Shoes you have loved and lost…or still have

So which shoes that you have ever had have you loved the most? I suspect this is inspired by the recent “Hello lovers…” Carrie whispered to her shoes in “And Just Like That”.

It’s ok to list your top 3/5/whatever…

So first up

I had a pair of Jimmy Choos I got in 2001 for £120 in a sale in a wee shop in London. I’d just had the bandages off from a leg operation.

They were gold strapped sandals with a high slightly Louis heel and a huge sparkly beaded red rose on the front.

They also had an elasticated ankle strap that I cut off because it was ugly. I suspect that’s why they were in the sale.

I wore them to every wedding/work do etc I had to go to for years, and they finally died about ten years later. Much loved and much missed. I drank, danced and pulled so often I them.,

I had a pair of Gucci sandals that I lived in, wore them all the time on uni nights out they were so comfortable. I still love them though they are trashed & I can't wear them but they are perfect & I can't find replicas.

My wedding shoes were the ones Carrie lost at a kids party, can't remember the style name. I love them & so comfortable!

I have a really simple pair of Russell & Bromley 90s black simple strappy sandals that are bashed but I love them.

Some amazing flat sandals that I bought in italy, the softest leather & look amazing. I bought 2 pairs as I love them so much! I actually have a few duplicate pairs of shoes

I had a beautiful pair of boots . Calf length with a kitten heel. I wore them til they fell apart, they were the most comfortable footwear. I was bought them as a present and I have never found a pair like them (they were unbranded).

MrsRussell · 17/12/2021 19:52

Black suede Chelsea boots, pointy toes, flat. I think they may have actually have been men's. Wore them out, literally.
In about 1987 I had a pair of those amazing boots with the zips and buckles and the spike heels - wore the heels to a stub. Damn, I loved those boots.

LubaLuca · 17/12/2021 19:53

I had a beautiful pair of burgundy velvet Stan Smiths. I gave them to a charity shop when I thought they were a bit young for me. I was in my early 30s, I have no idea what the bloody hell I was thinking Confused

KirstenBlest · 17/12/2021 19:54

I had a pair of pointy biker boots when I was a student.

I had a pair of heels from Clark's bought cheaply in a sale but were too big. My feet grew and I wore them so much because they were so comfortable. I still have them but they're not wearable as a bit tatty now

Warmduscher · 17/12/2021 19:55

I had a pair of metallic rust and black platform Mary Janes that I bought in 1976 from Chelsea Girl. They were the most stylish shoes I had ever seen in my life and my 15-year-old self thought I was the dog’s bollocks in them Grin

TottiePlantagenet · 17/12/2021 20:02

A beautiful pair of black suede wedges, straps across the front in a beautiful clean design, super comfortable. They're over 20 years old now and I rarely wear them for fear that they'll fall apart :(

lilmishap · 17/12/2021 20:12

Gorgeous pair of office low heeled boots paid 210 for them, never worn them out as I lost one during a move a fortnight after buying them.
Bugs the shit outta me, I remember packing both with newspaper before boxing BOTH.

MilkBread · 17/12/2021 20:16

My first pair of DMs 30 years ago. They were so beautiful. I don’t know what I did with them

Mumteedum · 17/12/2021 20:20

My orange trainers made by a brand that is no more. I went to New York on a college trip. Didn't see anything that compared. Came home and immediately went shopping and bought them when I got back.. like no sleep for 24 hours. They were nineties perfection.

Chunky fabulousness.

FrankiesCheeseTruckle · 17/12/2021 20:30

A pair of DM loafers that I'd saved up the money from a summer job for in 1990.
I bought them from Shelley's and I loved them, my school friends loved them but clearly foxes loved them more as they ate them about 3 months after I'd got them. Gutted.

More late 90s early 00s I had a pair of black Bertie shoes. They were my partying/clubbing shoes and were so, so comfy, I pretty much wore them until they fell apart.

