Quick, what's good in Primark?

alldressedupinblue · 04/11/2021 15:55

My last meeting in a big City is cancelled, and all that lies between me and the train is a huge Primark.

Likely my only trip this year. I don't have kids.

What would you buy? Wink

Pants

twilightcafe · 04/11/2021 18:44

Vest tops
Sport footies (thin trainer socks that stay up and are made from tights material)

Gwenhwyfar · 04/11/2021 20:10

@Mrsjayy

For when it’s really cold, I love their fleece lined opaque tights.

My dd swears by these she can work outside and does nightshifts and they help to keep her warm.

This is the ONLY good thing they have IMO.
robertcatesbynight · 04/11/2021 20:13

Nothing at all.

DedalusBloom · 04/11/2021 20:14

Pyjamas
Tights
Basic t shirts

I bought a couple of bath mats the other day ( The GLAMOUR!) and they were very good. Also loaded up on wrapping paper and little things for an advent calendar I'm making for my mum. ( nail Polish, little candles, fleecy socks etc)

ParkheadParadise · 04/11/2021 20:18

Jammies
Leggings
Vest tops
Nail varnish
Slippers
Trainers ( £12 one's are stylish and comfy)
Towels & Bath mats

My visit last weekend to Primark was so disappointing. Huge store, hardly any stock, shelving moved around to try and mask the gaps but very little choice.
One lady was having a melt down about the lack of choice of underwear.

Isabelle70 · 04/11/2021 20:32

@Coniferhedge those tights will be good for work, could you let me know what the sizing is like please.

Aderyn21 · 04/11/2021 20:48

I really rate their duvet covers/pillow cases/sheets. Wash well and don't go bobbly like the overpriced Next ones I bought!
Have also had really good pyjamas which have lasted for ever.
People knock Primark as disposable fashion but I've had so much stuff which has lasted years and is still going strong.

greedygut · 04/11/2021 20:53

Nothing

Agree with this. Especially if you wash well and generally look after things. Last as long as similar from more expensive shops.

When in Primark I like looking for the red reduction stickers Grin

RobertaFirmino · 04/11/2021 23:20

Primark towels are the dogs bollocks! Other than that, why not just buy things you like the look of? Seems to work for me.

purdypuma · 05/11/2021 06:53

Basic black socks
Plain colour vests to go with tops
Packs of glue on nails...last lot lasted me 10 days!

I've just picked up a pair of their fleecy lined birkenstock dupes...7.00 very comfy!

LolaSmiles · 05/11/2021 07:01

You beat me to it. They also last a lot longer than many other shops I've tried.

They also do a line of fleece lined leggings that are even more fleecy than the tights. Like the tights, they also wash well, keep their shape well, and last ages.

Coniferhedge · 05/11/2021 08:28

@Isabelle70 The sizing is okay, pretty standard I’d say. I’m 5’2” and a size 10-12 and can fit in the S/M size no problem. Good stretch on them. Not quite as much as normal opaque tights, that’s probably due to the fleece lining, but still good.

EvilRingahBitch · 05/11/2021 08:31

Mesh invisible trainer liners.

tellmewhentheLangshiplandscoz · 05/11/2021 09:24

They do great merchandise items too I.e Stranger Things, Cobra Kai and Harry Potter

Deathraystare · 05/11/2021 10:44

Yes I have been pleased with some of the make up. The foundation is good (I think it is a matte one?). The lipstick. I have a few brushes (make up brushes). Some cosy socks but I have to be careful with Primark socks as some give me cramp! Yes, honest!

The comfort bras are good for home wear. My only real moan is looking for knickers. Rails of G strings and brazilian what nots - anything that barely covers your bits basically and then a few normal ones (high leg or full coverage in boring shades). Love the t-shirts, leggings and joggers. Also cami tops, pyjamas etc. A few bits of bedding, towels, pillowcase, some of the diffusers actually have a nice smell (though most are aimed at 5 year olds with bad taste!). Oh and I bought several pairs of slippers there.

SusannaRowan · 05/11/2021 11:37

I don't get to go very often and my first visit post lockdown, last week, was such a disappointment. I bought a bra and an Icelandic style jumper (which to be fair is lovely).
I wear their basic plain, long sleeved/short sleeved t shirts and spaghetti strap vests pretty much every day, usually there are lots of them in various colours. Didn't see any this visit. So much was cropped and I'm very tall, so that's not happening in winter (or anytime really!). Lots of rails with small and large sizes but no mediums. Their jeans sizing seems to have gone strange. Normally I like their boots, but there was nothing.
And the queues, dear god - the queues 😭 This was Manchester Arndale btw.

kennycat · 06/11/2021 00:47

I think what’s good in primark is the exit…

Iflyaway · 06/11/2021 01:00

I agree. I don't do "disposable fashion". Have had clothes over 30 years in my cupboards (always recycling to charity shops) but love Primark for their simple comfortable clothes that I never find anywhere else.

NekoShiro · 06/11/2021 01:17

Shoes are worth looking at, cheap but still long lasting

Totally agree with this. I don't understand the disposable fashion thing. Generally I wear stuff until it fulls apart, occasionally I'll get rid of things, but I always charity shop them or swap them. Primark lasts as well as most things, my t-shirts are pretty much all Primark, they don't shrink and wear well. Once went on holiday, the weather turned and I'd forgotten sensible shoes. Bought a pair of boots that were marked down to £4, thought they'd probably only last the holiday. They are still in wear now about 4yrs later.

SweetieP1e · 06/11/2021 09:40

I love their vest tops and their tights. I've also recently bought a 3 pack of their period pants which turned out to be great. Only used for light- medium flow but a real surprise as I'd never considered period underwear until reading a MN thread but all the others are very expensive for something you just want to try out.

TheCategoryIs · 06/11/2021 10:22

I agree stuff in Primark can last as long or longer than expensive brands. My issue is the fact we can only assume at the prices charged, there are unethical practices somewhere along the line and cheap clothing encourages a culture of disposable fashion. I've seen bags of clothing on Oxford Street where people seem to have got bored before they even get home.
