10yo Ds suddenly too cool for Boden - where do I get his clothes from

Everything on the Boden site suddenly looks very twee....

I get stuff from supermarkets and m&s mainly but I want to get him a nice hoodie or something for Easter and Boden has always been my go to for "nice" things but I feel he has outgrown the appliqué primary colours stage 😢.

Any ideas?

9yo DS is not a fashion conscious kid but likes fairly plain, comfy clothes. I tend to get them from Next, H and M or Nutmeg at Morrison’s, or MandM direct if he wants something branded like trainers.

ThePricklySheep · 25/03/2021 11:47

You’ve done well to get to 10!

H&M here for everything. Uniqlo is slightly better quality. For birthdays and so on it’s a branded Nike hoodie.

Adskps · 25/03/2021 11:48

H&M or next, depends on what he likes but for a hoodie maybe Adidas or Nike seems the go to for kids

Swearwolf · 25/03/2021 11:50

I go for Next or H&M, I usually either scroll through with him or I go through and pick out a load of options and ask him what he likes, just to weed out anything awful.

mrsfeatherbottom · 25/03/2021 11:52

FatFace?

rbe78 · 25/03/2021 11:59

Mine liked surf brands like Fatface and Saltrock at that age. Salltrock in particualr have got some great hoodies, t-shirts etc, and often have good sales too.

Uniqlo

RayonSunrise · 25/03/2021 12:09

H&M here, too. The best thing about them is that their sizes go up to 14+ and cover that very tall, skinny stage just before a lot of boys start fitting into men's size small. I found that there were many brands that would fit up to age 12, but that 12-16 gap was surprisingly sparse.

Mumof3girlsandaboy · 25/03/2021 12:11

H&M
Next
Sports direct

ohfuschia · 25/03/2021 12:15

My boys like the DFND range, I get it from M&MDirect, good service.

PandoraP · 25/03/2021 12:15

Abercrombie kids. Really good quality. Lots of cotton.

yellowbeaker · 25/03/2021 12:17

H&M has been a lifesaver here too. They quite often do 3 for 2 on their basics and the other stuff is really quite reasonably priced. My nearly 14year old still finds things he likes in there. We are at a point where its all Puma, nike and adidas (which I hate!) but thats teens for you Grin

DaisyandIvy · 25/03/2021 12:19

My boys liked Zara and Jack Wills when they reached that age. Jack Wills we have a retail outlet nearby or I’d go during the sales mostly.

GU24Mum · 25/03/2021 12:25

Mine likes the Saltrock hoodies when he allows me to be something other than slouchy sports kit.

Swishswish26 · 25/03/2021 12:37

I always used to buy Boden for my DS. I now buy John Lewis (own brand and Tommy Hilfiger for their soft cotton), Zara and H&M.

BigSkyLife · 25/03/2021 12:42

We have quite a few bits from GAP when they’re doing 40% off. Great for logo T-shirts, long and short sleeved, and sweatshirts. We’ve got things like ski, snowboard, gamer style motifs.
But they are also great if you need a smart outfit too... really good chinos and shirts. The classic stuff like this they do year after year, so we always seem to have a set.

Vegiereggie · 25/03/2021 12:43

Surf dome is good.

EshSchools · 25/03/2021 12:43

Mine (also 10) told me he didn't want anything from Next any more, only Zara.

katienana · 25/03/2021 13:13

My 8yo likes anything black or camo print. I get his clothes from Next, h&m and m&s mainly. He wears age 11! Try sports brands as well nike, Adidas etc

Hoolihan · 25/03/2021 13:14

H&M, Zara, Uniqlo.

Ineedaneasteregg · 25/03/2021 13:16

Another vote for Abercrombie kids, both ds and dd have a lot of their stuff.
Nice quality and not twee.

FlorisFigure · 25/03/2021 13:16

As above.

Thesearmsofmine · 25/03/2021 13:22

10 year old ds likes H&M and Zara, occasionally hoodies from Sainsbury’s as they sell plain ones in nice colours, some bits from La Redoute too.

ThatQuietOne · 25/03/2021 13:33

My 10 year old loves his St Berts hoodies. Other than that he mainly wears sports stuff - Canterbury bottoms are a favourite, lots of Nike, and H&M basics.

OhTheTastyNuts · 25/03/2021 13:50

My 11 year old loves bright colours but not twee designs. Hoodies tend to come from Hype. T shirts mainly from Next or Regatta. He also likes band tshirts.
