Lip filler tomorrow...nervous!

Notonthenewrug · 10/11/2021 23:25

I've posted before about lip Fillers but I'm having it done tomorrow and so nervous.

Has anyone who has had it done able to give me some last minute reassurance? Any before and after pics would be great. Also did it hurt?

I never thought I'd have lip filler and to be honest, I've never seen a lip filler look natural. This is what I'm most nervous about.

Im not actually going because I want bigger, filled lips. Basically I've a few very fine fines above my top lip and some underneath. They form when I speak but are now static lines. The Doctor suggested filler around the border of the lips (not having the body filled) because this can help with the lines.

He's very experienced and expensive and has many awards! So he's definitely qualified but I'm worried I'll look fake or have the obvious lines at the top of my lip. I think I'm having 1ml (that's what is on the invoice) but worried it'll be too much. Also, I've not told my partner 😬 praying for little to no swelling 😂

@AndTime

Op your partner is going to notice, you will be swollen and possibly bruised for upto a week. Just be honest, they are your lips! You are allowed to do what you like to them.

I have had mine done 5 times now over the last few years but I don't think they are massive or fake looking. I could do with a top up actually.

They look lovely but can definitely see they've been filled, there's a ridge above your top lip.

Ugh, so you go in for one thing and get a bonus evaluation of all the other 'faults' that can be fixed? You say you hate your appearance, but please don't let things that have never bothered you until now become an issue because just one botox 'n' fillers doctor says so. It's similar to when the hairdresser suggests you buy their salon's shampoo and conditioner. Upselling

This happened to me when I went for my first botox assessment, I wasn’t interested in filler at all but apparently there was a line on my chin that needed filling and nose to mouth lines to ‘lift’ my face. I hadn’t actually really noticed these ‘faults’ but did feel a bit paranoid afterwards.

ChangeMustCome · 11/11/2021 16:58

My dd23 had it done and when she had the Moderna vaccine they swelled up.

Notonthenewrug · 11/11/2021 17:06

@Classica yep! I don't want to know to be honest! It's one thing to have an issue and ask for some advice/treatment but I don't need all my flaws listed! I don't want a face full of fillers. I need to try and ignore what he has said for the sake of my sanity.

@AmberLynn1536 did you have any filler treatments done? It's awful isn't it. I get occasional Botox (from a different Dr) and have told him I don't want to know my other faults! There is only do much I'm going to do to my face and at some point I need to have some self acceptance.

@ChangeMustCome was that in anyway related? Or did she have an allergic reaction to the vaccine?

@RalphLaurenG

I've had them done twice because I have really, really thin lips - see photo!!!

First time - with a beautician and it hurt like fuck. Awful. I nearly told her to stop when she was halfway through.

Second time - qualified nurse - barely felt a thing!

They're definitely worth having though, I love the way my lips look now. The photo is after the nurse did them.

Those aren’t that thin! They look perfectly normal.
ChangeMustCome · 11/11/2021 18:37

Apparently it's a side effect. Was a bit weird, they're fine now tho obviously if she has another dose it may happen again!

AmberLynn1536 · 11/11/2021 20:23

Notonthenewrug No I didn’t succumb! mainly because filler scares me if I’m honest, maybe I will change my mind as my face continues to slide south. I never even noticed the line on my chin, I do now, constantly! But I agree, we have to accept ourselves to a degree, otherwise where does end?

Beachlovingirl · 11/11/2021 20:34

Op you might have more swelling tomorrow because I find day 2/3 to be the most swelling.

Best just be open with your partner and say they’re your lips it’s your choice. My husband hates it that I’ve had mine done twice and it’s a point of conversation for a week or so and then once the swelling is all gone he forgets it.

It sounds like you don’t think you’ll have bruising so that’s great. Last time I had a a bit of bruising and discolouration at first and bought a natural coloured lip liner and used this and it totally hid any bruising and also allowed me to get to know my new lips.

