Yes, it's quite cold out today grrrr.

Wrap dress sounds good. But does it gape when you sit down?

ahundredtimes · 01/12/2007 16:52

lol.

I've had it for TEN years, and I've worn it for TEN years. That's all. Oh and the terrible bag of course. That's all. Well, actually there are a couple of coats . . . .

foxinsocks · 01/12/2007 16:52

(if it's just my body that makes wrap dresses do that, I'll get my coat)

ahundredtimes · 01/12/2007 16:53

Yes, and I don't feel thin enough for it either. Not with the social x-ray interior decorator. DH always says I have a mans wardrobe. I don't want one, I want a Laydees wardrobe.

NotQuiteCockney · 01/12/2007 16:53

So yes, um ... what do I wear?

I have:
tops:

  • a couple of tight black sweaters
  • lots of quite plain shirts
  • a nice black, red and white print blouse but I wore it last year
  • some men's style shirts. Prob too big
  • slinky racerback vests? Not really doable.
  • a thick pale blue satin top, but prob way too big
  • oh a cotton peasanty one in white, and another in purple
  • lots of fitted tshirts

bottoms:

  • lots of knee-length cotton skirts, in a range of prints - tempted by black + green one maybe? Or I have one in mustard, black, cream, i forget what else. All flouncy
  • a purple silk skirt, knee length, flouncy
(all other skirts don't really fit, whoops)

the rest:

  • fishnet tights (good as nothing clings to them)
  • high grey heels + lovely black flats
foxinsocks · 01/12/2007 16:54

Hmm I always feel I'm pretending when I'm in anything other than trousers which is always a bit embarrassing.

Wear the 10 yr old dress with a scarf to out-scarf your host. She'll be so surprised you dared to take her on.

ahundredtimes · 01/12/2007 16:54

Oh god, I wish Cod'd come back. OK NQC am going to look at your list more carefully, hang on.

NotQuiteCockney · 01/12/2007 16:55

The next top with cutaway bits looks ok (although of course doesn't fit, nothing really does atm except for the dress I wore last night, and some of the skirts), but looks dreadful with flouncy skirts. I have one long black skirt, and one long red slinky stretch skirt, I don't think they fit either ... well, the red one might ...

foxinsocks · 01/12/2007 16:55

Are you going on the tube NQC? The blakc and green sounds nice.

Dh came home late from work last night and was treated to lots of chundering (from others) on the trains last night. Laaaarvely.

NotQuiteCockney · 01/12/2007 16:56

Cod last posted less than five minutes ago ... not that I have anything against your advice, 100x, pity you're not coming, I would have been curious to meet you. (I live not far away, so going is easy, iyswim.)

ahundredtimes · 01/12/2007 16:56

I've decided on the purple flouncy skirt, tights and grey heels so far NQC. What's going to go well with that on the top? Have you a grey fitted shirt?

foxinsocks · 01/12/2007 16:56

Have a good time cod with your pink boa!

NotQuiteCockney · 01/12/2007 16:56

I'm wavering about travel, might bicycle. Might walk. Might take taxi. No idea really. I'm not far away at all, probably a half hour walk or something.

ahundredtimes · 01/12/2007 16:57

She's gone to get ds3. He is probably at some olympics training meeting or something.

NotQuiteCockney · 01/12/2007 16:57

No grey fitted shirt. The black sweaters work ok with the purple flouncy. The pale grey/blue satin shirt might work? It's thick, though, and long sleeved, so likely to leave me annoyed ... could wear a nice-ish vest underneath with option to remove?

ahundredtimes · 01/12/2007 16:58

You'll look great NQC. Are you nervous about going? It'll be rather fascinating won't it?

ahundredtimes · 01/12/2007 16:59

Yes, are the shirts short? If they're short enough you could wear vest under, and half-undone, but depends on the fullness of the skirt really.

Whizzz · 01/12/2007 16:59

Have fun everyone !

NotQuiteCockney · 01/12/2007 16:59

I have a lovely big wardrobe of tailored work clothes in size 18. I am however a 12/14.

And then I have lots of clothes to collect children from school on a bicycle with.

And a small collection of v random clothes I've bought to wear out, in the last couple of months, some of which fit.

Oh, I have a v weird smock type thing, dungaree thing, with a skirt, that's short and black and quite sweet, that I could wear a fitted tshirt under. It's cute. It might fit.

Oh, and there's a lovely silk dress with silk-screened stars all over the skirt, purple and blue. Very nice. Quite norkish (strangely, as I basically have none), made bespoke for me. When I was a size 18. Might work, anyway, though ...

ahundredtimes · 01/12/2007 17:00

Yes that sounds nice, especially if top goes with shoes. I must go and look at my clothes now. Have fun all!

NotQuiteCockney · 01/12/2007 17:00

Not really nervous, went last year. Have been in quite a few online communities, been to lots of meets. Everyone else is too busy worrying about their outfits to notice mine!

The work shirts are long, I think, quite old. Very big. (Can steal work shirts of DH's, if I want, but they're even longer.)

Will go poke in wardrobe and try on silk dress ...

foxinsocks · 01/12/2007 17:01

I think this is the problem with having kids isn't it. I have one or two fab things from pre-kids that are a size 10 (hollow laugh).

All my current stuff is size 12 (but I think size 12 is bigger than the old size 12, well my pre-kids size 12 anyway).

Tis v annoying.

SO ahundred, what are you going to wear then?

ahundredtimes · 01/12/2007 17:03

Dunno.

I have too many old things, and then I buy crap new things. I'm not very good at dressing really. Though I do have that velvet coat. I might just refuse to take it off or something? I might wear nothing but the velvet coat and a scarf. Ha. I'll give her taupe.

francagoestohollywood · 01/12/2007 17:04

are you going to the meet up ahundred?
