I bought this a few years back. I'm now 31 and tried it on the other day and I'm just not sure if I'm a bit old for it? Is it something you wear when you're 18? Thoughts please!

It's just a fur jacket. It's fine to wear at any age and you're only 31. But if you don't feel comfortable in it, that's different. It'll ruin your time out if you're fretting over it.

DameCelia · 13/11/2021 15:08

Surely the only point at which you're too old to wear something is if you are actually dead and incapable of putting it on?

XiCi · 13/11/2021 15:09

Have I missed something? It's just a fur jacket.

moocow123 · 13/11/2021 15:11

Oh 😂😂😂,

I'm clearly overthinking it then hahah.

I actually really like it but I was just worried people would think I was trying to look like a teenager again.

I will keep it then!!

It’s a completely unremarkable item of clothing. If you like it, wear it.

Don’t put arbitrary restrictions on yourself. I can’t see any reason not to wear this. Unless you’re overweight - then I could see it would be extremely unflattering.

musicforsmorks · 13/11/2021 15:12

I'd blame the styling for your hesitation. It looks ridiculous on the model with leggings and massive boots. Which might translate badly for most women of any age.

this type of jacket is fairly timeless, and ageless, and would traditionally be worn with an evening dress or slim jeans, etc. I think putting it on a teen model with teen styling is deceiving.

It's that kind of website though, so you have to look past the 'edginess'.

PoppyMonth · 13/11/2021 15:14

I can’t see what is ridiculous about the leggings and boots. This is a pretty standard look rn.

cicatrix1 · 13/11/2021 15:25

My mom has just got one out of primark.she is 80 years old! looks great on her.I might get the burgundy one out or asda.

TiredThursday · 13/11/2021 15:29

I have similar in brown and am 39, I don't feel too old for it!

you are right, but I was emphasising how it would have been worn traditionally, of all ages. This look is quite a teen thing, even if it is current, so might put an older person off. Even though it shouldn't.
Laiste · 13/11/2021 15:49

Oh god i'd love one of these! I keep seeing fur jackets and coveting them! Black is nice and understated.

Skinny jeans and trainers would be my ensemble i'm afraid. Nothing groundbreaking Grin

musicforsmorks · 13/11/2021 15:49

To be honest I just don't like the styling photos, it comes over as ridiculous because of the poses, etc. Of course in itself it isn't ridiculous.
I think most sites aimed at younger women use fucking stupid poses. It was hard work earlier when I was trying to scroll through ASOS, every damn pic involved contorted posing and a sort of rap star wankiness.

Not as bad as Zara though, or M&S. Ive never seen such crazy styling as M&S...it's like they have no idea what to pair with the main item and often get it so, so wrong.
but that's just me.

CoodleMoodle · 13/11/2021 15:53

I'm 32 and have an identical one... from Primark Grin I bought it to wear to a party but I'm trying to wear it more often, unless it's raining. It's soft (my kids keep stroking me), comfy, warm and has pockets! I love it.

2pinkginsplease · 13/11/2021 15:55

I’m 45 and have his very jacket. Love wearing it on a night out as it’s so cosy and really sets an outfit off!

marsdon · 13/11/2021 17:00

I'm in my 40s I have just brought a Brown Fur coat from primark and love it !
And have a Black Fur coat that I w

marsdon · 13/11/2021 17:01

Sorry sent to quick - Will be getting out again to wear.

Lovinglife45 · 13/11/2021 17:09

Absolutely not!

I bought a faux fur jacket over 15 years ago. It comes out every winter and I feel glam wearing it. I am significantly older than you too.

GreekGod · 13/11/2021 17:11

No, of course not. Go for it. Its lovely

RedHot22 · 13/11/2021 17:20

My MIL has one similar
She’s 84

dudsville · 13/11/2021 17:28

It's a timeless notion a cropped "fur" jacket.

BIWI · 13/11/2021 17:29

What on earth has your age got to do with it?

If you like it, if it fits, then you wear it.

Stop with the ageism.

OnyxOryx · 13/11/2021 17:42

Do you live somewhere where nobody wears anything remotely nice, it's all basic practical stuff? If so then you'll stand out it's true, but if you dress like the rest you'll slowly rot your soul from the inside out. Be yourself. FWIW I love faux fur coats.

DramaAlpaca · 13/11/2021 17:46

That is a perfectly nice jacket that would look good on anyone of any age.

Thinking you are 'too old' for something at the age of 31 is just plain daft, not to mention ageist.

FindingMeno · 13/11/2021 17:48

Nope.
You're good.

I live somewhere like this

NYE (year before last obvs) DH and I were berated by friends for dressing up.
We weren’t even dressed up imo! Just not dressed like we were walking the dog 😂
