Help me work out DD's bra size and where to order online?

So under bust 27" (not tight), over bust 31". I daren't use the boob or bust method because it would probably tell me she's a 26DD and we'd never get bras for her (plus if we did they would look ridiculous, she's 10).
Should I just go for 28A and see what happens? We're beyond crop tops and the like now as she really does need some support/containment but obviously don't want underwires.

She doesn't want to go bra shopping/trying on, so have to buy online. Any suggestions?

@Frumpypigskin

I used this to work out my daughter's size: www.royce-lingerie.co.uk/fit-guide

This says your daughter is a 32AA

This would mean there is no difference between the underbust and overbust method (ie no breast tissue), which clearly isn't the case. Why do brands still perpetuate this outdated way of measuring?

Why do brands still perpetuate this outdated way of measuring?

Infuriating, isn't it.

I tried a royce on dd actually, like the others of similar design it ran about 1 size small in the band. Not 3 though

14yo DD1 wears the Angel sports bras from M&S - they have a good, wide band and the straps are wider than the usual teen bras which I think look very uncomfortable and prone to digging in - the last thing you want for a girl new to wearing bras. www.marksandspencer.com/padded-non-wired-sports-bra-aa-dd/p/clp22455623?color=WHITE#intid=prodColourId-22455623

She's tried women's bras but as she's very petite (apart from her boobs) we've struggled to find any that fit. When I took back a selection of women's bras to M&S, the cashier tried to explain what size she should be wearing an suggested trying a 34". DD is a tiny size 6/8 and I'm a 16/18 and wear a 34" Hmm

Comefromaway · 09/10/2020 12:34

I would definitely recommend John Lewis & start with 28C or 28D

What about something like this?

WhereAreWeNow · 09/10/2020 14:31

I posted v similar recently. I'll try to find the thread....

WhereAreWeNow · 09/10/2020 14:38

I found it really hard to find non-padded, non-underwired, and non-lacy options. However, in the end I got her this Sloggi bra in a 30B. She measures as a 30C or 28D but when there are no wires involved and it's all stretchy fabrics I think it's more forgiving if the cup size isn't quite right. It fits her fine.
I also got her this Royce first sports bra which is also a really good fit. It's got removable pads.

WhereAreWeNow · 09/10/2020 14:39

PS my DD's underbust measurement is also 27-28" but the 30" bras have been fine.

ChristopherTracy · 09/10/2020 14:41

Another one whose DD goes for sports bras in size Small after conventional teen bras just dug in in weird places. She's much happier now.

IndieTara · 09/10/2020 14:41

My DD aged 11 is currently wearing these in a size 10.
They have different colour twin packs and some moulding inside for a bit of support
She likes them

Help me work out DD's bra size and where to order online?
IndieTara · 09/10/2020 14:42

Sorry should have said they are from Sainsbury's

LethargicLumpOfLockdownLard · 09/10/2020 22:34

Thanks for all the replies, I like the M&S ones.
Will check out the other thread.

A previous poster suggested Royce Lingerie's fitting guide - so I wanted to add that they also have a whole guide to finding bras for teen/young girls - there's loads of great info and advice here www.royce-lingerie.co.uk/blog/blog/teen-edition-lets-talk-bras-how-to-get-the-best-fit

Also some really pretty bras to buy in their teen bras range

clara88 · 14/10/2020 10:29

Yes, i would highly recommend Royce too. I actually called them as we couldn't go to a bra fitter due to COVID and they were so helpful. The lady on the phone went through my daughters measurements and recommended the right size and style bra to suit her. When they arrived they were perfect, they came in a two pack. It made the whole process so easy. The number i called was 01295 265557.

Hi, Royce social media team! Maybe you can tell us why your online size guide still adds inches? We aren't in the 1950s anymore.

[grin][wink][grin]@BlairWaldorfLovesShopping Glad it wasn't just me who thought that!

28D or sister size 30C

OpEd · 15/10/2020 08:16

Boux Avenue do 28DD with an adult fit, M&S do the odd size in 28DD but very much aimed at teens as the straps are really short.

Talking as a nearly 40 year old who wears a 28DD!

kowari · 15/10/2020 08:28

I'm 30 under and 33 over and wear a 30C. I'd say a 28C.