Thekormachameleon · 11/11/2021 20:44

This is my before and after with 1ml.
I'm having my second .5 ml next week

Lip filler tomorrow...nervous!
Youngatheart00 · 11/11/2021 20:48

@Thekormachameleon I don’t dislike them but I’d say that’s fairly drastic!

Thekormachameleon · 11/11/2021 20:50

That was immediately afterwards so they were really swollen. Once they'd settled they look really natural and have evened my very uneven lips out

Lollypop701 · 11/11/2021 20:57

@Thekormachameleon photos now please?

Thekormachameleon · 11/11/2021 21:08

Lollypop701 · 12/11/2021 13:06

@Thekormachameleon nice!

Notonthenewrug · 12/11/2021 14:35

I'm more swollen today (hopefully), the actual body of my lips are quite nice, a little volume but not much bigger. However around my mouth seems to look more fake/have volume- I'm hoping this is sweeling and it'll go down.
Is this common?
Also feels a bit firm in places, mostly around the outsides. Although it's still a little sore around the injection sites.

OP posts:
Beachlovingirl · 12/11/2021 16:16

Normal to have swelling and volume where the product was injected and also firmness around the injection site. Don’t forget you’ll probs little scabs too so if you feel any roughness don’t pick

Notonthenewrug · 12/11/2021 21:21

@beachlovingirl does the firmness go?

OP posts:
Beachlovingirl · 12/11/2021 22:25

@Notonthenewrug yes it does subside. And if you feel like there is lumpyness that isn’t subsiding / disappearing then at your 2 week check bring this up with your practitioner.

Wedowonder · 13/11/2021 07:47

OP may I ask what the name of the eye peel was?

Don't worry about the firmness. They will feel like rubber for a week or 2. But this does go. Once they have settled, they will feel slightly firmer/less saggy and empty, but very slightly

Notonthenewrug · 13/11/2021 12:28

@Wedowonder I had a medium depth TCA peel but not sure of the exact strength. Have you had one before? I don't think I should touch my face again because I'm also anxious about this! I only had it under my eyes and all the lines I get under my eyes when I smile are now permanently there and etches in, although I've been told this is normal in terrified it'll stay!

Thank you for the advice. Hopefully they will settle and feel more normal soon, they are still a bit tender and sore in places.

OP posts:
Wedowonder · 13/11/2021 15:30

Your eyes will look more wrinkled to begin with. This will be the case for a week or so (depending on the peel).
Keep applying an eye cream/moisturiser and Sunscreen.

I was curious as I'm looking to bring a peel specifically for the eyes into my clinic, but I have not come across one.

Xx

Notonthenewrug · 15/11/2021 21:47

@Wedowonder it was just a medium strength TCA. He just applied it with a cotton bud, so I assume it could be done anywhere. He was also going to do around my mouth area but at the time I said no as I was worried about the pain. However it didn't hurt as much as I expected and next time I'd consider having more areas done.

I'm now on day 4. I peeled yesterday. My under eye area is looking amazing however I cannot imagine the results will be this good. I'm a little swollen, so assume this is why why skin looks so smooth!

OP posts:
JemimaPyjamas · 16/11/2021 09:34

@Notonthenewrug just read your thread, I had my marionette lines, corners of my mouth and philtrum (probably spelt wrong but can’t be arsed to check as typing on my phone) yesterday, with a bit of added volume in both lips. Now feel, and look, like I’ve been in a fight!
DH back on Friday night so 🤞🤞 I look better by then!

Notonthenewrug · 16/11/2021 10:03

@JemimaPyjamas is it the first time you have had these treatments done? Hopefully once it settles you'll love the results. I'm on day 6 post lip filler (classing the day I had it as day 1). Not really sure if I'm still swollen of not! My lips look fine in size but still a bit sore in places and I feel the corners of my mouth look a little bulky, not sure if this is swelling or the way my mouth has always been!
Did you not tell your husband you were getting it done? I didn't tell my partne rabout my lips and he's not noticed!

OP posts:
PeacheyPeach · 16/11/2021 10:16

@notonthenewrug can we see pictures? I'm considering having mine done in the new year as I find my lips are disappearing as Im getting older!!
