Hobbit Feet & Cruel Work Footwear

I have really wide feet. As in, forget about wide fitting from places like Clarks or M&S. E and EE width are definitely not wide enough. My feet are shaped not unlike the boxes that shoes come in. Only size 5 though. The only place I can find anything with a really wide box toe that fit is Keen but they currently don't stock anything suitable for a return into the office. The only things I've found online have looked like something my late grandmother would turn her nose up at. All ruched leather bootees and whilst I'm no style guru, even I have some standards. Please does anyone know where I can get some flat, lace up boots or v smart trainers that I can wear with trousers ? Thank you.

If you are prepared to pay and wait a few weeks you can have some shoes custom made to your foot size bespoke.

Brooks are good. These are mens in width 4E (EEEE). They only start at a 6 but I've always had to size up a full size with Brooks so the 6 should be right for your size 5 feet.

@Morgantowers

Simply Be.

They have standard, wide, extra wide, Ee wide and the EEE wide. I can’t fit in clarks or marks wide shoes and I’ve just bought boots in an extra wide. My point is you will find shoes there. Good luck

I was going to recommend simply be as well. I am a 9EEE! And almost all my shoes now come from there. Though I recently discovered that Hotters EE fit me well and the quality is good.

I refuse to squeeze my feet into uncomfortable tight shoes.

Barefoot. Vivos or Merrells. I've been wearing them for about seven years now. Just got some new Vivos and the sole feels a bit more solid. They do some black leather lace-ups that would be good for work.

Have you tried asking your local cobbler/Timpsons if they can stretch a pair? I used to take my mums to my local one and they could stretch them so they were comfortable

Thank you for this thread - also have nice sturdy feet - “good for walking” I say to my similarly afflicted son. Some excellent suggestions I hadn’t come across before.

I just want to say - why on earth do women’s wide fits come in multiples of “E”s ?!? What’s wrong with going up to F, G, H… like a normal alphabet? Boys shoes seem to manage it - my son is an H (well, H++). Do they think our delicate lady brains would explode in embarrassment if we got given a bigger letter than E???

ViperAtTheGatesOfDawn · 02/10/2021 23:13

All of these EEEE+ shoes being linked have really pointy and tight toe boxes.

If you want to maintain decent foot function and not have horrific bunions you need to look at shoes that allow your toes to splay naturally.

coodawoodashooda · 03/10/2021 09:08

Oh i bought a shoe stretcher from amazon. I have a pair stretching in the wardrobe as we speak.

UntilYourNextHairBrainedScheme · 03/10/2021 09:35

Talipesmum I live in Germany and women's shoes do come in normal letter sizes up to K. I like Bama for actual boots and shoes - weirdly you can't pick a width, rather read the description to see whether that shoe/ boot is an E, F, G, H or K fit (I'm not sure I exists,so still idiosyncratic).

www.reno.de/bamatex-stiefel-mittelbraun-1064593/

I didn't bother recommending them as as faras I'm aware you can't get them in the UK. I can actually buy my true size in Bama - 39 H - which is a 6 - and have sandals where my toe actually reaches the end! In other brands I do usually go up to a 40, so half a size, even when theyre wide fitting brands.

My feet are very similar. I use Brooks for running shoes, Salomon for walking shoes and Simply B for other shoes. That said I do not possess a pair of shoes that I love - just ones that fit.

I have had some success with stretchers but it is an ongoing problem.

I agree, but they are very difficult to find particularly when one has very long toesSad
Why do manufacturers insist on narrowing the toe area in shoes ?
