Is it my tiny gappy teeth or thin lips?

toastlover100 · 27/12/2021 23:36

There is something that makes me very self conscious about my toothy smile.

I always avoid showing any teeth in photos, and all along I have been thinking it is their small size and gaps that are the problem. Now I am wondering if it is actually my thin upper lip?

Does anyone have any solutions?

Is it my tiny gappy teeth or thin lips?

You have a lovely smile! You have a very happy, friendly, kind face and I bet your eyes are very smiley too Smile Please don’t mess about with fillers, you look great!

BiscuitLover3678 · 29/12/2021 12:47

You have great teeth

Shimy · 29/12/2021 12:48

@OP there's nothing wrong with your smile at all.You have a great smile and nice teeth, not remotely 'toothy'. It's all in your head! if you want to see a 'toothy' smile come and see mine, and I'm very proud of my toothy smile.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 29/12/2021 12:48

Like everyone else and their maw has said you are beautiful just as you are.

I believe most people are drawn to a genuine smile and a bit of a twinkly eye or combination thereof.

As someone who has a face that belongs in the dark, I see beauty everywhere. Folk may think they could improve this or that but in reality, I really believe that few need it.

There is more beauty in a face with wrongly perceived imperfections than an immovable coupon.

I too have tiny teeth. It matters not when they live in a smile.

Mabelface · 29/12/2021 12:55

You have the type of smile and face that would make me think that you're a bloody lovely person. So warm and friendly. Don't change anything, you're perfect and beautiful as you are.

FictionalCharacter · 29/12/2021 13:04

That’s a lovely smile! There’s nothing wrong with your teeth. They don’t seem particularly small.
You could use a bit of lipgloss if you’d like the appearance of “more lip”, but there’s honestly nothing wrong with how your smile looks.

PearlSlaghoople · 29/12/2021 13:12

Lovely smile, your teeth are fine! You look really friendly!! Def no work needed, OP

BusterGonad · 29/12/2021 13:30

Your smile is lovely please don't get anything done, your teeth are fine and lip fillers don't look good imo.

inmyslippers · 29/12/2021 13:51

You have a lovely smile. The only
Opinion that matters is yours.

I spent years not smiling because I was soo self conscious. Currently have Invisalign lite in and due whitening when it's finished. I wish I'd done it sooner. Life is too short to be unhappy

I love this

You have lovely teeth and a lovely smile.

Yes, your lips are thinner than some peoples, but also a lot of the lips we see on celebrities are fake anyway! I have droopy eyes and wrinkles, some people have a big nose or sticky out ears, nobody has a 'perfect' face. The best we can hope for, I think, is to have a nice face and you definitely have that!!

YourenutsmiLord · 29/12/2021 14:22

I think you might have a small mouth - if you see your teeth don't go to the corners of your lips.
But I would speak to a dentist if you are worried - they can use invisilign to move teeth, veneers to make them larger, whiten teeth etc.
You have a nice smile, though, and I doubt anyone else notices anything.

toastlover100 · 29/12/2021 16:13

What a lovely lot you all are. Thank you so much for the confidence boost! Just goes to show we are our own worst critics.

I like your teeth. They're way better than mine! Mine are terrible and I'm really self-conscious when I smile. I had braces as a teenager but wisdom teeth has shoved them all out of position again. I've also got 2 under developed lateral incisors. They stain easily too. So honestly, teeth--wise you have absolutely nothing to worry about.

Your lips are perfectly fine too even though they're on the thin side I guess. But I certainly don't stare at them and think "my god, what thin lips that woman's got" the way I stare at trout pout injected ones and think "oh my god, that woman's ruined her lips, she looks like she's been punched or had an allergic reaction , her lips are so swollen." I also stare at Trinny's on those FB adverts for her makeup which pop up on my feed, as while she has plump and full lips they look so damned dry and peely as if she's really dehydrated.

So, to sum up, you look perfectly natural and lovely to me!

I love this post and the writing style but I'm intrigued by this line,

There is more beauty in a face with wrongly perceived imperfections than an immovable coupon.

What is an immovable coupon??? Grin

BusySittingDown · 29/12/2021 16:41

Absolutely nothing wrong with your lovely smile! Keep beaming, please!

I wonder if we feel things like this because we're so used to seeing overfilled lips and godawful veneers now?

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 29/12/2021 16:50

An immovable coupon?

Is a filler filled/botoxed rigid face 😉

I get that's what it means in this context but how can a coupon be immovable? that's what I don't get. Are you referring to shopping coupons (those paper things) or something else?
SheldonesqueTheBstard · 29/12/2021 16:57

Up in this neck of woods a punch in the coupon was wot you got off theclippies on the bus to mark your ticket.

And was adopted for faces that got punched in the pub on a Saturday night.

I’m probably not explaining myself right 🤪

Floyi · 29/12/2021 17:07

Right! it's all starting to make sense now. Whereabouts are you? I've never heard of the coupon/punch in the face metaphor. It's a great one that I will save for the perfect time. Everyday is a school day.

SheldonesqueTheBstard · 29/12/2021 17:29

baffledbunny · 29/12/2021 17:50

Aw you're cute! There;'s nothing wrong with your mouth or teeth! I think you're really pretty, at least from what I can see!

coochyboochy · 29/12/2021 18:54

Nothing wrong with your smile! You don't need huge white gnashers and huge inflatable lips to look attractive!
