Just that really, faux leather trousers, over the knee boots, very interested to hear people’s opinions, as I actually think you can still look nice mid sixties wearing faux leather trousers as long as slim and minimal make up, not so sure with the over the knee boots though I think they are more for the younger ones

I actually see both of those things as being older looks, I E. Something I'd see on older 40+ women. It's not a bad thing though.

Shopgirl1 · 11/11/2021 08:04

Wear what you like and what suits you.

WouldBeGood · 11/11/2021 08:08

@Tiramiwho I’d say bunches are not plaited; pigtails plaited 😃

WouldBeGood · 11/11/2021 08:09

I’m in my fifties and dress entirely age inappropriately, but it makes me happy.

WingsOfGahan · 11/11/2021 08:15

@StarShapedWindow

I’m getting my mum the Toast pleather legging for Christmas, she’s 73 and has fantastic legs - she’ll look fab.
I just looked for pleather leggings at Toast on line, and can't see them. Can you post a link please?
WingsOfGahan · 11/11/2021 08:21

Craftycorvid · 11/11/2021 08:33

My legs are too short for over-the-knee boots but it doesn’t stop me occasionally thinking I can pull it off. Grin

Berkeys · 11/11/2021 08:39

I don’t think anyone lools good in leather trousers/skirts etc, whatever the age! Shudder Hmm

shiningjustforyou · 11/11/2021 08:46

Over the knee boots are an abomination but nothing to do with age.
Leather trousers can look good, depends how they're styled.

PatientlyWaiting21 · 11/11/2021 08:49

There’s no limit, wear whatever you like and own it 😄

Thanks for that @WouldBeGood 🤓
Every day's a schoolday ( speaking of pigtails 😁 )

I just think people should wear what they like.

There's this women who lives in the same town as me, she must be late 60s early 70s and she is the most beautiful lady. She has long (used to be silver now red) hair, dresses a bit punky and she always looks amazing. I actually aspire to be like her when I'm her age.

Hard agree. The Adam Ant look is the best. I’m too short for over the knee boots sadly. I look like I’m off for a spot of river fishing in them.
RedHot22 · 11/11/2021 09:27

I love my OTK boots but have retired them, not because I feel too old, I just think they look dated now.

Also, it depends on the style too! Mine are flat, soft suede and a taupe colour. That’s very different from heeled, leather black.

I don’t wear leather leggings as prefer coated jeans/leggings instead.

RedHot22 · 11/11/2021 09:28

The only thing I can’t stand is ripped jeans on anyone over 25

Disfordarkchocolate · 11/11/2021 09:32

I don't think it's an age thing I think it's a confidence thing.

I would never even consider either, I'd feel extremely self-conscious and it would show.

middleager · 11/11/2021 09:32

I'm 48, short and overweight. I have just bought some petite leather look leggings thanks to a previous MN thread and feel good in them.

I team them with a long top and ankle boots and can feel rock chic again.

It's one thing digging at age, but the idea that you have to be tall and skinny to wear these is also depressing...

SocksAndTheCity · 11/11/2021 09:45

@CambsAlways

Thanks everyone, my Motto is if you have the figure and the confidence and you should go for it, I think mutton dressed as lamb only comes into it if you look ridiculous and trying too hard. eg, loads of jewellery make up , I’m thinking more Lulu and less lily savage
You sound delightful Hmm
JennieLee · 11/11/2021 09:52

I think the worst things are make-up, hair dye, facial fillers etc. I'm not saying they can't be done subtly and very well. But in the case of the first two a great deal of maintenance is required, and - in close up - the effect of cosmetics can still be rather masklike.

WouldBeGood · 11/11/2021 09:53

Mask like is a positive bonus in my view 🤣

Sooverthemill · 11/11/2021 09:54

You can wear anything at any age. It's occasion appropriate not person appropriate. I'm 63 and wear what I think I look good in

ellenpartridge · 11/11/2021 09:55

These sound like older things to wear! I'm in my 30s and wouldn't be my style at all. Can picture this much more readily on someone in her 50s or 60s.
