Shoes you have loved and lost…or still have

So which shoes that you have ever had have you loved the most? I suspect this is inspired by the recent “Hello lovers…” Carrie whispered to her shoes in “And Just Like That”.

It’s ok to list your top 3/5/whatever…

So first up

I had a pair of Jimmy Choos I got in 2001 for £120 in a sale in a wee shop in London. I’d just had the bandages off from a leg operation.

They were gold strapped sandals with a high slightly Louis heel and a huge sparkly beaded red rose on the front.

They also had an elasticated ankle strap that I cut off because it was ugly. I suspect that’s why they were in the sale.

I wore them to every wedding/work do etc I had to go to for years, and they finally died about ten years later. Much loved and much missed. I drank, danced and pulled so often I them.,

A pair of navy suede Kickers trainers with a white rubber wedge heel. No idea what ever happened to them but my 14 year old self loved them.

Also a pair of tan leather knee high boots from Faith that I bought from Debenhams using my staff discount as a student.

Red leather Kickers.

Jackson & Jackson knee high, black leather boots, slightly squared toe with a zip at the back…they were PERFECT. And extraordinarily expensive for me at £199 10 years ago. The zip died, I took them to a (reluctant) cobbler to repair, he butchered them although I still paid £45 for the pleasure…I cried as I brought them home. I’ve never seen a similar pair since RIP

Buytoomuchonebay · 17/12/2021 23:09

A pair of pink wedge sandals with a flower on the toe
One of the straps snapped-I miss those shoes

A pair of point toed, high heeled boots-for some reason I could run in them
I can’t even walk in heels normally

Doc Martin boots when I was 16-I couldn’t believe how badly made they are now when dd bought some

My Clark’s boots-they are falling apart now but so comfy

leccybill · 17/12/2021 23:14

These beauties. So comfy and go with everything, even tights.

@ginnig I have the same in black - Manolo Blahnik and the style name is Sederaby. The newer version is the Hangisi. Gorgeous.

lisaandalan · 17/12/2021 23:18

I used to love the shoe shop panache, I used to have patient leather high heels in all different colours, they had like little holes in the design on the front I loved them all, wish I'd have kept them I'd still wear them now. X

lollipoprainbow · 17/12/2021 23:20

Some gorgeous red ones from m and s back in the 90's. slight heel and a strap with a bow across the middle. Though they were very racy at the time ! Looking back they were quite tame. Wish I had kept them. M and S did lovely shoes back then, not so good now.

notacooldad · 17/12/2021 23:20

I'm going to get this off my chest because it happened 30 years ago and I am still bitter.
I had a pair of Kurt Geiger khaki shoes that I adored. They were perfect for everything near enough. I kept the in the cupboard under the stairs.
I kind of new my relationship was on the rocks. The shoes completly disappeared, v=never to be seen again. I think I knew who took them but I have never been able to prove it. I'm still upset.

lollipoprainbow · 17/12/2021 23:21

A really high pair of beige lace up heels from Dune from a charity shop in Highgate years ago. Never Had the nerve to wear them much then got rid. Wish I had them now!

notacooldad · 17/12/2021 23:23

Absoultely!
I have a pair of M and S shoes that I am trying my best not to wear out, they have been reheeled a couple of times!
They are zipped at the back and have a wide grey strap and a wide black strap. Sounds boring but they are great!

JaneExotic · 17/12/2021 23:24

@leccybill gorgeous! Where are they from?

Florabritannica · 17/12/2021 23:25

Getting out Christmas decorations from the garage today I came across a bag of treasured bit more-longer-worn shoes, including an absurd pair of Galliano platforms from possibly his last collection before disgrace, and my Marc Jacobs mouse slippers which were always a little bit tight, but hey.

leccybill · 17/12/2021 23:27

@JaneExotic Clarks! Dollar Craze

Nat6999 · 17/12/2021 23:35

I had a pair of black stiletto boots with a zip & straps up the back that I bought with my first wage packet from work, they came from a shop called Rebina in Sheffield where all the Sheffield pop groups like ABC, Heaven 17 & Human League got theirs from, I wore them to death with anything from a leather skirt & fishnets, Jeans, leather trousers, ski pants, I could dance all night in them.

talkalarm · 18/12/2021 08:13

These. I was uncertain at the time so negative bought them. I have now regretted that for 20 years ...

talkalarm · 18/12/2021 08:14

Autocorrect- never not negative

loopylu26 · 18/12/2021 08:30

Pale pink suede DMs with clear sole. So so pretty, I think I gave them to charity. 30 years later I'd still wear them.

Don't regret not keeping my buffalo boots though!

ElizabethinherGermanGarden · 18/12/2021 08:53

I bought the absolute acme of the red shoe a couple of years ago: perfect colour, fine suede, high heel of the perfect balance between chunky and slim, slight platform, ankle strap. They are wonderful and make me look and feel fab while getting ready.

Sadly, after two minutes they are absolute agony and they have stayed, looking beautiful, in the cupboard for two years.

OneMillionSteps · 18/12/2021 08:57

3 different pairs from Nine West in the early 2000s, all really comfortable and lovely soft leather.

  • Flat brown leather ankle boots, nice springy sole.
  • Block heeled brown loafers, great quality and very lightweight
  • Block heeled brown leather strappy sandals (would be called gladiator style these days)

All worn out in the end/or got too smelly to wear despite many attempts to rectify.

polkadotpjs · 18/12/2021 09:47

A pair of Bertie square toe silvery grey patent leather sandals. And both my pairs of Docs from late 90s. Why did I get rid?!! 😭

Eyesofdisarray · 18/12/2021 09:59

A pair of red patent slingbacks, with a gold buckle. I was 10 and stared at them in the shoe shop window for weeks. Mum finally gave in and I nearly cried with relief. How I loved those shoes.
And a pair of Anello and Davide t- bar shoes which I can't wear but will never part with. They were so good for dancing in 🙂

isthismylifenow · 18/12/2021 10:08

A pair of Italian leather black boots, instead of lace holes they had those clips you wind the laces around. I bought them in the Next sale around 1990. They had the perfect rubber block heel and I wore them all the time. They backpacked all around the world with me too. The inside sole started to give way, and in a mad clean out, I threw them away. I have regretted it every day since as I could have had them repaired if I had thought about it at the time.

I had them a good 15 years and I am still full of regret all these years later.

lilmishap · 18/12/2021 10:23

@talkalarm ooh they are flippin beautiful boots

ginnig · 18/12/2021 10:36

@Flyonawalk yes that's it, mine are silver. They are so comfortable.
