Has anyone had an upper blepharoplasty and regretted it?

uppereyewobble · 02/11/2020 17:00

I am about to have an upper blepharoplasty on Wednesday (I think it's also known as an eye lift or upper eyelid surgery) and I'm having a major wobble (as my changed username says!) about the whole thing - am seriously considering backing out or at least postponing it.

If there's anyone who's had this procedure and regretted doing it would you be able to tell me why that was. My main concern is scarring and not looking like me. Added to that I bruise easily and I worry that I will look as though I've been in the boxing ring - and lost for several weeks to come!

I have found a very reputable surgeon but I'm just feeling very apprehensive about it all. Did anyone else feel the same?

And any tips to help a good recovery would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance Smile

Mine is booked with Andrea Marando. I've had consultations with a couple but felt most confident with him. He's Manchester and London based. Really hoping I get a good outcome v nervous!

Elderly relative had it done as eyesight being impinged upon and needed it to keep driving. Be aware, once you start it will need repeating. He had it done at 80 and again at 90; he looks 70!

Popsy321 · 21/02/2021 18:13

I had it done about 3 years ago. I had extensive bruising and it wasn't a pleasant experience particularly, plus having the stitches removed was excruciating. I have a bit of scaring but nothing much. All worth it though, as they look great!

gkfsi · 21/02/2021 18:55

Thanks this is really useful to hear your experience. Does your scarring come very far out the side of your eyelid? And are they coverable with makeup?

Popsy321 · 21/02/2021 20:23

Totally coverable by makeup. It looks more like slightly darker skin on me but most people end up with a barely visible silvery line.

Been watching this thread with interest as my upper eyelid surgery now booked for May and bricking it!! How are you all doing?

KatharinaRosalie · 27/02/2021 10:58

Still very happy, I don't wear make up daily and you won't notice any scars, unless I keep my eyes closed and really point them out, as they are otherwise in the natural crease.

Coffeeandbikes · 27/02/2021 20:30

That's great @KatharinaRosalie. Thanks

mylovelydd · 27/02/2021 23:06

@uppereyewobble

Would you mind pm-ing me where you went please?
This thread has made me realise I need to stop messing about and get it done. I'm glad you are pleased with your results, I'd have been panicking too beforehand Flowers

Renlay · 28/02/2021 03:13

@uppereyewobble can I make the same request as @mylovelydd please?! I really want this done and would so appreciate knowing the name of your surgeon.

Also, if anyone else has recommendations for London/SE based surgeons, that would be great. TIA :)

mylovelydd · 28/02/2021 19:04

@gkfsi

Would you mind pm-ing me how much you are paying? I don't live too far from Manchester and his reviews on Real Self look fantastic!

mylovelydd · 28/02/2021 19:05

@gkfsi

Sorry I pressed send before I realised I hadn't said please or thank you!

Have PM'd you :)
My surgery in Thursday so creeping up now. Fingers crossed all goes smoothly

RonaldMcDonald · 28/02/2021 19:37

My mum had hers done. It was surprisingly easy and great. She had it done under local (!)
I was worried it would look tight etc if anything I feel like they could have taken more. It looks very natural.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 28/02/2021 19:40

@gkfsi. Someone I know had work done by this chap. She looks absolutely fabulous, and I now have his details, so I would suggest you will be very pleased.

Ahhh this is sooo reassuring thank you for this! So far he has been great and I am feeling fairly confident. I have 11 days off work which I hope is enough, do you know how long your colleague had off?

This was posted on Gransnet last year - the result is fantastic. Done in Essex.

I'm saving up!

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 28/02/2021 19:59

@gkfsi I have pm'd you some details.

Starbucksbasic123 · 11/03/2021 00:12

I’ve just had a consultation for upper bleph and they’ve given me the option of a general anaesthetic or local? What did you go for op? Thank you

KatharinaRosalie · 11/03/2021 08:06

not OP but mine was local and no regrets - all done in 15 min, and no unpleasant side effects. Didn't feel a thing.

Where did you have yours done? My eyes have been disappearing into my hoods since lockdown.
KatharinaRosalie · 11/03/2021 10:21

Ah sorry abroad so probably not massively helpful in current times. I went to this place: kirurgia.ee/en/

cathyandclare · 11/03/2021 11:01

Thanks for replying @KatharinaRosalie

LilyRose88 · 11/03/2021 13:52

I had upper and lower blepharoplasty done three years ago under general anaesthetic and have been really pleased with the results. I did experience some discomfort afterwards but no real pain. I was bruised and a bit swollen but I bruise very easily so I was expecting it. I had mine done privately by Alex Karidis in London. I had a lower face lift carried out at the same time.

Dontsayyouloveme · 06/07/2021 22:01

I’m getting this done early next year but I’m worried about sleeping upright! I have scoliosis and real neck problems and not sure I can sleep upright without being in a whole heap of pain. Did anyone whose had this procedure not sleep upright and if so, did it really badly affect your bruising/swelling? X
