what winter shoes with skinny jeans?

MurderousMaveta · 22/10/2007 11:05

This will be my first winter in skinny jeans.. I can no longer resist their (albeit dubious) allure.. so I've happily worn them all summer with flip flops or those plimsoll-y type shoes but now am going to London and don't know what to put on my feet so I don't look like a golf club... any suggestions?

Has to be knee high boots surely.

fishie · 22/10/2007 11:23

i've got flat mid-calf boots and high ankle boots. shoes would look dreadful on me but i've got v skinny ankles which make my calves look fat (they aren't)

MurderousMaveta · 22/10/2007 11:37

ok so knee high boots over jeans till 'in' then? am in not-very-fashion-forward spain..

not sure boots will fit over calves + jeans but will try..

You may hate this but the dreaded UGG boots come in great here .. failing that they need to be tucked in? just converted to skinny jeans and I like you am still unsure.

Gemy · 22/10/2007 14:46

These look fantastic with skinny jeans (I have them to wear with my skinnies and they give excellent toe cleavage and are easy to walk in + look really nice poking out from bootcot jeans too - as long as bootcut jeans are nice and long)

Plus they come in purple and navy plus the almond toe is so now.

littleboo · 23/10/2007 09:18

saw pic of sienna miller the other day in the shoe boot lace ups
they looked really nice

nailpolish · 23/10/2007 09:22

oh no gemy they are hideous

i wear uggs or slouchy ankle boots

this sort of thing

nangnangnang · 23/10/2007 10:28

Sorry Nailpolish - you can't wear Uggs then say someone else's shoes are hideous (but that's a subject for another thread).

Gemy · 23/10/2007 13:58

thankyou nangnangnang

[Plus poster does ask for shoe recommendations, not boots]

Agree with littlebo though, some lovely shoeboots around....

littleboo · 23/10/2007 17:07

Gemy, I also love the mary jane type with skinnies think they look fab. Some great ones in New Look at the mo and really resonable.

empen · 23/10/2007 17:23

Ugg boots are all well and good - keep you warm and are good for a days shopping (not cheap though) but the winter fashion is the slouchy ankle boots - similar as those shown on nailpolish's thread. Light grey is a good colour. If you can get ones that are higher at the front than at the back then all the better as it is more flattering on the leg!

Gemy · 23/10/2007 20:39

But won't flat slouchy ankle boots give the "golf club" effect MurderousMaveta was trying to avoid? Still think skinnies with some kind of heel look better...
I'd go for something like this:
www.russellandbromley.co.uk/product-page.pl?id=26

(infact, I may well pop into Russell & Bromley this weekend )

empen · 23/10/2007 21:17

Without wanting to sound rude - I think it depends on how old you are as to whether the look will work or not.

MurderousMaveta · 26/10/2007 11:05

thanks all actually like the kind of peter pan flat ankle boots, i reckon they would go really well. just about crippled after 3 days in my knee high boots so think i'll look into some of these.. (I almost resorted to a quick buy of some converse to get me through the last day but as I stared at my rather punky reflection all I could hear was 'GOLF CLUB! GOLF CLUB!)

uggs aren't bad but the price tag just seems so wrong and completely unjustifiable when essentially they are furry wellies

Ballat pumps or slouchy boots with skinnies. Anything else looks whoreish unless you are Kate Moss. Sorry.

LoveAngel · 29/10/2007 22:47

ballet pumps

LyraSilvertongue · 29/10/2007 22:51

Try again.
These

nappyaddict · 29/10/2007 22:52

is toe cleavage good then? that always puts me off buying shoes.

nappyaddict · 29/10/2007 22:57

would these look too whoreish?

nappyaddict · 29/10/2007 22:58

or these?

widgypog · 04/11/2007 20:43

electra · 04/11/2007 20:45

I wear mine with boots that have a stacked heel, wedges or ugg style boots (not pretty but keep your feet warm!)

breadgirl · 04/11/2007 20:55

my dh has just got me a pair of chocolate uggs .. i put them on and they did make me laugh and i felt like a tweenie, but i walk a lot so need something comfy and they go over my skinny jeans too.
I still wear my flats and my plimsolls
