Should I go back to the charity shop and get that £70 black Armani blazer if it's still there?

I can't decide. It's pure wool, excellent condition and fit me really well.
It's got shoulder pads I don't love but maybe I can remove.
I don't massively need it especially as smart office wear feels pretty irrelevant these days.
But I do love a good blazer.
I've already got a very floppy unstructured black silk blazer that annoys me a bit.
I've got to decide today as going home from holiday tomorrow.

yes i would, i think you will regret it if you dont

applepineapple · 13/06/2021 10:20

Go for it!!

Timeforabiscuit · 13/06/2021 10:21

Yes - go back, double check the quality, if you have the money in the bank (and it isn't a fake) then I'd say its a steal.

Don't let the warm weather fool you -winter is coming!

StiffyByng · 13/06/2021 10:22

Yes, definitely. Otherwise you will repeatedly find outfits that would be so much better with that blazer and regret the decision each time.

Ninkanink · 13/06/2021 10:27

Definitely!

But it’s not likely that it’ll still be there (just managing expectations...).

Iseeyoulookingatme · 13/06/2021 10:51

No don't go back. You didn't like it enough to buy it the first time.

notacooldad · 13/06/2021 10:54

What stopped you buying it in the first place?

That answer should help you decide!

Floisme · 13/06/2021 12:12

I recently walked away from a grey Armani blazer and it was only £25 Grin Went back the next day and of course it had gone.

I was cross with myself for the rest of the day but looking back, I think my instincts were correct: My workplace was pretty casual even before lockdown. I've already got several tailored jackets. I'm heading towards retirement and I didn't like it enough to wear outside of work.

So year, as a previous poster says, it depends on why you let it go in the first place.

GreyhoundG1rl · 13/06/2021 12:13

God, yes! You'll be lucky if it's still there, though.

BikeRunSki · 13/06/2021 12:15

Yep

PacifyLulu · 13/06/2021 12:20

Yes

KrakowDawn · 13/06/2021 12:30

Not for the label, just for the fit.
Check for any moth holes or abrasion wear too.

madamceladon · 13/06/2021 12:33

Thanks all, I was lucky, I've got it now. It's just beautiful quality fabric and fit. I'll play around with styling it for outside work.
Hadn't bought I think cause I was in a rush and thought can't fit it in but I can ask someone to post it.
Cheers!

partyatthepalace · 13/06/2021 12:37

Photo!

SausagePourHomme · 13/06/2021 12:37

if I was you I'd bag it up and put it in the freezer for a couple of days in case it's harbouring any clothes moth larvae - that should kill it off.

MaloInAnAppleTree · 13/06/2021 12:39

What sort of Armani? Collezioni? Emporia? Exchange? Giorgio?!?

Probably a good choice in any case though. I had a Emporio coat which I got in the sale which did me sterling service for many years and I still have a gorgeous Collezioni jacket from a charity shop which the tailor drooled over when I took it into have the sleeves taken up.

Sugarcoatedalmond · 13/06/2021 12:40

I would say no but I’m making a conscious effort to not buy any smart / office / going out clothes & focus on my casual wardrobe

FourTurnings · 13/06/2021 12:42

Hope you bought it.

madamceladon · 13/06/2021 12:45

@MaloInAnAppleTree
It's collezioni.
Can you tell me the difference between all those lines, as I don't know?

Will put up a pic later on.

I'll also declutter some crap so I can justify giving it a pride of place.

Emporio would be top end ready to wear. Collezioni is slightly lower down the scale (but above Exchange) and now discontinued. I think it varied in quality over the years but its better stuff was really great - my tailor took a look at my (pure wool) jacket from Barnado’s and said “you’ve got six hundred quid’s worth of garment there”

I think a good black blazer will be really useful next autumn, regardless of the trend to casual dressing. The shops are full of them styled with jeans.

madamceladon · 13/06/2021 15:05

Here she is - hard to get a decent shot in the light here
