Going for the chop today

I have fine dull lifeless hair... I have posted on here before asking for ideas of what I can do with my hair. I'm booked in today... and I think I'm going to go short(er).

Pics of my hair. Second pic is what id love, but don't think my hair is thick enough to carry this off.

Any ideas?

@IDontThinkSoNo I did say it's not as short as the photo I posted.

It's absolutely nothing like the photo posted though, that wasn't long enough to tie up. I'm really confused

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 22/07/2021 11:57

You chickened outWink

Looks lovelySmile

Nuggetnugget · 22/07/2021 11:59

It's lovely. Maybe worth going back in a month or so.

How does the OP having less cut off her hair than she was thinking of really confuse you?!

Guiltymumofkids · 22/07/2021 12:06

Can we see it down?? X

MaintainingPositivity · 22/07/2021 12:09

Be brave OP and go back for a proper chop - your hair looks much better though.

My old hairdresser was 'cautious' and always talked me out of any major change. It really got me down and I now have a new hairdresser who is fab, last time she convinced me to put on a pink toner...very dubiously I agreed, it looked fab Grin

Phrased it wrongly! Should have said Did you change your mind or did the hairdresser not do what you asked as the style is completely different

huuuuunnnndderrricks · 22/07/2021 15:11

It looks the same to me .. how much did you cut off? I think it would look thicker if it was shorter .

Beamur · 22/07/2021 15:15

Looks nice
Get a bit more cut off next time! It will look great.

IDontThinkSoNo · 22/07/2021 15:25

Agree with pp, I wasn’t expecting to see a hair style tied up, it’s hard to see what it looks like really when it’s tied up. Obviously it’s nothing like the pic from the first op but it does look nice.

shrumps · 22/07/2021 21:08

It's only hair and will grow back if you don't like it. I had a pixie about 5 years ago - looked lovely when my face was thin and I kept up the maintenance (6 week cuts) but i started looking like Nicola sturgeon pretty quickly once I'd put on a few LB and lock down hit! I've now grown it into a long Bob and loving having longer hair again. So I say do it, but be prepared for the upkeep.

shrumps · 22/07/2021 21:11

Sorry, posted before I'd read update! You've had a trim, not a short cut, so ignore me 😂

AColdDuncanGoodhew · 22/07/2021 22:47

Nicola Sturgeon Grin I get that cos that’s the way my hair grows.

I want to keep my super super short pixie but the 6-8 weekly cuts is a pain. I’m thinking of growing it into a short bob but theyre also a lot of upkeep. I cant stand hair on the back of my neck, so as soon as it gets to that length I’m right into the hairdressers

Coffeepot72 · 23/07/2021 20:41

OMG @shrumps, I started a whole thread last year, about inadvertently morphing into Nicola Sturgeron following a short cut! I’m clearly not the only one with this problem! I found it very hard to make a short cut look edgy and have grown my hair again.

mrsnibblesisahero · 24/07/2021 07:35

This is what I want to do! Same hair issues as you (although yours looks lovely, much lovelier than mine)

mrsnibblesisahero · 24/07/2021 07:42

Just seen your update pic which looks great, can we see it down for inspiration (I may also chicken out)

thewinehasgonetomyhead · 24/07/2021 09:12

I will take a pic of it completely down once I've had a shower. I'm definitely going to get another inch or so off next time (May book in ASAP) it feels so much thicker. It's tricky getting used to not being able to chuck it in up in a messy bun but it's worth it.

Looking forward to seeing the updated pic op. I'll be honest, I couldn't tell the difference at all in the update pic you posted previously. It looked exactly the same to me, but with the front tied back. Grin
I'm glad you are happy with it though. That's the main thing!
Try the Sharon Stone cut next time. I think it would look great with your hair type. Fine hair is such a pain isn't it? I understand it feels like a big leap though so maybe doing it a bit at a time will work better for you.
