My partner booked a theatre trip and weekend in London pre Covid and hopefully this august we can go we have booked an expensive restaurant on the Friday with a smart dress code then on the Saturday we have a pre theatre meal booked at an average restaurant and theatre after. I’m at a loss of what to wear I’m 27 size 10-12 if that helps

Theatre is normally casual but after lockdown - Definitely dress up! Sounds like a fab weekend. What are you going to see?

Those outfits are bit cheap/tacky though.

idontlikealdi · 19/05/2021 18:14

Sorry io but that's not working for you, and it's not a dinner dress. Where is your meal?

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 19/05/2021 18:19

You have a great figure. One I would kill for but that dress is doing nothing for you sorry.

Iminaglasscaseofemotion · 19/05/2021 18:19

I like thae black dress but wouldn't wear those boots. Thing over the knees are a thing of the past now.

Lavender201 · 19/05/2021 18:26

As a Londoner I do think all these outfits look far far too dressy, sorry.

I think a nice day dress or top and midi skirt would be better for the fancy restaurant and the theatre in August.

WineGetsMeThroughIt · 19/05/2021 18:31

I love the first outfit as it, and think pretty much anything goes in London. You would not look out of place in it. But if I'm being completely honest I don't like the second dress at all. Larger size or not, I think it's a bit dated and too OTT. Plus I don't think the colour works on you. You could do so much better than that one OP. You've got an amazing figure but that dress isn't doing it justice

Overwhelmed245 · 19/05/2021 18:57

Thank you any dress ideas for the dinner dress would be a great help I never get to fully dress up and wear smart dresses daily so something extra special for this dinner would be perfect I’m just not sure what to pick

I also have this dress that I brought in lock down on a whim but it’s to short for dinner

Apileofballyhoo · 19/05/2021 19:01

You have a gorgeous figure. I know that's absolutely no help!

Overwhelmed245 · 19/05/2021 19:05

Dress I brought in lock down

What would you wear

Wear the red dress to dinner! It's gorgeous on you 😍
Return the pale dress you need strong colours.
I like the black dress and boots but the theatre in August in London could be quite hot.
Don't worry about looking like a dressed up tourist because you will be Smile
I haven't been in London since January 2020 but any restaurants I was in had the whole gamut from day casual to Oscars suitable.
Have a great time!

scatteredglitter · 19/05/2021 19:13

second dress is better than the first you have a fabulous figure.

theatre is not too fussy so i would go in something i feel comfortable sitting down and atanding up in, and depending on where your seats are climbing stairs in and consider if you are going out afterwards too.

also it might be warm in august in london in august,

i miss london ...

you ha

I know I will sound mean- don't intend to-but I really think all your outfits are too dressy and not very modern. I know you want to dress up after a year in lockdown, but I have seen the current trend is very much " oh look I just threw this on and I look fab".

Overwhelmed245 · 19/05/2021 19:27

@Frequentflier I’ve never been one for trends but both dresses are oh polly and there definitely on trend

I do love the red dress

theweebabydonkey · 19/05/2021 19:31

Love the red dress!
The other one didn't fit well but also, the colour does nothing for you.
Where is your dinner, is it somewhere fancy/trendy/cool/etc
(Apologies if I've missed this)

SwimBaby · 19/05/2021 19:35

Oh wow definitely wear the red dress on the Friday, you look amazing in it.

Overwhelmed245 · 19/05/2021 19:36

I don’t no it’s a surprise in the past ive been to clos Maggiore, sketch had afternoon tea at the ritz and then some lovely smaller restaurants

OP posts:
username985 · 19/05/2021 19:36

the red dress is fantastic! the white / cream (?) one really isn't flattering, sorry.

tigerbreadandtea · 19/05/2021 19:37

Red is a good colour on you. The pale pink one does nothing for your figure and looks like really cheap material.

SwimBaby · 19/05/2021 19:39

Do you have any other footwear you could wear the first one with as it does suit you but would probably be hot with the boots?

BlueCowWonders · 19/05/2021 19:46

@Floisme

Restaurant? Theatre?? Shock After the year I've had I would dress the fuck up, and then some more.
Floisme I love your turn of phrase Grin

OP definitely wear the red dress. Presumably your boyfriend will love it -definitely not too short for dinner

JMAngel1 · 19/05/2021 19:54

Gorgeous black dress and red dress.
I love the SW boots too but you might be too hot. Maybe a wedge espadrille instead?

idontlikealdi · 19/05/2021 20:03

The second dress is a million times better!

Sisisimone · 19/05/2021 20:21

Send the pink one back, honestly it does nothing for you.
The red dress looks amazing on you, definitely wear it for dinner
I like the black dress as well though in the middle of summer wouldn't wear the boots. How about espadrilles or clog heeled sandals?

Overwhelmed245 · 19/05/2021 20:22

Pink dress is going back have also found another skirt In my wardrobe for the theatre will see if I can take a picture tomorrow x
