I used to easily spend £200 on Boden a month and knew it would fit me and that I'd like it. I can't even find one thing I like these days, what happened?

On the back of Annie's recommendation, any school staff should register with Discount for Teachers (it's free. They always have at least 20% of Boden.

The Blue Light discount also applies to Fire Service and Police Staff, possibly Paramedics too.

@ColdTattyWaitingForSummer

BTW the jersey midi dress linked on page one is now down to £32 (also haven’t ordered anything for ages, but quite tempted by that one!) Agree that prices have hiked though, although still love my older dresses and Breton tees.
I bought it last night Grin.

My current gripe is the clothes that are on sale that were never on the website previously...where did they come from?? Very tempted to get my daughter the rainbow cardigan. We already have the rainbow hoodie.

Ireolu · 26/10/2021 18:50

She flicks through the catalogue pointing and I say no too expensive!

The dress I just bought has been on the website for ages but I left it as £80 was too much for a jersey dress. They're not DFS! Grin

On the contrary I think they finally have some decent clothes, albeit far too expensive

My review for Boden Chinos I doubt it will be published.

My review of the boden chinos: Pros
Quality Materials
Great Color
Cons
Poor Fit
Best uses
Casual Wear
I bought the Abingdon chinos in the hope they'd add to my stable of work ready Boden trousers. But they are very casual and the odd sizing did not help. Previous Boden Chinos are neat fitting on the leg but these are quite large 'mom' style on the leg and snug on the waist. Overall an odd style of chino with the central seam down the middle of the leg which tickles as you walk and the front pockets you lose your phone in and could put a bottle of wine in (!). I prefer last year's style or the Rachel. That said there is so little buyable this year I will buy the grey too, as i can't find a single full price item to purchase this season. It's a total loss. In ten years of dedicated Bodening, I am defeated.

the trousers are just not as good as previous. Have the real Boden designers been abducted?

AnnieSnap · 26/10/2021 23:23

@DoodlesMam It will be interesting to see if they post it. They do post lots of negative reviews, so they might. Please give us a ‘head’s up’ if they do!

I used to buy a lot of workwear from Boden. They used to do a really good selection of workwear that was very smart, but not extremely corporate. Their ponte dresses were an excellent example of this.

Now they do nothing like this at all. Everything is jersey which is too unstructured and the prints are awful.

They used to do a fantastic tunic dress, V neck for about £50 in loads of colours. Wish they’d do stuff like that again

whataboutbob · 27/10/2021 19:54

Yes and I liked their crinkle shirts. They were proper thick cotton jersey, not viscose, well cut and flattering. The profit margin probably wasn’t good enough with world cotton prices going up.

DoodlesMam · 28/10/2021 21:49

The Sensible v neck dress is a Bronte Ottoman dress by Boden and i'm wearing one today. I just wish Boden could make more nice ottoman dresses in nice colours in fitted flattering shapes and not floral tents. It seems the sensible ottoman dress designer has been locked in an attic somewhere and my wallet is going to be locked in my handbag until he or she comes back.

exactly they used to do some really stylish but not floral disaster area clothes - well cut and flattering! have the designers who did these clothes been disappeared? I am so sad. So, the V neck dress you mention - I am wearing one today

I've just bought a lovely baggy v neck cashmere jumper. V pleased with it.
