What foundation do you use?

I’ve been using Clinique Superpowder double powder in matte beige for years but I think I’m falling out of love with it.
I’m 41 and find it’s started to slip off my face by mid-afternoon and I look really shiny.
I’ve always used powders as I’m not keen on the feeling of thick liquid foundation but I feel like I might be missing a trick.
Please share with me your favourites.

Liquid foundation technology has come a long way over the years.

Try a serum foundation like Armani Maestro, they are long wearing with plenty of pigment and medium coverage but a weightless feel.

I also quite like the Bobbi Brown liquid powder foundation, it's a very lightweight foundation which dries to a matte finish and doesn't budge.

@ninebiscuits

I love the no7 hydraluminous too. I use the Avon magix primer first, and a bit of no7 loose powder on top.
Avon primers are amazing. Some of the best.
Justcashnosweets · 20/06/2021 09:37

I use a tinted moisturiser, concealer and powder on the shiny bits.amd thats it. I don't really like the feel of Foundation on my skin and find it shows up the lines around my eyes even more. Maybe its the way I apply it? Who knows!

Whatisgoingonhere · 20/06/2021 09:40

The Ordinary serum foundation here too!

Sickoffamilydrama · 20/06/2021 10:03

Bare minerals, original powder foundation.

Used it for about 15 years now.

threestars · 20/06/2021 10:34

Bare Pro from Bare Minerals

Makiage: this is my 'summer' foundation, as the shade was slightly too dark when I ordered it but fine now my skin's slightly tanned.
Both go on really easily with a brush and even out skin tone, and both feel light.
Then lightly dab with Perfecting Veil from bare minerals.

MozzchopsThirty · 20/06/2021 10:40

Il Makiage, it's fantastic and I get a lot of comments when wearing it
It's everything a foundation should be, perfectly matched to my skin tone, buildable, light but good coverage, no caking, stays put all day

Hydraluminous just slid off my face, it was very shiny and a terrible colour match. I didn't even finish it

BusterGonad · 20/06/2021 14:49

Bareminerals foundation stick, it's the best I've ever used for my dry skin with Estee Lauder double wear concealer (serum at one end) under my eyes. This gives me my perfect skin, soft, dewy and radiant (especially with a cream blush on top).

JinglingHellsBells · 20/06/2021 15:13

Bobbi Brown Skin Foundation
Dior Star Glow

If you can find the right shade, Clinique Even Better might suit you, or their EB Glow or EB Refresh.

HoxtonBonnet · 20/06/2021 15:22

I have been using Clinique Even Better for years. It doesn't feel heavy and evens everything out nicely.

Arrierttyclock · 20/06/2021 15:24

I switched from Estée Lauder double wear to Nars and I'm so glad I did

MarshaBradyo · 20/06/2021 15:25

Chantecaille when I use it very infrequently

But I actually preferred the old formulation of Perricone No Foundation until they changed it

ChequerBoard · 20/06/2021 15:30

Having not worn makeup throughout the last year+ of WFH, I've just had to restock my makeup bag for some face to face meetings.

I'm now a convert to Chantecaille Just Skin tinted moisturiser, it's so comfortable and light and gives a really natural finish which is much more forgiving on my more mature face!

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 20/06/2021 15:34

Double Wear, tried everything else and nothing else works for me. If I want a sheerer I mix it with my moisturiser. Amazing stuff.

whymewhyme · 20/06/2021 15:37

Nights out ( what are those again?!) double wear mixed with a tiny blob on moisturiser to its lighter or its sucking into evey fine line lol i brought hydroluminous as its raved about on here it looks stunning but for me slids off after a few hrs even with primer and setting powder !

RogueV · 20/06/2021 15:38

EL double wear
Mac studio fix

Holy grail for me

cookiemonster5 · 20/06/2021 15:47

I was using too faced born this way or make up forever ultra hd stick but I don't have any dark enough for just now so I'm back to double wear and Marc jacobs remarcable. Normally the double wear though because the bottle of the Marc jacobs is horrendous. I do want something lighter coverage but I haven't got round to trying to find something yet. I can't be bothered trying to colour match lol.

lindyloo57 · 20/06/2021 16:46

I stopped using foundation, I use a tinted spf with a little powder over top, a mineral powder or laura geller balance and brighten, I've been using cerave spf or the Australian one. It seems to last until I take it off at night.

Elsabet · 20/06/2021 16:46

I am using the Chanel Ultra Le Teint, the best one I have tried so far. I couldn’t get on with EL double wear and I have boycotted the Dior counter since the sales assistant was rude!

JinglingHellsBells · 20/06/2021 18:57

No 7 Hydraluminous is good IF you can get the right shade. There aren't many and they are all quite pink toned. I loved it but the 'right' shade for me made my skin look grey-pink and the lightest shade is too pale.

Blossomtoes · 20/06/2021 19:05

Nothing has ever beaten Suqqu for me. It’s £££ but you definitely get what you pay for.

66babe · 20/06/2021 19:10

I have tried many over the years but always come back to Boots No7
Intelligent foundation ( medium)
It's so light and non cakey , I see it more as a tinted moisturiser but it is called a foundation
Summer - winter - always just seems to even out my skin tones and give my skin a nice finish
Love it

Frolickingfoam · 20/06/2021 19:16

I have stopped wearing foundation too as I've got older. I think it is ageing. Focus on skincare and put concealer where you need it

It's not at all ageing if it's the right sort.
Blossomtoes · 20/06/2021 19:25

Definitely not ageing. Mine knocks about a decade off me and adds polish.
