What to wear on my feet with this dress?!!

EarlyMorningRain · 06/10/2020 17:37

I bought this dress last winter and never wore it because I had no idea what footwear would go.

My default is usually 14 hole DMs which just dont go with it at all.

So, any suggestions..? (Bearing in mind that I usually wear 14 hole DMs and don't do anything higher than a mid height kitten heel.)

Thanks!

Velvet dms!

Platform velvet DMs if you can get them. (Not current range)

EarlyMorningRain · 06/10/2020 17:55

God velvet dms! Why didn't I think of that! 🤣

Only doubt with that is that the dress is a different sort of velvet to the DMs.

You should go to Wellingborough Dr martens factory shop if you can. The bargains they have there are amazing. I got a £169 pair of doc black glitter platform boots for £50.

fantasmasgoria1 😍

If I'm honest, I kind of had it in mind to get something other than DMs. But my feet are small so it's difficult getting anything else to fit that doesn't make me look like I'm walking on pins!

Although, a trip to wellingborough might be in order anyway...

Chelsea boots in black with or without heel? Or can't go wrong with classic black stilettos

Lovely dress

Montmartre · 06/10/2020 18:01

@fantasmasgoria1 you are an enabler! Grin

Ginfordinner · 06/10/2020 18:04

I love that dress

EarlyMorningRain · 06/10/2020 18:08

fantasmasgoria1you are an enabler!

My daughter and I have decided we're going...

I wouldn't wear Chelsea boots. I did wonder about some suede kitten heel ankle boots maybe..?

I never wear stilettos. I wouldn't know what finish to have on the shoes and I'm no good in high heels.

I love that dress

Me too! Which is why I want to actually wear it!! It looks really nice on too.

I have some gorgeous suede ankle boots that I would wear with a dress like that. I wish I had an occasion to wear that dress. It is really beautiful.

Montmartre · 06/10/2020 18:13

the DM Chelsea boots are very comfortable!

Inastatus · 06/10/2020 18:16

Lovely dress. I’d wear it with biker boots to dress down or suede ankle boots as suggested above for a more dressy look.

emilybrontescorsett · 06/10/2020 18:19

How about a low heeled black sling back?

EarlyMorningRain · 06/10/2020 18:28

Inastatus

That's what I was thinking with the DMs. Maybe biker boots would work better...

Ivanthehoe

I really like the first pair! Do you think they would go..?

Not sure about sling backs. Or even what denier tights I'd wear!

I literally wear all dresses with thick black tights ad DMs! 🙄😆

EarlyMorningRain · 06/10/2020 18:29

Oh, they dont do those first boots in my size 🙄

The usual problem...

I'm afraid I'd wear that with my docs too, plus fishnets probably.

If forced to wear shoes, I think I'd go for thin black tights and something court shoe like - pointy, thin heel.
I love the steampunk boots, but think they would cut your legs off at an odd length.

Ivanthehoe · 06/10/2020 18:33

That's definitely the style of boot I'd wear with a dress like that - but I'm still a wee bit of an old goth Blush hopefully today be able to find something similar without too much trouble in your size.

SlopesOff · 06/10/2020 18:35

I would go with the Victorian style boots, you could look around if you can't find your size on Amazon. Try Ebay?

dontmesswiththeGC · 06/10/2020 18:38

Depends what occasion you're wearing it for, or where you're wearing it but I wouldn't wear with boots sorry. Boots look great with pretty dresses to toughen them up a bit but this isn't the dress for that. Also because of the length a pair of ankle boots will be extremely unflattering no matter how good your legs are. A pair of heels will bring the best out of this dress
And if your figure- whatever it's like, either straps or courts but a heel for sure.

dontmesswiththeGC · 06/10/2020 18:44

How about these? The heel isn't crazy high and they're classic enough to wear with lots of things should you need a pair of heels for an occasion.

Yeah, that was my first thought tbh! But I'm 46 now and not sure fishnets are really going to work for me now! 🤣

dontmesswiththeGC

That's what I was thinking but I haven't managed to find a pair I like the look of. Or that I think will go.

EarlyMorningRain · 06/10/2020 18:47

dontmesswiththeGC

Hm, no, they're not really me at all.

Also, dont know if I should wear a closed shoe if I'm wearing tights?

I'm totally clueless!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 06/10/2020 19:10

Court shoes or stilettos would make it look very 80s, and probably wouldn't be your style at all.

I'd wear a dress like that with boots a bit like this and black tights. A bit dressier than DMs, but still relatively casual.

Or maybe heeled DMs?

louderthan1 · 06/10/2020 19:13

I was going to say goth/Victorian/steampunk type boots. That's your style, so go with it!
That's a gorgeous dress!
