What’s been your favourite colour this summer?

Also if anyone has any recommendations for a properly perfect red gel varnish (to use with gel lamp) I’d really appreciate it! Needs to be your classic Parisienne red.

Dusky pink Essie nails here. Done mine and dd’s today.

Oh my, these are my home gels 3 weeks in. I’ve been too busy to take them off but they are awful now. Tomorrow! It doesn’t help that I was picking at my surrounding skin/cuticles this morning whilst waiting to here about DS GCSE results!

Hello nail people, I have a question. I've been biting my nails for 20 years and really want to stop. None of the usual habit breakers work. Does getting acrylics work to provide a barrier? And if so how often would I need to have them down to keep them nice and neat. I hate long nails - can you get shortish ones?

Thank you @eurochick! I am resisting the urge to peel them off though, I never usually leave them beyond 2 weeks.

Home gel people - what do you use? I favour Bluesky but wonder what else is reliable?

YukoandHiro are they bitten quite far down? If not I’d say go for gel, which will ‘grow out’ with your natural nail.

But yes you can keep them short. I prefer short nails too and always have them filed to no longer than finger length. Looks great with a dark polish.

Having these taken off this week and I think I'm going for a some form of lilac ombré. My nail technician must have over 100 colours so I rarely have just one colour on my nails at a time.

@YukoandHiro I used to bite mine until the they bled. Gels are the only thing that stop me biting them. My technician used gel bottle stuff that apparently promotes growth/strength. This was then about 4 months ago.

Just done these tonight. Had to cut nails a bit short and the edges need tidying!

Candy pink this week. Starting to look forward to autumnal shades.

@YukoandHiro I think you'd struggle to bite through acrylics, mine are rock hard. You can definitely get short ones, have a look at my photo below...I can't cope with long nails at all!

Alternatively, you could try gels with a layer of builder gel underneath the colour, also really hard, I don't think you could bite through that easily either and it'd just be on your own nails so you could have them as short as you wanted

Subtle ombré though. A bit hard to tell.

This is a gel polish I bought this week from ebay, it's an orangey bright red. I really love it, very summery.

White & pink ombre for me :)
