Which skincare range?

I used Clarins until about seven or eight years ago when I went to buy both a day and a night cream and the cost was about £160 and I decided that was just too much money.

Since then I have been using Liz Earle. Initially I liked the simplicity of the range but over the last couple of years there have been more and more 'must use' products added and others reformulated.

I have no particular skin problems just normal skin for someone of 56. It could be a bit firmer round the jowls area and I have normal fine lines on forehead and eyes.

Any suggestions preferably at a similar price point to Liz Earle.

I also used Clarins for years - an extra firming day and night cream which were excellent, but like you, I found the cost was simply too high!
Liz Earle Superskin was the next choice, and was fine, but I agree it has changed. I now use Aldi face creams, plus the Neal’s Yard Frankincense cream - it scored highly in the Beauty Bible awards, and it’s very good. I’ve also been using some Verde products - really like them so far, and the neck cream seems excellent. Worth a look.

Clarins lovers, you can get discontinued bargains now in branches of Beauty Outlet.

roastednut · 24/10/2021 23:19

I can definitely recommend Beauty Pie. Products are lovely once you get your head around the concept Grin
Here's a link for a free month but do research it for yourself first Smile I genuinely love it.

I'll recommend Fresh and Caudalie range-wise, both available at Space NK although I'm usually ploughing through oddbod GWP items and I don't think I've had a single brand regime in years.

Superdrug Vitamin E cream is the moisturiser I always go back to despite having tried loads of fancy brands, and I buy the Vitamin E oil too Smile.

stevalnamechanger · 24/10/2021 23:32

No range

Sunscreen
Prescription Tretinoin
Basic Moisturizer
Cleanser

Will do more for you than any range ever will 🤣

trulyconfuseddotcom · 24/10/2021 23:48

@stevalnamechanger How does one get it on prescription please? Thanks.

stevalnamechanger · 25/10/2021 00:04

Dermatica or skin and me online .

(Or private Derm is the old fashioned route )

Alvinne · 25/10/2021 00:07

I've always found both clarins and LE too scented and just not particularly good. Not sure why you've dismissed The Ordinary and Inkey list, both have great products plus you can customise your routine to what is good for your particular skin, rather than just buying a range.

I'd agree with @stevalnamechanger , though i don't use tret myself at the moment. You can buy tretinoin online just google, or look at Skin+me or dermatica etc

MrsCardone · 25/10/2021 03:24

I am very suspicious of The Ordinary.

Wearethetwirl · 25/10/2021 03:39

I tried Lacura by Aldi after hearing rave reviews. Left my skin with blotches. Worst skincare product I’ve ever bought.

TammyTwoSwanson · 25/10/2021 07:08

I love the inkey list. I was skeptical of their price point too, but all the derms on YouTube rate them really highly. My skin is better now than it has ever been

BusterGonad · 25/10/2021 07:19

I'm really into Nuxe at the moment, I have the face cream/balm and the eye cream in the pink upside tube. It works for me, and my skin has never been so soft. Also no eczema break outs!

Findingthelight1 · 25/10/2021 07:26

Aldi Lacura for me. I was very, very, skeptical but tried it after the reviews on here. Now I feel a fool for spending hundreds over the years on Clarins. Everything I've tried from the Lacura ranges is excellent. I'm also now using the dupe Benefit They're Real mascara and the dupe hair mask, as well as the full skincare range. Am hooked!

Girlintheframe · 25/10/2021 07:42

I like the Medik 8 serums too.

Basic cleanser and moisturizer, though have just bought The Neu Co moisturizer from Cukt beauty to try for winter. I've never found an ingredients last for Aldi skincare and am therefore reluctant to use it as not sure if it's fragrances.

Girlintheframe · 25/10/2021 07:43

🤦🏻‍♀️ appalling spelling

Ponks · 25/10/2021 07:46

I try a lot of different brands but Boos No7 Protect and Perfect range is surprisingly good and you can always get 3 for 2 or half price offers.

RampantIvy · 25/10/2021 08:05

Ridiculous I know, but I'm always reluctant to try something that is a much lower price point.

Sorry, but you are being ridiculous. Most of the £££ is hype, marketing and packaging.

I am fortunate to have even tempered skin and flit between various brands. I have recently used Temple Spa, no7 Protect and Perfect, Korres, Garnier, The Bodyshop vitamin E and Superdrug Naturally Radiant. My skin loves them all. BTW I'm 62 and have good skin.

Inthesameboatatmo · 25/10/2021 09:56

I'm another one saying the ordinary or inky list and I say that after years of clarins and other high end price points.
