What would you pick?
This is idle fantasy stuff.....so we can't spend it on the gas bill or put into kids pension funds etc
If you HAD to spend this money on a piece of jewellery (or more than 1 thing) what would you select and why?

Second hand emerald and diamond ring

A really good quality diamond as it will sparkle from a distance

A Pearl necklace

Some recycled gold turned into something custom made. We have a great local jeweller that melts down your old pieces and turns them into a new design.

Well this is almost double the budget but I’ve been eyeing this up for weeks. It’s so lovely and looks like a copy of Diana’s engagement ring.

I think we should double the fantasy budget or event triple it!
In that case I would have some more Annoushka gold jewellery as I really love her stuff.

So many gorgeous suggestions on here and I look forward to browsing all the links later when I get a chance to really look at them properly

@megletthesecond that's a brilliant idea! I also know a jeweller who will recycle old gold (and stones) and converts them into the most beautiful solid gold bangles. You have just reminded me about that and I must have a root through the jewellery box later!

My local independent jeweller has a pattern book to recycle old jewellery into but it’s all boring, predictable and lacking in creativity. They also work with a designer who can do cooler, bespoke stuff at an extra cost. I think that’s a good way to come in under 1k. I initially looked at Boodles, Bulgari, VCA etc and there was barely anything in that price bracket...

@JaceLancs

I love opals
These are lovely rings 👍🏻

I would buy the gold and tourmaline spider brooch a local dealer was selling a few weeks ago. Victorian or Edwardian, with a red tourmaline head and a huge green tourmaline body. It was quite small. but the stones were beautifully cut and the design was delightful. And then I'd wait for the next treasure.

I recently took some old gold plus a ring left to me to my local jeweller and had a gorgeous square ring made to my specifications and got to hand pick the stone that went into it. I’m so pleased and It’s a great to get it remodelled into something else.
I’d get matching square amethyst & gold earrings to go with it.

I’d love something like this, very over budget though!

Is there anyone else, like me, who loves the artistry of jewellery and how raw stones can be made into something exquisitely beautiful and finished: I only very rarely buy stuff (and really don't want to be bought jewels at all) all that said I almost never wear any jewellery. I adore jewellery to look at. but I wear mismatched earrings and irregular stones for preference.

ThirteenOClock · 27/11/2020 22:23

I’ve recently spent almost exactly this on a pair of diamond studs and a blue topaz and diamond pendant.

I absolutely love your intrepid and fruitful methods though @Moondust001 - I’d love to do that!!!
