What would you pick?
This is idle fantasy stuff.....so we can't spend it on the gas bill or put into kids pension funds etc
If you HAD to spend this money on a piece of jewellery (or more than 1 thing) what would you select and why?

I collect Georg Jensen pieces so I'd probably put the feelers out for that.
I also like victorian/edwardian pieces so I'd be keeping an eye out for potential bits too.

I have, and I have done, if you see what I mean. And what I did was I went into the hills of the Dominican Republic, bought a lump of the finest uncut blue amber; then took it to a jewellers in Puerto Plata and had it made up to my own design (with advice from the expert cutter, of course). The rock and the making cost just over £800, and it made into three matching statement necklaces / earrings, and two further pairs of earrings and a bracelet. In total, the collections is now valued at over £15,000. And the wonderful thing is that I can wear it almost anywhere at any time and nobody knows how valuable it is, because few people would recognise what it is!

Fair trade gold hair decoration

MindyStClaire · 26/11/2020 17:17

I have/will spend on:

Diamond stud earrings
Ring
Watch
Diamond pendant

ginsparkles · 26/11/2020 17:21

Great choice @TrollTheRespawnJeremy ! I love their pieces!

I would probably choose something simple and elegant, so a pair of diamond stud earrings.

redferrari · 26/11/2020 17:49

Diamond stud earrings or a solitaire pendant can be worn with so many outfits.

RandomMess · 26/11/2020 17:53

I'd get something vintage - as much bling as possible for my buck on a ring - £1k doesn't go far :(

JaceLancs · 26/11/2020 18:28

Definitely vintage - I already have quite a lot of jewellery but would love some nicer Opal earrings

JoJoSM2 · 26/11/2020 18:55

I would like a yellow gold necklace but struggling on the budget.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 26/11/2020 18:57

So expensive for gold at the moment Jojo, I’d be waiting for things to settle a little

DelphineWalsh · 26/11/2020 19:20

I'd have a good rummage around some antique jewellers in Brum and hopefully the budget would stretch and id find a Peacock brooch with emeralds and sapphires some Diamond studs and a Ruby ring.

Florial · 26/11/2020 19:26

I'd put it towards a second hand Cartier tank watch.

MarkRuffaloCrumble · 26/11/2020 19:27

A vintage Opal ring. I have a browse every now and again to see if I can find one I love. If I ever find it and I don’t have the money handy I’ll be very annoyed!

nancybotwinbloom · 26/11/2020 19:41

I'd love a vintage Opal too

WhereverIGoddamnLike · 26/11/2020 19:44

I would buy a whole bunch of fun pieces from Libby Jane and also from Caroline Branchu. They arent pricey but I would get to have lots!

Plonque · 26/11/2020 19:45

I'd go on eBay and find a good bargain.
I've just been perusing and saw a lovely sapphire ring for about £600 that's probably worth about £2k in RRP terms.
Not going to happen this year though, unfortunately! Sad

Half Carat total weight , white gold , screw back (and well under budget)

StartupRepair · 26/11/2020 21:27

Following with interest. I turn 60 next month so have asked (told) dh that I would like a piece of jewellery.

RandomMess · 26/11/2020 21:38

I’ve bought a lot from this jeweller also in the north west

PegasusReturns · 26/11/2020 21:50

I like buying vintage at auction where money definitely goes further but also you get to enjoy the thrill of the chase.

With £1000 I’d go for a couple of gold bangles.

JaceLancs · 26/11/2020 21:50

Got this amazing Opal last Xmas

This

MustardMitt · 26/11/2020 23:28

I probably wouldn't buy anything too expensive, I'd buy loads of smaller bits that I like. I'm terrible for looking after jewellery or just not wearing it.
