Do you style your hair or wash and go?

My hair grew really long during lockdown and I could leave it to air dry with a slight wave and it looked passable. I’ve had it cut now to a shoulder length bob and it looks so scruffy unless I straighten it or blow dry it and it’s slightly too short to tie up. I find it a pain!

Do most people style their hair every day to look presentable?

No, very very rarely style it. I have it cut in a way that means it looks presentable without styling because I know I can't be arsed faffing with it. It's a bit crazy at the moment because I haven't had it cut this year (cut it myself in first lockdown, don't want to go to hairdressers in a mask) but it will be back to being short and hassle-free when things go back to normal.

Bluntness100 · 07/11/2020 13:38

Style it, it looks like shit air dried.

nzborn · 07/11/2020 13:44

Wash and go, now l have short hair l can't believe how fast it dries

Elsiebear90 · 07/11/2020 13:54

This is why I have long hair, I air dry it and tie it in a ponytail most days, when I had a bob I would have to style it every morning before work otherwise it would look a mess. People say long hair is harder to maintain, but I really really disagree with this.

PontiacBandit · 07/11/2020 13:58

I have to blow dry it at least a bit otherwise it takes 4hrs+ to dry. But I don't style it unless I'm venturing out and seeing people I know which I haven't done in months. It's long and wavy and a bit pouffy but it straightens and flattens after a nights sleep.

HeronLanyon · 07/11/2020 14:07

I Never ‘style it’. Used to be able just to ‘wash and go’ but during lockdowns it’s grown long - now I do need to blow dry it or it takes hours to dry and looks a bit ‘wild’.

Nonamesavail · 07/11/2020 14:08

Always wash and go. Mines pretty straight anyway

sugarbum · 07/11/2020 14:09

I only style my hair on special occasions. Otherwise I wash it, towel dry it, and sometimes I might remember to also brush it.

Deathraystare · 07/11/2020 14:10

Wash and go here. Any styling products make my hair look dirty.

lazylinguist · 07/11/2020 14:16

I had my (poker-straight, fine) hair cut into a shortish bob just before the first lockdown. I really liked it, but it only looks good if I blow-dry it and tbh I can't always be arsed. I can't wait until it gets long enough to tie back again! I'll still sometimes style it, but it's nice not to have to!

JonHammIsMyJamm · 07/11/2020 14:22

Wash and go. Wavy & short, fine-normal texture. It dries quickly and relatively tidily. I style it maybe once every couple of months.

Mermaidwaves · 07/11/2020 14:24

I wash it and leave it. Its quite long and wavy and I like it to look a bit wild as I feel it suits my style better, sort of boho, hippyish. I dont feel like myself if its styled.

InFlagranteDerelicto · 07/11/2020 14:25

Wash & go. It's short now, but I did the same when it was long - the only difference was that I had to tie or pin it up. I've always hated blow drying it.

tattooedmummy1 · 07/11/2020 14:25

I cut my own hair not long ago, it's quite long but I have cut a fringe back in. Some days I blow dry and style it, other days I pin my fringe back and pray 😂

tattooedmummy1 · 07/11/2020 14:26

Feel I should clarify, I never used to blow dry it. I only style it if I have a fringe because I have to... Its not a good look to leave my fringe to air dry!

Shmithecat2 · 07/11/2020 14:28

I 'style' it, otherwise I look like Crystal Tipps.

Northernsoullover · 07/11/2020 14:33

Wash and air dry. I have such crap hair I can only wear it in a half assed french pleat. Its poker straight and fine but because its so fine if I don't tie it up it knots around my collar area. Still its in bloody marvellous condition

Aridane · 07/11/2020 14:34

Wash and go

Much easier now it’s longer and falls / hangs better

Sasuma · 07/11/2020 14:39

I wash and go. My hair is quite fine but there’s a lot of it and it has a slight wave. I ask the hairdresser to cut it so that it would air dry nicely and it does - it’s just past shoulder length with layers which encourage the waves and give it plenty of shape. If it’s too long or all one length it ends up much straighter and feels quite flat.

Annasgirl · 07/11/2020 15:26

I am the opposite to you OP, if I have long hair I HAVE to style it or I look like a lost witch. But 2 years ago I cut it to an above the shoulder bob and now I always let it air dry (I don't even let my hairdresser blow dry it). I love it, natural curls - like Jennifer Lawrence Red Carpet hair on a good day.

Scarby9 · 07/11/2020 15:30

Get up. Shower and wash hair. Dress, get in the car and drive an hour to work.
I have always said that I can't work any closer than an hour's drive from home because I hate drying my hair!

2021optimist · 07/11/2020 15:47

@Shmithecat2

Wash and go (and frequently do look like Crystal Tipps!).
CharitySchmarity · 07/11/2020 21:06

Wash and go. It goes straight if I try to do anything else with it.

YerAWizardHarry · 07/11/2020 21:08

When people say wash and go.. do you walk about with wet hair? I shower every morning and can't imagine doing the school run ect with wet hair. Never see other parents/workmates with wet hair either

CMOTDibbler · 07/11/2020 21:11

In between - I blow dry the fringe which only takes a minute, and leave the rest of it. This is why I have long hair - when I've had shorter hair I have to dry it properly every time else its wild, and I just cba
