Are Uggs a good idea? Obviously they are ugly, but my feet are really cold. If not, what else to wear on my feet in the winter? Trod in a puddle on Monday and now obsessed

vacua · 22/11/2007 18:36

HappyDaddy · 22/11/2007 18:39

DW puts her feet on me, that works.

filthymindedvixen · 22/11/2007 18:40

thermal over the knees in boots - but i bought them years ago. Am desperate to find some more

dinny · 22/11/2007 18:41

Uggs are great and look nice, IMO

MitfordSisters · 22/11/2007 18:45

lol thanks but i don't know if you're really helping.

If i was a twig like kate moss, i'd go for Uggs, but I might just look like a shire horse?

filthy - are they like liners? where from?

Scootergrrrl · 22/11/2007 18:47

Uggs would be ruined if you trod in puddles, although they are lovely and warm.

vacua · 22/11/2007 18:48

what about those green wellies that have frog eyes on the toes?

ALWAYS wanted some of those

filthymindedvixen · 22/11/2007 18:48

they were from a camping/outdoorsy shop years ago. They were silky (so thin) yet thermal. I have no idea where to get more from...
Gawd, maybe Damart do some

vacua · 22/11/2007 18:49

you can even get SHOES of them!

MitfordSisters · 22/11/2007 18:53

stoppit vacua too funny.

that's another thing about uggs - what is point if you can't go in puddles?

lou33 · 22/11/2007 18:55

i love my knee high biker boots

Scootergrrrl · 22/11/2007 18:59

I like these - warm AND dry!

MrsBadger · 22/11/2007 18:59

get normal decent-looking boots (MN favourites thus or similar but, crucially, in leatgher not suede)
polish / wax religiously to keep waterproof
wear with ski socks

Anna8888 · 22/11/2007 19:01

Boots. Nice black leather knee-length with adjustable calf size (buckles) to be worn with both tights/skirts and socks/trousers tucked in (if slim fit).

Gabor, a bargain at £125.

Anna8888 · 22/11/2007 19:02

On rainy days - Hunters with thick socks.

vacua · 22/11/2007 19:03

YES HUNTER WELLIES

MitfordSisters · 22/11/2007 19:04

I'm enjoying the whole range now - www.uggaustralia.com/ProductDetails.aspx?gID=w&categoryID=283&productID=1617&model=La+Jolla+ - thanks scootergrrrl. They're call it a laid-back bootie though which I don't know is a good thing - perhaps that's cool in Australia?

OP posts:
MitfordSisters · 22/11/2007 19:06

ALways get drawn in by the suede

OP posts:
Scootergrrrl · 22/11/2007 19:12

And if you're going to buy from US sites, remember the dollar is weak atm so it's a bargain. Buy two pairs!

MrsBadger · 22/11/2007 19:21

[slap]

Anna's Gabor boots - veeery nice, also in brown [adds to wish list]

Anna8888 · 22/11/2007 19:24

I've also got the Gabor Helena in brown suede - got them in last Winter's sale for £45 - very comfortable.
