What are we feeling about Borg/Faux Shearling coats

They are nearly everywhere this autumn/winter. I saw this sleeveless River Island version on a YouTube ‘influencer’ video. I loved it and couldn’t resist ordering it immediately. Unfortunately, when it arrived, although I liked it, I didn’t love it, so back it went.

I thought maybe it would look better with sleeves and buttons (I really didn’t like the press studs. So I tried this version on in the shop. I liked it much more, but suspect the fabric would begin to look scruffy after maybe just one season, plus it’s very much a fashion item, so could look dated fairly quickly. Therefore, I felt I couldn’t justify the price (it’s a shame H&M don’t do one). They do feel gorgeously snuggly on though, so it’s tempting.

I think they are already a bit passé, they seem quite 2019 to me, surprised to see them out again this year. As they are such a distinct look they do date quicker than a current silhouette in a traditional fabric like wool.

Blazers and shackets are what I am seeing on bloggers this autumn, with over sized midi length wool coats for winter.

Just seen this one. I love the blue. Its pricey, but I have a Bluelight discount. I would have liked it a bit longer though.

Bump 😳

I recently bought this pink boucle coat from Sainsburys. It was £45. I only like how it looks whilst it's undone, so I won't be wearing it done up.

They are a bit dated and don't wear well once they get a bit worn they look terrible

A couple of comments about them being dated.. I'm afraid I don't follow fashion 'trends'. I like what I like. I think we should all just wear what we want, what we like, what makes us feel good, happy, comfortable and ourselves - and absolutely not worry or care what anyone else thinks.

Fortunately, with Boden, if something looks worn or tatty anywhere, even a year after purchase, we can return it and get a credit. So if I like the blue one when it arrives, that will be useful.

They aren’t classics and my guess would be that individual items made of this stuff will look tired and scruffy pretty quickly. So they’re never going to be anything other than fast fashion, and I don’t feel comfortable buying that any more. I don’t need more clothes, so I can only justify buying if I know I’m going to get a lot of wear out of something for several years.

I'm 5'2" and it comes down to the back of my knees.

They were very very trendy in 1974! And periodically ever since.

It can never be wrong to wear fun fur, imho.

Rather lovely, looks snug - if you like it, get one and enjoy it - it doesn't need to last forever, some things don't - and can become cat blankets 😂😂😂😂
