Thoughts on jumpsuits?

I’m really tempted by this one. It’s following me around the internet. www.johnlewis.com/somerset-by-alice-temperley-floral-leopard-jumpsuit-multi/p5299972

I’m thinking for a beer garden, with little white trainers and denim jacket but it’s way bolder than anything I’d normally wear. I just fancy a change post-lockdown!

I like that one a lot, it’s a great shape and I like the fabric. So long as you don’t wait til you’re desperate the loo thing is fine.. But jumpsuits tend to occupy a strange sartorial twilight zone. Sometimes they look absolutely stunning and accentuate every good bit and disguise every bad bit. And sometimes they cling to every imperfection and make you look like a toddler who got dressed in the dark. It’s impossible to tell until you try it on.

If you can afford it and like I do see why other peoples opinions count

Buy it and rock it

Life’s to short to live on other peoples opinions Wink

Daffodil29 · 08/03/2021 17:57

I absolutely love jumpsuits and that one is gorgeous

KTD27 · 08/03/2021 17:59

I have an Alice temperley jumpsuit and I LOVE it. It’s the most flattering thing I own. Would get several more if I had the money. Let us know how it goes OP

peachypetite · 08/03/2021 18:02

That is lovely!

Italianmeringuebuttercream · 08/03/2021 18:22

I have a Somerset temperley jumpsuit that I bought pre lockdown, I love it but am loath to wear it because it's an absolute bastard to iron!

MargosKaftan · 08/03/2021 18:37

That one would be ok for the loo situation because you can undo it yourself- I've seen too many with a zip at the back you'd need someone else to help you undo it / do it back up. I draw the line at hoping there's someone else helpful when I need a wee.

Dizzybet74 · 08/03/2021 18:50

I have a few from Sainsbury's and really rate them. This one is lovely but I personally wouldn't pay that much.

Pigtailsandall · 08/03/2021 19:08

I love jumpsuits, especially in the summer. For those of us without a thigh gap, there's a lot less chafing...just don't drink beer at the beer garden!

I recommend trying them on rather than judging them online. They hang differently to dresses. I bought a boiler suit which I didn't expect would flatter me AT ALL but I get compliments every time I wear it

Pigtailsandall · 08/03/2021 19:09

@Dizzybet74 I got a few lovely ones from Sainsbury's too - very soft but they washed really badly! But I guess you cant expect amazing quality at £18 per jumpsuit

mammmamia · 08/03/2021 19:54

I love jumpsuits too and I have loads. I have quite a strong bladder though so the loo thing doesn’t bother me too much.
I like that one but at £99 it’s quite steep, it’s the sort of thing you’d wear loads all summer long then get it out the following year and think ooh I can’t wear that I wore it everywhere last summer! Or maybe that’s just me. Perhaps it’s good value then, I’d probably get 2 summers wear from it then get bored with it as it’s quite a distinctive print.

mammmamia · 08/03/2021 19:56

I’ve also had some nice ones from Sainsbury’s and I second the boiler suit, didn’t think it would suit me but I’ve got two now and they are great.

Wedgie

Loopyloututu2 · 08/03/2021 20:06

I love jumpsuits - as long as you buy one that fits you properly they can be super-flattering. My dh always compliments me when I wear them too.

I really like the one you’ve posted, in fact I’m going to have a look at Alice Temperley as I’ve heard of the brand but never really investigated further!

GwendolineWindowlene · 08/03/2021 20:12

Are jumpsuits a disaster for a long bodied fat person with short legs? Asking for a friend.

ExpectingToFly · 08/03/2021 20:12

That print is absolutely gorgeous 😍 . This website has lots of jumpsuits in similar shapes and a little bit cheaper www.clarenceandalabama.co.uk/collections/jumpsuits

gottakeeponmovin · 08/03/2021 20:13

I wear them a lot. They are comfy and an easy thing to put on in the morning.

Dizzybet74 · 08/03/2021 20:34

@12GwendolineWindowlene I don't think so. I.have quite a long body and the Sainsbury's ones fit me well.. I tried an h&m one though and that was awful and just wasn't long enough in the body. Try a few and see what you think, I get compliments when I wear mine.

CMOTDibbler · 08/03/2021 20:35

I have a star print Alice Temperley jumpsuit, and it is incredibly flattering on me, and really not a toilet problem. I'm stalking other ones on ebay as I like the ruched waist and wide leg so much

Zinnia · 08/03/2021 20:52

@GwendolineWindowlene there is a jumpsuit out there for everyone!

DukeOfEarlGrey · 09/03/2021 05:33

I love jumpsuits and the only issue with the toilet thing is getting cold in the winter - otherwise it’s a lot less faff than alternatives like taking tights up and down or the pain of wearing heels. Jumpsuits are stylish, simple to wear and look great with flats. Go for it OP!

justanotherneighinparadise · 09/03/2021 11:16

I’ve noticed jumpsuits can make some people look like they have a very long backside. So my thoughts are check your arse in a mirror before deciding.

cwtchesandprosecco · 10/03/2021 15:07

Thanks so much everyone.

Well it arrived..... and Iove it so it’s definitely staying. It’s actually super flattering (though I will need some fake tan!) and very easy to get on and off so no worries about going to the toilet Smile

justanotherneighinparadise · 10/03/2021 15:49

I’d love to see it! Can you take a photo?

peak2021 · 10/03/2021 16:58

Lovely colour, hope you like it, but I detest the fashion of things being three inches too short.
