Can you help me find the holy grail of T-shirts please?

I want a really decent T-shirt. Soft, won’t go bobbly.

I have big boobs so don’t want a very high, closed round neck but slightly looser fit round neck is fine. Or ideally, a bit wider neck (slash neck? Is that it?). I have a quite long body so not too boxy / short either.

Ideally soft colours - white, grey, soft pink. Some small detail is fine - like a small pocket or logo but nothing flashy. Minus points for sparkles or motivational slogans you’d find on a bit of driftwood in someone’s house.

Can anyone help? Willing to pay up to £500 and part with a kidney if it’s perfect.

TIA

Rapanui. Long in the body, scoop neck, and sleeves that stop at a flattering point on chubby arms. I'm happy to take the change from your £500 as a finder's fee. Grin

I bought a tshirt from Next, called ‘cap sleeve tshirt ‘ which has a nice neckline and feels decent quality for a cheap tshirt. Uniqlo also have some good tshirts. I have one which is a ‘drape crew neck’, nice and soft material. Cheap again though. I’d pay more for a great tshirt, but even tshirts I have bought from Jigsaw etc haven’t always been good quality.

Sunspel have the best t-shirts. I have a few including colours like dusky pink and grey. They also have 30% off at the mo Wink

HeyGirlHeyBoy · 07/04/2021 16:11

Reiss have lovely vneck tshirts in those colours.

GravityFalls · 07/04/2021 16:12

I’m wearing one of those Next cap sleeved t-shirts now. Not bad quality cotton, nice neck line, good length and a fairly modern cut (loose but not too boxy). Got them in navy and khaki and considering a couple more colours, which is as good as recommendation as any!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 07/04/2021 16:13

I have a couple from Lands End which sound like the style/fit you want. I bought them from Debenhams in the sale, might be worth looking there as well as on their own website?

GravityFalls · 07/04/2021 16:13

www.next.co.uk/g57500s3/893996#893996 - lots of colours too

WellIWasInTheNeighbourhoo · 07/04/2021 16:15

I third Next, I like their v neck t's, very soft and don't go bobbly. Wouldn't buy Sunspel again, price was ridiculous, sizing far too small and not soft.

Megan2018 · 07/04/2021 16:17

I have got some of the next cap sleeves too as cheap options.
I’m still looking for a better quality one but these are good for the £

InsideNumberNine · 07/04/2021 16:17

I second @RockingMyFiftiesNot Lands End scoop neck, flattering fit over my 36E boobs, great material, washes well. I've got it in black, navy and white.

QuentininQuarantino · 07/04/2021 16:21

Uniqlo airism t shirts.
They skim, they’re long, they’re seamless and made of something clever which means you don’t sweat in them. The neckline is a gentle v so great for big boobs. I’ve bought 12 and wear nothing else now! I think they may be for exercise but they look so smart with jeans and a blazer.

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 07/04/2021 16:22

@InsideNumberNine they are great aren't they? I find them a bit more 'glam' than bog standard t shirts

InsideNumberNine · 07/04/2021 16:24

@RockingMyFiftiesNot - honestly, I'm buying all three colours again this year just to have in rotation. I lived in them, and for £20 they were an absolute bargain for the holy grail of summer t shirts!

MooseBeTimeForSummer · 07/04/2021 16:26

Someone mentioned them on here - Citizen Wolf made to measure. They’re Australian.

Mrbay · 07/04/2021 16:27

The lady that owns - fairliecurved.com/ - has a G cup and was fed up with poorly fitting t-shirts.

Her reviews are really good and it is surprising how much better you look with a t-shirt that is shaped for bigger boobs!

minipie · 07/04/2021 17:07

I’m also looking for soft colours and finding it tricky.

Places like Lands End and Uniqlo tend to have decent quality but mostly bold colours (teal, red, navy, bright yellow, mid grey etc) and always very solid rather than slubby, faded or heathered which suit me better. The Reiss colours do look good though.

Try H&M - I’ve just ordered a load from there, not arrived yet so can’t comment on quality fit etc but they do have plenty of subtle colours. Currently looking through Esprit which seems to have a lot of decent options too.

Good luck!

Another vote for Uniqlo T-shirt’s. My favourite one ever cost £2.99 from Uniqlo. Is about 5 years old and looks as good as new. Dearer t shirts from places like whistles and reiss end up with weird holes at the front like a mouse has been at them

midsomermurderess · 07/04/2021 17:29

Poetry does some good linen/jersey t shirts and tops.

Nitgel · 07/04/2021 17:32

I really like free people clarity t shirts. They come up big and are sheer

Agree re Rapanui. Very good quality and a nice fit

Sportycustard · 07/04/2021 18:07

I've had some very nice boat neck t shirts from woolovers for around £20 and sainsburys has some lovely scoop neck t-shirt in stock at the moment in just those muted colours. I was so pleased with mine that I've just ordered me. I am blessed of nork too and found them a good fit.

minipie · 07/04/2021 18:25

Agree Poetry has lovely fabrics and colours. Unfortunately all their styles seem to be cut huge - fab if you like the boxy or flowing look but not so great if you want fitted and especially if you are on the small side.

mrsfeatherbottom · 07/04/2021 18:31

I love FatFace t-shirts - so soft, long enough and I get v-neck ones that are very flattering. Not silly money, either and worth every penny.
