Thoughts on jumpsuits?

I’m really tempted by this one. It’s following me around the internet. www.johnlewis.com/somerset-by-alice-temperley-floral-leopard-jumpsuit-multi/p5299972

I’m thinking for a beer garden, with little white trainers and denim jacket but it’s way bolder than anything I’d normally wear. I just fancy a change post-lockdown!

£99!!????

Sickoffamilydrama · 02/03/2021 20:01

If you can afford it and like it then why not. I love a jumpsuit but usually go for a block colour rather than pattern.

Darklane · 02/03/2021 20:03

Nightmare if you need to go for a wee

Sickoffamilydrama · 02/03/2021 20:07

You see dark I've seen lots of people say that and I have worn a jumpsuits lots including some tipsy nights out & never got anywhere near to having a problem, I have dipped a long tie from a halter top into a toilet before luckily before I'd been 😁

BackforGood · 02/03/2021 20:15

I'm with Darklane - the idea of having to take your jacket off (and possibly bag) and all that palaver when you need the toilet, puts me right off jump suits.

I'm also questioning the price

All that said, if you have the bladder of a camel and the wallet of a hedgefund manager, , then I think it looks nice Grin

ParisJeTAime · 02/03/2021 20:18

Omg, I was ready to say "nah", but that is lovely. I've just bought an Alice Temperley dress in the sale for a lot less than that...so you could wait for sales. But the dress is lovely quality, so would recommend the brand based on that one purchase.

TriciaMcMillan · 02/03/2021 20:26

I love jumpsuits, it's one item and your outfit is sorted! I have a bunch and do find the getting naked when going to the loo mildly irritating, but not sufficiently to not wear them.

That one is cute, although I vaguely think the elastic in the middle might look a little cheap. Pattern is fab though. I have a similarly colourful one from Monsoon which I always pull out at least once per summer and still love.

Having had a look at the collection, I actually prefer this one:

Quite tempted...

pizzaobsessed · 02/03/2021 20:29

I'm with @Darklane and @BackforGood
The thought of sitting in just my bra to have a wee doesn't thrill me 😂

LadyTiredWinterBottom2 · 02/03/2021 20:42

Love jumpsuits. Can be a bit chilly having a wee and l tend not to leave it until the last minute..! I prefer block colours too generally.

mrschocolatte · 02/03/2021 21:48

It’s lovely! If you can afford it, go for it. I’ve been a jumpsuit convert for years and you get used to the whole toilet dilemma. What’s a few minutes discomfort for a whole evening of looking great!

Zinnia · 02/03/2021 22:02

What @mrschocolatte said. I bloody love a jumpsuit, have about 15 ranging from denim boiler suit to black tie-ready. That's a really nice one and I rate the Somerset range, nice quality and not outrageously priced.

youmakemydreamscometrue · 02/03/2021 22:12

That's lovely and would look good styled they way you mentioned.

The toilet situation puts me off jumpsuits all together. I'd probably get stuck trying to unzip it when I'm desperate for a wee or else drop the sleeve onto the toilet floor/down the loo.

PammieDooveOrangeJoof · 02/03/2021 22:18

I love it! @cwtchesandproseccoThe other one @TriciaMcMillan linked to is fab too.

Divebar2021 · 02/03/2021 22:31

I don’t think it’s that expensive when you consider the cost of a comparable top and trousers.

ParisJeTAime · 02/03/2021 22:41

This is such a good point Dive!

@pizzaobsessed

I'm with *@Darklane and @BackforGood* The thought of sitting in just my bra to have a wee doesn't thrill me 😂
Just realised maybe I'm fine with sitting there in just my bra because when I was younger my going out tops were practically a bra 🤣

AHH the early 90s were little halter tops & hipster trousers were the look! Or my favourite a fluffy crop top & mini skirt....glad there's not many pictures Wink

Sickoffamilydrama · 02/03/2021 22:59

Just aged myself I was a teen mid to late 90s perhaps the sitting having a wee in my bra has affected me after all!

Jumpsuits are great as well because the trousers part is usually higher waisted than normal trousers and high waists suit me.

IdblowJonSnow · 02/03/2021 23:09

I love it OP. Definitely get it!

MuddleMoo · 03/03/2021 04:51

It's all fine until you need a wee

BreakfastOfWaffles · 03/03/2021 04:57

I love jumpsuits and have several, both plain and patterned. I agree with the PP re the price - you are effectively buying a top and bottoms in one go. They are so easy and convenient to wear, and personally I have never found going to the loo a problem - just unzip it, either from above or below, depending on the position of the zip. I even have a jersey one that doesn't have a zip, you just pull it down!

sonjadog · 03/03/2021 09:05

I think it looks nice, but it would be a pain of take off and on when going to the toilet. When jumpsuits first came out, I bought one not dissimilar and it was a real pain to fasten and unfasten alone. Now I only buy jumpsuits that are jersey and can be pulled on and off. I guess it depends on how bendy you are!

pommedeterre · 03/03/2021 09:55

I love jumpsuits. Everything I have ordered from Somerset has been sent back though - just doesn't work on me.

LaCerbiatta · 03/03/2021 09:58

I love jumpsuits, probably because for some reason they fit me better than dresses. But also prefer block colours. Have just ordered this one

cwtchesandprosecco · 03/03/2021 10:48

Thanks so much everyone! Totally recognise the toilet point, will just have to see how it goes.

I’ve ordered and will see what it’s like when it comes. It’s much bolder than what I’d normally wear, and at £100 it’s too expensive to leave in the wardrobe so I want to be sure!

Love the jumpsuit op, it’s gorgeous. I wear plenty of jumpsuits, block coloured and patterned, wide leg and narrow leg. Love the fact they are a complete outfit and can be dressed up or down. I’ve never had a problem with using loos.
