Has anyone had an upper blepharoplasty and regretted it?

I am about to have an upper blepharoplasty on Wednesday (I think it's also known as an eye lift or upper eyelid surgery) and I'm having a major wobble (as my changed username says!) about the whole thing - am seriously considering backing out or at least postponing it.

If there's anyone who's had this procedure and regretted doing it would you be able to tell me why that was. My main concern is scarring and not looking like me. Added to that I bruise easily and I worry that I will look as though I've been in the boxing ring - and lost for several weeks to come!

I have found a very reputable surgeon but I'm just feeling very apprehensive about it all. Did anyone else feel the same?

And any tips to help a good recovery would be really appreciated. Thanks in advance Smile

I didn't sleep upright. I tried initially. I would start off upright but I'd wake up having spent the night back in my usual position. I was pretty puffy and it probably took a little longer for the swelling to go down because of how I was sleeping but my surgeon wasn't concerned.

@KatharinaRosalie

not OP but mine was local and no regrets - all done in 15 min, and no unpleasant side effects. Didn't feel a thing.
Not possible to do this in 15 minutes.

You don’t have to sleep completely upright, just slightly elevated. I’ve had minimal bruising and swelling and I have a tendency to complications after surgeries.

I’ve had this sort of done on the NHS (also had some additional work) and I would say go for it if your issues are affecting your self esteem. My eye surgery was an hour, tops - insertion of an eye weight, removal of some of my upper lid and a lower lid canthopexy. Amazing.

I can see how people get addicted though!

MoltonSilver and Flambola thank you for your replies. Good to know nothing catastrophic will happen given I can’t sleep upright!! Thank you 😊!

I had surgery last Tuesday. I bought a nurse Jamie pillow and it’s been amazing. Stitches came out today and I am really pleased. I would 10/10 recommend

I have scoliosis too! Had mine done 7 weeks ago and I love my new eyes. I slept with three pillows stacked in a v shape so the middle one was slightly elevated. That worked. Frozen peas for 10 mins twice a day helped a lot. Scars were still quite raised and red at 5 weeks but my surgeon told me to massage them with a good eye cream twice a day for 10 mins and they have nearly disappeared now.

I had this done, one of my best ever decisions. Painless really, a few days of bruising but I was back at work once the stitches were out. I used camouflage concealer and no one noticed a thing. My before and after photos are amazing, I was so pleased. I would highly recommend Mr Mak Tare

Coffeeandbikes oh thanks for the three pillow suggestion! I’ll definitely give that a whirl ☺️
So glad everyone is loving their results. It’s making me even more excited to get mine done!! 👁 👁

The nurse Jamie pillow is really good otherwise John Lewis or Argos do V shaped pregnancy pillows for about £20 which have seen me through 3 facial surgeries and a bit more sturdy than stacked pillows. Good luck it’s a great procedure

How did it go? I'm thinking of having this done

Hi @Starbucksbasic123 mind if I ask who did your surgery? I'm trying to find a reputable surgeon but not sure where to start?

How easy was it to be referred ? I have an appointment with my GP , I have hooded eyelids which are causing issues .
