I honestly don't know anymore. I've lost weight but have a long way to go. I have a fancy afternoon tea coming up soon and thought this might be ok. In my head it all worked together but I honestly can't tell if it's ok. Thanks.

It's a lovely dress. I think the cardigan would be more summery. I don't think you need fake tan but definitely add some nail varnish.
Hanging the jacket in a steamy bathroom will help the creases fall out.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 10/06/2021 23:01

Agree that the sleeves need turning up on the jacket. The dress looks great. Jacket is fine and you'll be taking it off when you sit down. I

I don't like the sandals much.

GallopingGreen · 10/06/2021 23:07

It's a great dress on you and I like how you have picked out the pale pink in your shoes and jacket. Congratulations on your weight loss!!
I'd suggest a bit of tan/bronzer on the lower legs to brighten up the look. I just brush bronzer on, as I am useless at fake tanning and hate streaks.

Enjoy your afternoon tea!

HareofEasttown · 10/06/2021 23:21

The jacket is too scruffy I think. Nice dress and shoes!

sunshinesky · 10/06/2021 23:43

I really like the jacket and would order it if it wasn't so expensive!

sunshinesky · 10/06/2021 23:43

You look great, well done on the weight loss and have a lovely time!

JamesGetIn · 10/06/2021 23:54

I know 😬 it was expensive and I've not worn it yet. I'm hoping to get my money's worth!

Also thank you!

The jacket and dress are gorgeous - please don't swap the jacket out for a wrap, you're not your mum at a wedding. BUT because you are so pale, the sandals just sort of blend in and continue your legs in a weird way... Can't quite explain what I'm getting at... but you either need to tan or put a more definite colour of shoe on.

I've the same colour legs as you and can't be arsed tanning, so I'd go for a different shoe but that's completely up to you! You look great.

JamesGetIn · 11/06/2021 00:08

I'm considering these John Lewis sandals. Will hopefully contrast with my skin tone better, and no need to paint toenails - bonus! I might even get away with some barely there/oiled tights to warm up my legs. 7 denier or such.

I also love the Boden ones, but I think the ribbons might be a bit fussy and young for me.

Totally get what you mean holdon, have just posted some other options 😊

I love the jacket but think the little cardigan might be a better weight with the dress. Definitely not a wrap - they're a pain in the backside. I like the sandals and think painting your toe nails would give them a lift.

Namaste6 · 11/06/2021 00:24

Lovely dress! I agree with other posters, whilst the jacket looks great, if it's particularly fancy, I would go with either the cardi or a wrap. The latest sandals look really nice too. Congratulations on the weight loss. 🙏

Cocolapew · 11/06/2021 00:30

The colours might not be right but these are a better price than the Boden ones (unless you're happy with the price obviously)

Well done on your weight loss Op!
I’m very pale (practically translucent).
This gradual tanner works well on me, builds up very gradually, no hideous streaky bits.
Just apply every other day after showering.
Make sure you get the light one

Dress looks lovely.
I think the jacket is fine too. I like PPs suggestion of turning the sleeves up, and pushing them up.
Try the cardigan too.
And those espadrilles look good too.
Enjoy your fabulous afternoon tea!

HoldontoOneMoreDay · 11/06/2021 00:47

That's sweet of you to see what I mean, us translucent birds need to stick together! I'd give those denim wedges a go, because even if they don't work with that dress for £15 they're going to go with practically everything else you own.

PickAChew · 11/06/2021 00:49

The jacket is a bit flesh coloured.

M0rT · 11/06/2021 01:10

The outfit is well put together but I don't think the colour of the sandals or the jacket suit your skin tone.
I'm sorry the jacket is lovely but I have very similar skin and those colours do nothing for us.
If they had it in a more definite colour could you swap?
Well done on your weight loss and enjoy your afternoon tea.

JamesGetIn · 11/06/2021 01:11

Thanks everyone Smile

The denim wedges are really lovely, thanks Coco. I agree Holdon, I think they'd go with tons.

I will check out that tanner Elizabeth, thanks. Although I'm very pale, I'm meant to be if that makes sense, so I would just be looking to "warm up" rather than actually tan.

@Griefmonster

And pleeeeaaaaase no blazer or trench. That will look really stuffy. The more I think about it the more I really like what you have put together. I think it's a very clever outfit you've put together there. Have faith in your style and eye. And we'll done on the weight loss and enjoy your afternoon tea!
This. I think the shoes and jacket tie it together well. I am currently working on weight loss and as your body changes you do start to wonder and doubt when it comes to clothes. You look terrific though, and congrats on weight loss.
JamesGetIn · 11/06/2021 01:57

Thank you so much @blisstwins

The espadrilles are good. Much prefer them (or the idea) than the shoes in your picture which look too casual

Ha ha - yes, I know exactly what you mean! I never tan, even on holiday. So that stuff is good as it just adds a slight bit of colour without being 10 shades darker than the rest of you (I can’t be arsed doing the rest of me, I only ever do my legs!)
JesusMaryAndJosephAndTheWeeDon · 11/06/2021 13:29

I think the John Lewis espadrilles would look better. I'd like to see the dress with the cardi instead just for a comparison but the dress and jacket look great!

Oddbutnotodd · 11/06/2021 13:43

I think the jacket doesn’t go with the dress at all. Too flesh coloured and somehow a bit heavy. I think it doesn’t show off your waist either. I’m a similar shape to you and have never found a biker jacket that suits me. Shoes are a bit bland. I think espadrilles would look more stylish.
A cropped cardigan in a stronger colour would look better.
