What to wear on my feet with this dress?!!

I bought this dress last winter and never wore it because I had no idea what footwear would go.

My default is usually 14 hole DMs which just dont go with it at all.

So, any suggestions..? (Bearing in mind that I usually wear 14 hole DMs and don't do anything higher than a mid height kitten heel.)

Love the dress. I'd probably still wear my DMs with it. I have two pairs of victorian style ankle boots that I pair with dresses if I want to dress up. I think the boots have to be short ankle boots, anything too long would look odd. I've had a pair of lace up boots from Gabor for years....so soft and comfortable but smarter than DMs.

I like the boots but not the heel.

I've got some leopard print ankle boots with a lpw/medium stiletto heel. I think they would be ideal in black. But they have to look exactly like the ones I have 🙄

If it were me I'd go for something more like this but you said you wanted a lower heal which is trickier and less flattering

Closed shoes and tights are fine, shoes like this no tights. Seeing toes with tights and seams is a massive no

I think it probably depends where you plan to wear the dress too. I don't think the clumpy flat knee high boots look dressy enough to wear to a special event, but would be fine with a biker jacket in the pub, for example.

I'm definitely more of a biker jacket in the pub kinda girl.

I originally bought it to go to the ballet but ended up wearing something I already had because I didnt know what to wear with it.

I'm of the opinion that there is no outfit that cant be improved with pair of docs so this one stumped me a bit!

I do like those knee high boots and the first ankle boots. Hm. Ok. Well it seems like I have some thinking to do!
