taking the intrusion into her S&B thread so well.Grin

Yes I've been personally derailed and gone oft to listen to samples on audible. 😆

You don’t have to go ‘full’ lilac though, it came up on my colour chart but agreed it would look better as a pattern or accent colour like a bag. I’m not sure I could wear a full top or dress of lilac without feeling like Mrs Slocombe Grin

I look good in lilac! Panatone if the year is a purple blue. I just bought a dusty muted purple sweat shirt from hush.

@Bluntness100

I’m not a fan of lilac to be honest,it’s one of those really dated colours you seldom see much anymore on anyone. But if you like it go for it. You probably will suit it, but personally lilac for me, in clothes or decor isn’t very nice.
Where have you been for the last year? Lilac and shades around it have been everywhere this year, particularly in the spring/summer.
GranolaHolmes · 31/12/2021 18:23

Yup, there was a big lilac and pistachio trend going on.

It's taken all year to permeate my consciousness enough to consider it.

Lavender no, dusky lilac yes. Especially if you have copper flecks in your green eyes and can use a copper accent in the outfit.

GranolaHolmes · 31/12/2021 18:28

Is there a difference between lilac and lavender or same words for the same colour?

PraiseBee · 31/12/2021 18:40

I'm a summer and look good in lilac. My best colours are pale blues, pinks and lilac. I have a fair complexion. I think if you're an autumn colours palette then lilac won't suit you

Itsnotdeep · 31/12/2021 18:50

I'm a winter and it's one of my colours - I have dark hair, olive skin and dark eyes. I don't wear it often, but it does suit me (am wearing an American Vintage lilac top right now...)

Itsnotdeep · 31/12/2021 18:51

I think the shade is Iced Lavender on the HoC colour swatch!

Yes, lilac is paler, like the colour in the Hush jumper in your link. Lavender is brighter, a lighter shade of purple.
GranolaHolmes · 31/12/2021 19:14

Ok think I've got it.

The verdict is that it's really a very pretty colour on me and makes my eyes look very green. Very interesting indeed.

It was this top and I've been wearing the mole coloured one to death so I think the lilac one will become a new favourite.
