Hello my son is starting sixth form and we are about to go and buy a couple of suits as they have to wear smart jacket smart trousers . He is carrying a little bit of weight on his stomach which he is trying to work on . Any advice on styles to go for and where to buy from thank you

Sainsbury’s.
Had to buy a suit in an emergency for my husband (on way to funeral after he realised he hadn't packed his suit trousers!).

We got our son's from M&S. They have different kinds of fit, so really helpful for us as DS is underweight. They have comfort fits too.

I was thinking m & s but my husband thinks teenagers will take the mickey out of him wearing m & s . I never know what younger ones think of m & s as clothing for older people

Next or H&M

my son wore M and S suits at school, and one from Next because he's really skinny and they fit ...nobody cared, suits are hardly high fashion and those who wanted to make a statement wore weird ties/ waistcoats.

Next unless you have a Slaters local to you?

ShaunaTheSheep · 28/08/2021 12:11

next

Machine washable, come in lots of sizes/lengths.

Lots of styles and fabrics to choose from.

I bought my ds sixth form suits from Dobell online. They have amazing bargains in the sales.

ImitationofBeing · 28/08/2021 12:22

Next. Since the departure of Debenhams who had a variety of brands, Next is gaining in the suit selling.

ImitationofBeing · 28/08/2021 12:22

Though is TopMan still around??

KittyMcKitty · 28/08/2021 12:25

Next - all sort of widths etc and machine washable.

I have bought a cheap M&S suit for DS for a wedding with a view to him wearing it for sixth form starting next year. When I was chatting with an assistant in the shop about how quickly the smaller sizes sold out she said it's because a lot of teenagers buy them to wear for sixth form.

SpeckledyHen · 28/08/2021 17:56

My sons wore Top Man and Zara .

M&S washable wool. 2 pairs of trousers.
DS1 had a decent one from Moss Bros when he went into Y12- and outgrew it by Easter. DS2 was out of it by Christmas. Sold it on at the scholl second hand sale.
The M&S ones were better value as could buy trousers and jackets in separately in the right size. I think we also bought longer trousers later in the 6th form as they tend to keep styles going for a while.

Fastforwardtospring · 28/08/2021 18:17

Moss Bros did a 6th Form deal last year, I think it was about £160 for suit + extra pair of trousers + 2 shirts, I didn’t think that was too bad, the sales advisor spent a lot of time getting the right fit, he looked great, just hoping it still fits!

Definitely Miss Bross. I thought the only did rentals but was genuinely impressed with the suit I bought for DS's prom. Would highly recommend + speedy delivery.

Twinkie01 · 28/08/2021 22:10

We bought from next.

ExtremelyDisorganised · 28/08/2021 22:14

Slaters. We took DS last year, the assistant more or less took one look at him and plucked the perfect suit from a huge selection.

Standrewsschool · 28/08/2021 22:20

Next - look on the clearance part of website for cheaper options. Blue seems to be popular.
