If you are 5'3 how much do you weigh?

NorthGirl2 · 26/10/2020 18:33

And what size are you?

I weigh 9 stone 4lbs after losing 22lbs. My clothes are size 10 but they feel looser now.

I've seen some comments on this board that above 9 stone is chubby for someone of my height. I am still trying to lose weight so I want an idea of a goal weight to aim for.

Please don’t compare your weight with others on the internet. I get you’re trying to see what’s normal but the thing is there are so many differentiating factors in weight. Check your own BMI, judge by your own level of well-being - do you feel quite fit? Not too out of breath etc? Do you generally eat a balanced diet?

Your bones, your body type, your ethnic background, your genes, it all comes into it. Don’t get obsessed by the scales.

Noti23 · 26/10/2020 23:09

I’m 5”3 (and a half!) and my consistent weight is 7st 4. I’m a size 6-8. Small boned, small breasted and small hips. I’m a rectangle shape. My stomach was flat before having a baby- 2 years on it’s just unflattering.

icklekid · 27/10/2020 06:38

5ft2 and currently 9.6 and trying to aim for 9. A few years ago I got down to 8.7 but it wasn’t sustainable. Then I was a size 8, currently a 10 but some 8 still fit. Best to be comfortable and life manageable than constantly striving for perfection I find!

rubydoobydoo · 27/10/2020 07:14

I think it depends on your frame, I'm currently 8 stone 5 which is me happy weight and have spent most of my adult life losing and gaining the same stone and hoping to stay at this end of it now - I don't think I look too bad at just over 9 stone but prefer being a bit smaller!

BorisandHarriet · 27/10/2020 07:19

I’m 5ft 3 and am generally just under 8st. If I’m at my fittest it can go down to 7st 7 and it did creep up to about 8st 2 a few months ago. It’s my stomach / middle area that seems to grow.

cherrytree63 · 27/10/2020 08:11

I'm 5'3, weigh 9s2lbs, and wear size 10.
I have been as heavy as 13s7lbs.
People say I look slim, but they don't see me naked, my bum drops, my thighs are enormous, my bingo wings flap in the wind.
I was doing some Davin McColl yoga type stuff the other day, the exercise was to kneel down, hands behind you and raise your middle (probably got a proper name for the move but hope you can picture what I mean)
Admittedly I'm not very flexible, but I couldn't get my thighs to leave the back of my calves, no matter how much I tried Grin
Up until 3 years ago I was a lot more active, power walking, c25k, HIIT, I wasn't any lighter but I was toned and slimmer.

StripeyandConfused · 27/10/2020 09:03

How am I told I'm slim when I weigh 9 stone 10 at this height? Alot are lighter than me

MotherofPiggies · 27/10/2020 09:08

I’m 5’3” and 50 years old.
Was 8st in my 20s and a size 12 back then. Am 10st now and still a size 12 in today’s sizing....

BorisandHarriet · 27/10/2020 09:48

@StripeyandConfused I am small boned I think. I know some people say it’s a myth but I don’t look skinny at 8 stone although definitely not fat. I still have a wobble to my thighs. Pretty flat chested too which, as others have said, can make quite a difference to weight.

Weddingin2021 · 27/10/2020 09:56

I weight 65/67kg give or take. So what 10.5 st? I'm a size 8 and I'm currently wearing my new size 25in jeans. Yes I'm overweight but I'm fairly small for my weight.

Your measurements I suppose. Like I said, I'm a rectangle. Hour glass people can be slim at a higher weight.

You don't look skinny at 8st because you're short. Someone our height wouldn't look skinny at that weight.

Gwenhwyfar · 27/10/2020 12:17

"Remember Bridget Jones? 5'4" and always battling to get below 9 stone. Such a bloody cliche!"

Eh? I thought Helen Fielding said that she never told us Bridget's height.

StripeyandConfused · 27/10/2020 12:30

I'm more of a slim hourglass. Measurements are 32, 25,33

Where is the weight going then? I'm jealous of your figure and I weigh more than a stone less than you.
Ilovecheese53 · 27/10/2020 13:21

It depends I probably weigh around 10.6 and I look fine. My top half is tiny 8/10 and bottom half is 12 in clothes. Another poster mentioned that if your quite flat chested and that’s quite like me.

lindyloo57 · 27/10/2020 17:13

I 'm 5ft 3, weight is 9 stone, when i was younger, I am 60 now, I was 8 stone in my teens and twentys, then its crept up to 8st 5, in my thirties and forties, then the dreaded menopause, I have keep it at the 9 stone mark, I wear 10 bottom mostly and twelve tops 34 DD bust, never feel skinnie, always told I am slim.

TurkMama · 27/10/2020 18:44

At 5ft 2 and 10st i wore 12. It depends on your shape.

TurkMama · 27/10/2020 18:49

I think if you are toned and no loose skin then 8st on the dot can look skinny. Not anorexic skinny but the skinny side of slim. Your frame, firmness, body fat and distribution play a huge part in how you look and at what size. Women tend to overestimate their size i find. See what you feel good in, op. T

SundayReilly · 27/10/2020 19:20

Currently 9st but fighting weight is 8/10.
Will get back before end of year.
Age 52 always 8/6 when younger ,
Total hourglass though 34d bust 24 inch waist 36 inch hips .
Depends what I am wearing how slim I look cinched in dresses and pencil skirts or skinny jean /cigarette trousers I look tiny because of small waist looser clothes I can look much bigger.
Also the older you get you need a few extra pounds of face can look sunken.

Supersimkin2 · 27/10/2020 19:56

Same height, at least 13 stone. Thyroid disease (boo) and massive bosoms (yay). Fit as a fiddle despite welter of ailments.

If I'm thin I look like Jessica Rabbit ie slightly silly.

MiniTheMinx · 27/10/2020 20:43

Just under 5ft4 and 8st 4lb. Usually an 8. Have some size 6 mainly jeans and a few dresses. Also have some clothes in a 10, but they are vintage and come up smaller.
I think I've got hollow bones. Had lots of comments about having a tiny bone structure. So, I'm quite well covered. I'd like to look more robust and less Birdlike, but hey ho!
You sound about right OP as you are.

MiniTheMinx · 27/10/2020 20:49

SundayReilly, same measurements as me. Like you I find if I wear looser clothes I look bigger, but if it shows off my waist I look curvey but small. My mother said to me years ago.....get to 50 and you have to decide between your face or your figure. At 48 I'm starting to see what she meant. Grin
