Craving the comfort of uggs after the year we've had

TisAFineSoftDay · 21/12/2020 19:27

About 5 years ago (probably more), I deemed my 10 year old short chestnut Uggs to be far too scruffy to be seen in public again. At that time, I stopped wearing Uggs out but I kept the old ones to wear when going to the shed at the end of the garden (tumble dryer and extra freezer in there) or for late-night nipping the dog round the block walks. These current ones can't just be rescued with a clean up as they are actually worn out, with a hole in the toe.

So, now I need to confess I've worn these horrors more than once in public over the last couple of weeks and not just under the cover of darkness! Blush

Do I just accept that right now we should take comfort where we find it and get some new ones? And if I do buy new ones, which style and colour are likely to be the most acceptable in 2021?! I am clueless with fashion as you can probably tell!

Alternative suggestions also welcome please...!

I like the water-proof ones. I love my Uggs. Wearing them tomorrow in solidarity! Like these:

Love my UGGS, and wear them every winter. They have a proper sole and zip, not the pull-on ones.

Why not, they go perfectly with comfy cosy casual dressing.

TisAFineSoftDay · 21/12/2020 19:46

Excellent! I'm loving these first two responses! I love uggs too! Comfort like no other boot has ever been able to provide! And especially that lovely feel of brand new ones...

I haven't worn mine since 2012 but remember how comfy they were!
I had the lighter shade and they got completely trashed.

Really like those waterproof uggs suggested above. I am tempted n

I am regularly wearing Celtic and Co sheepskin boots. They're dark grey and I heart them. www.celticandco.com/sheepskin-boots/womens-sheepskin-boots

I’m longing for another pair - I don’t care if they’re no longer cool, they’re the cosiest thing ever! I’m considering the leather ones in the hope they’d be a bit more practical. I really can’t afford them but after this year I’m going to call it a Xmas bonus to myself.

Baycob · 21/12/2020 21:42

My husband has a pair that he wears around the house after seeing Tom cruise wearing them in eyes wide shut 😂

I’ll be honest I think they are awful looking things except in the comfort of your own home!

cherrypie790 · 21/12/2020 21:42

I've got some chelsea boot style Uggs and lived in them until my bloody puppy ate one of the insoles......... reminds me that I need to replace them.

scotsllb · 21/12/2020 22:02

I have 2 pairs and wear them all the time I don't care if there are in fashion or not I love them

DarlingCoffee · 22/12/2020 00:31

Emu boots here and I love them, just like fluffy outside slippers

soupmaker · 22/12/2020 00:50

I have had a pair of UGG slippers for 12 years. They were men's ones. They have finally died. So DH bought me these to use as slippers www.ugg.com/uk/classic-ultra-mini-metallic-boot/1119484.html. I've also had a pair of their leather Chelsea boots for 4 winters and they've been the best boots I've ever had.

TheTeaFairy · 22/12/2020 05:48

Loving the Ugg love. Can anyone recommend a longish (knee-high?) style for someone with skinny calves? I'd like them to be a close fit around my legs.
TIA Smile

Chickydoo · 22/12/2020 06:24

I wear the knitted Ugg's as slipper boots. Have worn them almost every winter day for 8 (ish) years. They have sadly died. Hoping for an Ugg Christmas sale soon.
I also have 2 extra long pairs, purchased in a moment of madness. They are fab with leggings & long Jumpers.
I also have a pair of Celtic & Co Tan sheepskin mid calf (totally gorgeous)
I honestly don't care about trends, I love a cozy boot.

Gurufloof · 22/12/2020 06:55

The ugg outlet always has cheaper uggs. I've had some bargains.monce a pair of proper leather boots real ugg ones for £70

Or if your really skinted try koolaburra by ugg on Amazon

Can guarantee these are lovely as I have a pair. They are not as heavy as usual uggs. I researched these before buying cos I dont like throwing money away and these are genuine uggs, marketed as ugg light. These probably wont last a decade like normal uggs but what do you want for under £50?

S0CKS · 22/12/2020 07:32

Truthfully hold fire until after Christmas if you can ugg do a really good online sale.

Faithtrusts · 22/12/2020 08:03

I never stopped wearing mine, I have a pair for garden / garage like you but a nice leather knee high boot pair, black plain with a zip and just last year bought ankle fluffy pair. They are comfy and warm and go with so much and last forever... love mine as you can tell and won't be giving them up anytime soon .. x

Spudlet · 22/12/2020 08:06

I’ve been wearing mine on the school run. They’re so warm on freezing cold days. Before this year I’d only worn them out of the house either to go into my yoga class in the winter or after a cold wet run for the drive home, but after this year sod it, I want warm feet!

Bluewavescrashing · 22/12/2020 08:08

Tip- if your uggs wear out inside and the fluff is less fluffy, get some sheepskin insoles on ebay or amazon and pop them inside. Instant fluff saver.

Bluewavescrashing · 22/12/2020 08:09

I have 2 leather pairs and wear them loads. I give zero shits- comfort trumps everything.

ktjb39 · 22/12/2020 08:13

I bought some new short black ones recently when there was an offer and didn't wear them until yesterday - I won't be wearing anything else now! I forgot how lovely new ones are. Seriously though wait until after Christmas when they have a sale.

StCharlotte · 22/12/2020 08:17

In anticipation of working from home again (which has indeed happened), I requested a pair for my birthday back in September. They have come into their own and I adore them. Yes my feet look like clown's feet or Cornish pasties but I don't care. I'm warm and comfy and happy.

I have the mini fluff in black.

Love Uggs.. !
Have 6 pairs - different types and swear by them ...
don’t care 🤷‍♀️ if they are not fashionable.... so comfortable

TisAFineSoftDay · 22/12/2020 13:03

Thanks everyone! I'm now definitely going to buy a pair in the sales and wear them with pride! Going to look at the other suggestions too - all much appreciated!

I bought pair of pale brown short ones in San Francisco in desperation due to sore feet from all the walking and I wore them a bit but forgot about them.
I rooted them out in November and have been wearing them for working from home as my Birkenstock slippers died after several years of loyal service.

I am loving the comfort of the uggs and my feet are comfy and warm! Mine are leather with a suede panel on the heel and they have lasted very very well
