What do you want to wear? White traditional dress, something more relaxed you can wear again, jeans and t-shirt, a prom dress? What's your budget and what makes you feel happy?

Whatwhyhowwherewho · 13/03/2021 09:53

What sort of size/budget?

tinselvestsparklepants · 13/03/2021 10:02

Oooh my first thought is a 1950s style dress. Loads of amazing choices online. Offbeat bride website had amazing real life wedding pics for inspiration when I was getting married - pics of real people of all different shapes and sizes. But yeah, some kind of 50s shape sounds like it would make the most of your attributes! And you could get amazing shoes, too. Happy planning. It's so much fun.

Workyticket · 13/03/2021 10:07

Sorry. Size 16

Budget - not too fussed. £500? Obviously happy to spend less too!

Something like this is timeless and you could go mad on brilliant accessories. Would need some good underwear to create a smooth line but the dress is so low cost hopefully that wouldn’t be a problem...

It would look so cool with great heels and a cropped leather jacket, if that’s your style.

JeanBodel · 13/03/2021 10:10

I had a dress made by a dressmaker. If you didn't go for an expensive fabric your budget would be fine for this.

That's gorgeous!

Drip feed: forgot to mention I have Lymphedema which makes my feet and legs swell so should probably avoid short ones. I do love it though ❤

@AnaisNun oooh that's lovely. Very classy & chic

HummusAndCarrotSticks · 13/03/2021 10:15

What shape are you op? Hourglass, pear? Large of boob etc?

That would be perfect but Covid and time probably rule it out 😟

Big boobs (34hh) Horrible tummy - carry all my fat there and have a c section overhang

Not selling myself well am I? ;)

Laid back wedding on a farm if Boris lets us but I still want to feel lovely

HummusAndCarrotSticks · 13/03/2021 10:20

I am hourglass also!

I love this, but there are quite a few nice ones in Monsoon, imo.

HummusAndCarrotSticks · 13/03/2021 10:22

(I also have the CS hang and am fatter than you btw, 18, but taller. We may be body twins, mine is just on a bigger scale Grin)

HummusAndCarrotSticks · 13/03/2021 10:29

PS: if by any chance you do buy the dress I linked to, it says to size up. They have size 18 in stock though! I checked because I am over invested and love weddings and frocks Grin

PresentingPercy · 13/03/2021 10:39

Monsoon do fantastic dresses up to size 22. Phase 8 also have some good ones. I like ones with short sleeves if you are a bit chubby. A bit more elegant than exposing all!

Rina66 · 13/03/2021 10:39

Another vote for Monsoon, this has a 50’s vibe with the Bardot neck line...Or my second choice with fluttery sleeves, also love @HummusAndCarrotSticks Monsoon choice.

This would work on you too, and it’s gorgeous www.ghost.co.uk/claudia-dress-ivory-ds38ca-m12

PresentingPercy · 13/03/2021 10:47

If you have a tummy, having fabric falling from the waist can help cover that. Dresses that skim over the tummy usually accentuate it. I think these styles are worth a look. 10% off for new customers too.

Monsoon is good but I found mine in John Lewis. It was probably designed as a summer ball dress (pale grey-green).

museumum · 13/03/2021 10:51

This is lovely if your happy to break colour traditions www.johnlewis.com/jolie-moi-boat-neck-lace-bodice-dress/dark-grey/p4827553

museumum · 13/03/2021 10:54

Again. Bold colour choice www.johnlewis.com/jolie-moi-scallop-v-neck-lace-dress/green/p4301450

At 5’2 you’re probably looking at paying to have a long dress taken up but it’s easily done and worth the cost.

Londontown12 · 13/03/2021 11:05

Shape wise how does empire line work on you?

My go to shape is V neck then straight so it skims over the tummy as I have no waist!! Do you have a waist at all? Do you have slim hips?
