Help me choose Barbour jacket colour

Hi, I want to buy a new jacket Barbour Beadnell for my Bday.

Which colour do you like?
Navy or Sage? ( I don’t want olive or black/ brown)
I was thinking sage but then I already have a similar non Barbour jacket in same style and colour.
I never had a navy jacket.
I want it to look young and classic ( not an elderly lady coat)
Also which colour wears better in time?

Can I also ask, mil who has one- fairly new- she bought before Xmas months ago she says the zip is pain in the bum as it’s double zip and sometimes she can’t even zip it up.
She is not old old so her fingers are not shaky or whatever but she says sometimes the zip is very tricky? She actually took the coat back as she thought it’s it’s faulty but they told her they are all like that ..???

Don’t get me wrong. I don’t want it look smart office look like etc.
Just a runner jacket for a school run and rushing through the greens in a rain.
We walk through all sorts of mud etc so I was hoping this would be great coat, plus it has a bit of style.

I’ve got that jacket in sage. It’s lovely.

I like the sage but I want a to see how the navy looks on too - especially after many posters recommended navy.
I don’t have any store which sells Barbour near me so I can not go into shop and see how it looks.
I don’t buy expensive jackets often and I admit this is bit expensive for me so I did not want to get green one and wonder maybe I I should get the other.
I put it on credit card which one of I will immediately return- the one I dislike- it’s my Bday present so I want to choose wisely in regard of a colour.
Nothing ditzy attention seeking about it.
I got no family or close friends living near me and so I took the liberty to ask here, hoped naively for a opinion.
The voting is almost equal- so instead of wondering should/ shall I decided to see how both jackets look on.
Admin please delete this thread as in the end I decided to order both items to help me decide in real life.

Yes the zip is a pain in the arse. If you’ve seen the latest series of The Crown (which incidentally was otherwise one big ad for Barbour) there’s a bit where Anne is struggling with hers and Prince Philip does it up for her in a tender moment. Made me even more ambivalent about owning one. But I still love it!

Mil said that it’s ok to zip it up when not she wearing it but as soon she puts it on, it won’t work.
That’s a not good on a jacket like that. If it will be like that when I try both jackets on, I won’t keep any of them. What’s the point of a zipper on a jacket for rain is if so awkward to use.

I must say the navy one look great! It fits well and I like that one better than the sage.

It looks good. Much better fit than mine was and the colour is fine.

**The fit was not the Barbour's fault, it must have been me.

It does not look that good I think.
Plus I can not zip it up as of the difficult zipper.

Stick with the navy

The absolute 'classic' for a Barbour is the olive, but as you don't want that, the runner up colours are navy or brown.

And your right about how the navy one looks

@ILoveShula I find personally that even two same size items may not fit same.
I had this with many clothing.
This Sage fits a slightly smaller in the back, however the navy one fits well- they’re both same size.

As If I only would got the green one, I would wonder about the navy one and here you go- the navy one is actually better, plus I already own a very similar jacket in green.

The sage is darker than I expected. The navy is better and looks smart

With the double zip, there's a knack to it. You need to bottom zip to be down as far as it will go and the top zip flush against it - the bit where the zipper goes through needs to line up exactly.

Do a search for doing up a double zip.
