Can't link to Christie's but check out auction 2006 princess Margaret. I wonder who has the poltimore tiara

I like that blouse on Kate. Love the bright colours.

SnottyLottie · 02/12/2021 16:01

If we’re allowed a Faberge egg along with our tiaras can I have dibs on the Winter egg? 👸🏼👑

RomainingCalm · 02/12/2021 16:28

In that case I'll put my name next to the Bay Tree Egg please - it will look lovely on the windowsill in the front room once I've cleaned up.

Maybe Sophie wanted to be able to get stuck into the wreath making without worrying about prickly holly leaves pulling threads on a posher outfit. It's certainly a contrast with her glamourous tourquoise gown from a few days ago.
I like the paisley pattern on Kate's blouse.

Aww, Dunnes! I have very fond memories of our local Dunnes store. I still use some pans that I bought there over 20 years ago and they are still in really good condition. It used to be brilliant for summer shorts and t shirts for my lads when they were little.

frugalkitty · 02/12/2021 18:31

I'd like these please but to be honest, I'd like any egg that was owned by the Romanovs just for the historical connection.

Kate's blouse today is Ralph Lauren and at £139 not hideously expensive but maybe a tad much for polyester. I expect the trousers are the Jigsaw ones she wears quite often.

Maireas · 02/12/2021 20:16

I'm not keen on Kate's blouse, I find it a bit fussy. As pp said, pricey for polyester.
So, we're staking claims on Fabergé eggs now? Eggsellent.Wink

Another column on the spreadsheet @Maireas? 😊😊😊

Why the ghastly cheap plastic belt, Kate? Why? Without the belt, this could have looked quite cool and christmassy, but the belt makes her look like a daytime telly presenter from 1983.

Maireas · 02/12/2021 20:37

Indeed, RomainingCalm!
We've already got some brooches and necklaces going on!

The daytime TV presenter c1983 description nails it. Not a fan of today's outfit.

Oohh a bit of inside information Grin
Just watched a programme on our national broadcaster RTE. It was about the Phoenix Park in Dublin.
Farmleigh House is in the Phoenix Park and distinguished visitors to Ireland stay there, including Queen Elizabeth.
The lady looking after Farmleigh was recalling the visit and the room the Queen stayed in.
She said Angela Kelly asked her would she like to see the gown that the Queen would wear at the historic dinner the next day. She saw the dress and other items too including the crown ( she must have held it ) the Queen wore and said it was very very heavy.
Who bagsied that one ?
Can you cope with the weight on your head ?

AdaColeman · 02/12/2021 21:28

Apparently, during the weeks before her coronation, Her Maj wore the various crowns daily for several hours at a time, in order to get used to their heavy weight.

As for the Poltimore tiara, well of course I’ve got it! Wink Wink

Bearsbearsbears40 · 02/12/2021 21:33

I normally dislike paisley but I do like the colours of Kate’s top today. Less so the belt and trousers…

CliffsofMohair · 02/12/2021 21:34

@LadyEloise1

I love that colour blue Sophie's wearing. Carolyn Donnelly The Edit dunnesstores.com has lovely cashmere scarves, gloves, snoods and beanies in that lovely blue colour and they are reasonably priced if anyone is interested.

Disclaimer- I have no affiliation to Dunnes.

I bought the scarf. It's lovely and soft.

Services to Irish fashion right there @LadyEloise1. 😂

I have a denim dress and a jumper that I bought in Dunnes six years ago worn a million times that haven’t aged at all. Really good quality.
LadyEloise1 · 02/12/2021 21:42

@AdaColeman
The Queen didn't wear the Poltimore at that dinner.Hmm

Is that the missing tiara ?
Oh Ada !

AdaColeman · 02/12/2021 22:01

@LadyEloise1
No, I know that Her Maj didn’t wear the Poltimore tiara at that or any other dinner, as it belonged to Margaret! Confused
I was replying to justasking who wondered where the Poltimore tiara was after Margaret’s death.

The large gap in my previous post and in this post is meant to indicate that I’m dealing with two topics.

MotherofPearl · 02/12/2021 22:59

Daisy's been to a ballet performance with CPM and children. Can't seem to get a proper look at CPM's outfit, but Daisy looks great in that dress. Amazing figure for her age, or any age. Do you suppose the furs are real? Shock

That fur is real, looking a bit moth eaten

Serenster · 02/12/2021 23:10

Daisy has a collection of vintage fur - some hugely fluffy evening stoles as well as proper coats.

Isabella looks so grown up in that picture! A bit of make up and wearing adult clothes, and she looks stunning. Such a good-looking family.

KillingMeDeftly · 02/12/2021 23:22

I'm sure she's a great kid but not sure I'd call her stunning.

Daisy probably designed the costumes for that ballet!

Pallisers · 02/12/2021 23:28

I've lurked on every single one of these lovely threads. Decided to post this time to thank all of you for the photos.

Loved Leti's dress and Silvia's dress in the swedish dinner at the beginning - really lovely sleeve length on Silvia and of course it would be a crime against arms for Leti to actually wear sleeves. I also loved CPV black and white evening thing further on too - and Sophie's blue evening gown.

StCharlotte · 03/12/2021 08:35

There's Primark polyester and there's Ralph Lauren polyester. Not all polyester is born equal.
