Which Dress?

I want a new dress for Spring, to re-enter the world with, but am torn between these two. I'm 5'8 size 10/12. Which one to get?

Dress 1, I think I prefer this dress, but I don't know if I'll get as much wear from it. I do really like it though.

Dress 2, probably more practical, may wear it more, and do like it very much.

Or should I just go mad and get dress 3?

Happy for any other suggestions. Maybe I'll just get all three and decide then!

1 and 2 are a bit... cult member-ish

jazzandh · 11/03/2021 22:04

I like the colour of 3, but would struggle with a bra underneath it, and suspect being quite well endowed, although a similar height and size, that it would make me look top heavy, whereas No2, with mid zip line would be more flattering.

So my choice would depend on my body shape more than anything.

buckeejit · 11/03/2021 22:05

It's a 3 from me! Would love to have the figure to wear any of those dresses though! I might fill myself an imaginary shopping basket in lieu of going to the shops

MoltonSilver · 11/03/2021 22:07

No 3 is a bit special and I think you'd feel good wearing it. A cream blazer would be lovely over it.

ShrikeAttack · 11/03/2021 22:10

I'm not titty @jazzandh, I don't wear a bra.

I've ordered 3, I think I want something flamboyant and joyous!

Any other suggestions welcome though.

Lifestyle? I live in the country and have for the last 25 years. I don't subscribe to 'country style' though and visit the city a lot.

Number 3 is stunning. Number 2 looks like it would be flattering. Number 1 is a bit meh in my opinion.

Catlover77 · 11/03/2021 22:17

Glad you opted for 3, it’s lovely. You need a jacket and a short cardigan to mix it up and get more wear out of it

ShrikeAttack · 11/03/2021 22:19

I've got lots of jackets and cardigans @Catlover77, I'll have a little play on Saturday. May post some pictures for opinions!

  1. I'm not sure about 1&2 but they're more suitable for wintertime.
WinstonsWeirdVole · 11/03/2021 22:34

Ye gods, that’s some expensive polyester!

allthegoodusernameshavegone · 11/03/2021 22:39

Definitely dress 3 no contest

jazzandh · 11/03/2021 22:41

Well if you don't need a bra then 3 is the winner.

Barmbraic · 11/03/2021 22:42

3 is gorgeous. Well wear.

As an aside, as a 5ft2 short arse, is there any point in me tormenting myself looking at Me+Em before I can afford to have stilts implanted?

ShrikeAttack · 11/03/2021 22:42

It'll be quali-poly @WinstonsWeirdVole, I've had some lovely ponte and polyester from Joseph, Me&Em and Winser London, even though I'm a mainly natural fabric fan.

Not all synthetics are equal, and I do keep my clothes, I'm not a fast fashion lover. There's no real easy option when it comes to fabrics, ethics and fashion!

Or we'd all be wearing hemp sacks.

Blimeyoreilly2020 · 11/03/2021 22:44

No 2!!

ShrikeAttack · 11/03/2021 22:48

I have to say @Barmbraic, much as I hate to, Me+Em is probably cut for a taller woman, the palazzo pants are quite long on my 34"leg.

Great tops, knits and jackets though!

(I've got my eye on the leather bomber).

For fannying around in, definitely 3. I love 1 but it will be way too warm for summer, and does look like a work dress to me. 2 is nice, but again, work-y. 3 is for nobbing around on a yacht.

Candleabra · 11/03/2021 22:55

Absolutely love 3. Please post pics when it arrives.

SleepingStandingUp · 11/03/2021 22:58

Glad you've ordered 3, 1 is boring, 2 is fine but Autumn. 3 is beautiful

ShrikeAttack · 11/03/2021 22:58

I think I just want to knob around @Labobo.

Probably no yachts this year though, and I'm not pissing about on DS's dinghy in that frock!

AnnaSW1 · 11/03/2021 23:03

Dress 3. 1 and 2 are so boring.

StarlightLady · 12/03/2021 05:33

Looks like l am too late on parade and I’m only here now because i can’t sleep. It is so difficult to compare 1 and 2 with 3.

I agree with the OP that not all synthetics are equal; the cheaper cottons and linnens often do not wear or wash well.

I like the zip front on 1 and 2, although l’m baffled by the price difference and l would wear either to work. I would prefer a lower back and no more than three quarter sleeves though.

3 is not something I’d wear to a local wine bar (remember when we used to do that?), but great for that soecisl occasion. Not for eating spaghetti in though.

JoanDarc · 12/03/2021 18:25

No 3 😍😍😍
Op, please can you update with pics and chat on no.3 when it arrives? I love it and have a special event to attend in May (assuming it can go ahead). I would love to know if it could be dressed with a belt, it looks cut on the bias so maybe a no, but would be good to hear your opinion

someonelockthefridgealready · 12/03/2021 18:29

Oh love three - I want it now! With a denim jacket and white trainer, perfect.