My Gina (Naomi) wedding shoes.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 17/12/2021 20:34

Some DM cone heeled Mary Janes
A pair of knee high brown 'gunslinger' boots from (I think) Richards
Grey suede platform things, maybe Topshop, early 90s
Kookai block heeled mule sandal things, again early 90s

Joolsin · 17/12/2021 20:42

1987 - a pair of flat black leather pixie boots with patterns of little studs all over. I loved those boots. Got taps on the heels again and again to try and stop them from wearing out, but eventually the soles separated from the uppers and after a few rainy nights out with water leaking in both sides of each boot, I had to admit defeat and throw them out. 😭😭

Ericthesnail · 17/12/2021 20:53

A pair of what would now be called shoe boots bought in a shoe shop in Malaga about 30 years ago. Black leather with a perfect height heel and a ribbon tie at the front. Oh how I miss those shoes.

mejon · 17/12/2021 22:28

A pair of navy blue pointy toed lace-ups with a cut out pattern that came from a trendy shoe boutique in Cardiff called 'Z' in the mid-80s. I think they were by Arche. They'd be exactly the sort of thing I'd wear now were it not for the fact that they disappeared many years ago.

Black, very pointy toed Mary-Jane type shoes with two elasticated straps across the foot and a rippled sole. I bought them in Miss Selfridge in the early-mid 80s and wore them to school. I loved them dearly.

Brown, waxy DM boots but not the multi-holed type. They were almost like desert boots on a DM sole. Again, I'd still be wearing them if I hadn't either lost them or possibly given them to a charity shop in a moment of madness. Early 90s. Never seen anything similar since.

NinaDefoe · 17/12/2021 22:33

Black wedge sandals from HOBBS with an ankle strap around 1997.
They were gorgeous and I bought a second pair a year later.
I’d still wear them now if they hadn’t fallen apart from wear.

NinaDefoe · 17/12/2021 22:39

They were a much flatter version of these with black leather instead of a weave on the heel 😭

windmill26 · 17/12/2021 22:40

I had a pair of orange suede Manolos, the most comfortable pair of high heel shoes ever!

maryzx · 17/12/2021 22:42

Grey stilettoes in about 1984. God, I was the height of cool. I wore them to death. Our NDN told my mum they were unsuitable for a 13 yr old, but as my mum was the one who bought them for me, she would have found it hard to agree. Grin

Exhausteddog · 17/12/2021 22:43

I had a gorgeous pair of patterned DMs (ditsy flowers) i don't know why i would have got rid of them, they can't possibly have worn out. And 2 pairs of suede platform trainers. (Late 1990s/early 2000s)

Mykittensmittens · 17/12/2021 22:44

I was 8 years old. It was 1980.

They were shiny burgundy patent with an ankle strap, and a little gold bar around the (half inch) heel part.

They were in the Freeman’s catalogue.

I nagged and nagged my mum. When she caved, they were out of stock.

I still think about how much I wanted those shoes now!!!

CalmConfident · 17/12/2021 22:49

My green suede DMs from uni, and black shoes boots from M&S with a high heel and platform sole. Both were my dancing shoes at different times…I think the DMs got thrown in a house move, and I lost one of the heels somehow. I mourn for both

EBearhug · 17/12/2021 22:56

Purple suede ankle boots. Italian, from an independent shop in town centre 1989 - the first pair of shoes I bought myself, with money from my Saturday job. They were so soft and lovely. Eventually, I wore holes in them. I still have them though.

BestIsWest · 17/12/2021 22:57

Silver leather trainers that DH put in the washing machine after I got mud in them. Ruined.
Brown patchwork square toed boots with a block heel. Early 90s. God I loved them. In retrospect they were hideous.
A pair of soft grey vintage 50s kitten heels I had at 17. They were beautiful - my ‘going out shoes’ at the time.

LoveFall · 17/12/2021 22:58

I had a tan-coloured pair of negative heel shoes called Earth Shoes. I thought they were so cool. I used to have long hippie style straight hair and the shoes made me feel it was the summer of love!
