What do you wear on your feet at home for a party?

Christmas party coming up, my turn to host. Planning to wear a lovely knee length dress, but not sure about shoes. I don't wear shoes in the house but slippers will not go with the dress.

Equally don't really want to be clopping around the house in heels Confused

What would you wear?

Nothing! Never wear shoes in my own home (happy for others to though) and would probably take off any shoes in someone else’s home too.

ParkheadParadise · 06/12/2021 12:56

Heels then after a couple of hours when I'm slightly merry I put on flip flops when I'm pished and dancing it's my bare feet. 👠👠🥂🥂

I've got some sequin slippers I save for parties! Would glam slippers work? Or new shoes that haven't been worn outside?

Insertfunnyname · 06/12/2021 12:59

Flip flops?

KateLumley · 06/12/2021 13:04

Flip flops Grin

Where can I get sequinned slippers, that sounds good.

Ballet shoes?

I always wear shoes at home - we have flagstone floor all through downstairs - if be horrified if a guest took their shoes off, they'd get very cold feet and covered in dog hair Grin

Pattygonia · 06/12/2021 13:28

I wear moshlu ballerina slippers. I have warm sheepskin Lands End slippers for everyday but these little plain velvet ones for exactly the type of situation you describe. Mine are black but they come in a wide range of colours too

Palavah · 06/12/2021 13:29

Stockinged feet normally

Caspianberg · 06/12/2021 13:30

Slippers

We have guest slippers also. No shoes beyond hallway here.

SprayedWithDettol · 06/12/2021 13:34

Shoes for a party. We have stone floors throughout and a labrador. I don’t expect people to remove shoes here. (Floors washed daily!)
When I’m at home without guests I wear Celtic and co house boots.

KateLumley · 06/12/2021 13:54

I like those moshulu slippers. I don't care about shoes in the house, would certainly not expect guests to take them off. Just don't tend to wear them myself.

No outdoor shoes in the house here. It’s the law!!! I would wear a pair of flip flops (bare legs) or the slippers would have to do (with socks, stockings or tights).

DSGR · 06/12/2021 14:13

Slippers? You can’t wear slippers 🤣 I wear a pair of ballerina pumps or just my tights

SoftPillow · 06/12/2021 14:22

For dinner parties and proper parties always heals. And then later no shoes after a few drinks / dancing.

I'd also never expect party guests to take shoes off. Can't imagine being at a proper party in my socks, and taking heals off often completely changes the look of an outfit

Caspianberg · 06/12/2021 14:32

I know this has been done a million times before, but if someone came to my house and wanted to wear outdoor shoes inside for a party, I would just be thinking off all the dog shit and grit they were walking all over the floor.

Lookingoutside · 06/12/2021 14:36

Fresh pedicure and sparkly leg warmers if it’s cold.

TyrannosaurusRights · 06/12/2021 14:55

Embroidered loafers?

ClitorisAllsorts · 06/12/2021 14:55

I bought some lovely velvet Birkenstocks for this exact scenario! I love them!

@Caspianberg

But, but, but, a party in socks, or stockinged feet....I just can't picture it. Nothing says 'let your hair down, dance, flirt, frolic, be amazing, like a pair of M&S poly cotton socks 😬

And no one walks to parties, surely it's a cab or a car there and taxi back.

SoftPillow · 06/12/2021 15:02

@Caspianberg

Perhaps it depends on the type of party 😉

tintodeverano2 · 06/12/2021 15:12

@KateLumley

What about these?
I brought those and returned them right away. They didn't fit very well and they aren't as shiny as in the photos on the website.
pastabest · 06/12/2021 15:14

A fancy pair of wool Christmas socks over tights

bigbeachedwales · 06/12/2021 15:16

@Palavah

Stockinged feet normally
I haven't heard this expression since the 1950s!! 😂
