Midlife Fashion Crisis: Man Requires Help

I haven't bought any new clothes (other than a pair of Gap jeans) in the year since DS was born. I'm starting look a bit scruffy, and it's ages since DW said anything complimentary as I'm wearing the same things over and over. Boo hoo.

I want to make the effort but hate shopping, and feel like I should change things a bit now I'm a mature man and Dad not an indie kid

Should I ditch the Converse and smarten up? What do you think a bloke in his mid 30's should wear?

See, those Diesel ones would be perfect if they didn't have the Stupid white patches. Gah. Diesel jeans always fit really well, but they're all ripped or over faded.

What a young fogey!

so dye them

Not hard!

DaDaDa · 02/11/2007 15:45

NP, I'll be in pine box before you'll see me in chinos. Or anything pleated front.

I like cords, used to buy them but never wore them. Not sure why. Just don't feel quite right.

those diesel ones ar fine. no stupid white patches as far as i can see. just faded every so slightly

hmmm
may be you should go to M&S...

nailpolish · 02/11/2007 15:46

cords ahve changed loads recently
have a look at the levi cords

CountessDracula · 02/11/2007 15:46

I don't think it is being a young fogey not to look like you have just had an accident with the bleach tbh

You could just get some 501s (though straight not boot of course) I tried on some old ones the other day, they seemed very baggy

DaDaDa · 02/11/2007 15:48

501's make me look like I have womanly hips.

Which I can assure you I don't.

CountessDracula · 02/11/2007 15:49

oh i agree
flat fronted only

Otherwise you look like a porky 80s banker

Beenleigh · 02/11/2007 15:50

bleaching is NAFF! Agree cords could be lovely though. OH has nice camper looking shoes from replay, but can;t find anything nice online.

nailpolish · 02/11/2007 15:59

dadada put some pics on your profile

DaDaDa · 02/11/2007 16:08

OK, just a brief flash though! I haven't got any of me in catalogue model pose I'm afraid... points to middle distance with sweater over shoulders

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 02/11/2007 16:11

actually I think you are right you do need an overhaul

DaDaDa · 02/11/2007 16:12

OK done. Look a bit scruffy on that one actually.

And I'm taking them down so the MN police don't accuse me of sharking.

OP posts:
nailpolish · 02/11/2007 16:12

well yo dont look mid 30s so i think its ok to stick with the coverse and jeans!

wear nice boots and shirts and dark gap/levis/cords and youll be fine

CountessDracula · 02/11/2007 16:14

I can't see any pix

What is sharking?

DaDaDa · 02/11/2007 16:16

Thank you kindly.

So basically as I am, but buy new ones! It's boring being a bloke sometimes you know. But easy.

OP posts:
nailpolish · 02/11/2007 16:18

ihavent heard the term "sharking" for AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGes

DaDaDa · 02/11/2007 16:22

Sharking as in, looking for lurve in a predatory manner CD.

When in fact, I am a happily married (if slightly scruffy) man with an inexplicable Mumsnet habit.

OP posts:
nailpolish · 02/11/2007 16:24

i have a terrible football365 habit
its more addictive thna mumsnet
but slightly scarier

DaDaDa · 02/11/2007 16:28

I used to look at that, but haven't for a while. Who do you support?

OP posts:
CountessDracula · 02/11/2007 16:30

oh god you look fine!

I really wouldn't worry
and keep on with the converse

CountessDracula · 02/11/2007 16:30

i am a gooner
don't do footie sites though, too addictive and i already have my mn and red wine addictions to contend with argh

nailpolish · 02/11/2007 16:33

dont support anyone
dont even like football (much)
dh is a hibee

DaDaDa · 02/11/2007 16:37

Funny that you go on Football 365 then. I know this is Mumsnet but at least I like my son!

My great fear living in London is that my DS will grow up a Gooner, hence the early indoctrination, as shown in my pics.

nailpolish · 02/11/2007 16:40
