Wearing lilac

I'm tempted by lilac but wondering if I'm way off the mark for my colouring.
I'm super pale, dark hair, green eyes.
In terms of seasons I'm most definitely an autumn who looks best in greens and browns, rusty reds.
Do you think Lilac would wash me out?
Who looks good in lilac?

"Nobody looks good in bloody lilac. Give your head a wobble woman !"

My brain also tells me this. Grin fuck it though, I'm going to try it and see.

I’m a summer and lilac was recommended to me. It’s better on cool tones but if it’s not too much and not too close to your face it might be ok? Eg as an accent colour or colour in a pattern, rather than full lilac dress/top.

AnguaResurgam · 31/12/2021 15:33

De rigueur on 25 May

BusterGonad · 31/12/2021 15:35

Just get it. Wear it with pride, you can always adjust your make up accordingly. I like both the jumpers to be honest. I'm sat here in a pale dusky pink wooly cardigan. And I love it.

Shortpoet · 31/12/2021 15:39

There’s not a true lilac in the autumn colour pallet. But there are some gorgeous dusky purples and periwinkle blues that would be worthy trying.

Ah no softpoet, if I remember correctly I was a soft blue autumn.
Does this change things? A quick google tells me it does.

I bought a really gorgeous jumper in the sale that is lilac, I was doubtful about the colour at the time, but it was a lovely style and fit, I should have listened to my instinct, I have never worn it I just feel uncomfortable in it because of the colour, it feels wrong and yes dated.

FindingMeno · 31/12/2021 15:53

I'm very similar to you, op, in my colouring and current wardrobe colour choices.
I'm afraid I wouldn't even consider lilac.

FindingMeno · 31/12/2021 15:56

But I look at your links and see heather.
Which I think would work, and now I fancy trying!

Ahh but you can cover it with the towel you are carrying.

Granola the lilac on the 25th May is a Terry Pratchett reference and my towel comment follow up a Douglas Adams reference.

GranolaHolmes · 31/12/2021 16:06

Ah nice Smile

Shortpoet · 31/12/2021 16:06

I’ve not heard of a soft blue autumn.

In the system I’m familiar with there is a soft autumn which is duskier than true autumn. (Sits between true autumn and soft summer).

And dark autumn which is bolder and slightly cooler than true autumn and sits between True autumn and dark winter.

(Think if it as a continuum
Bright spring
True spring
Light spring
Light summer
True summer
Soft summer
Soft autumn
True autumn
Dark autumn
Dark winter
True winter
Bright winter

That would make sense as I'm also finding I'm able to wear silver well

OP posts:
GranolaHolmes · 31/12/2021 16:13

I definitely need more terry pratchett knowledge.
Everything I have heard or read I've enjoyed.
Best place to start? Beginning of discworld?

Shortpoet · 31/12/2021 16:14

I think a dusky heathered lilac or periwinkle would look lovely on you.

Don’t go for a cool ice lilac (but if you find one let me know as a winter I’m hunting for it but things I find are either too dusky pastel or too spring warm!)

RedHot22 · 31/12/2021 16:16

I think the ‘trendier’ word for lilac is lavender.
