if I love my fjallraven kanken, but want to upgrade..
crochetmonkey74 · 22/09/2020 13:55
I love my fjallraven kanken- it's light and packs loads in- I LOVE the way it fully opens up like a little suitcase- but it doesn't look very smart- I'm looking for something similar In size and shape- especially the way it opens but something with a bit more of a luxe feel- tried Knomo- they are nice but not quite handbaggy enough if you know what I mean. I'd like to use this backpack for work but also at weekends (doesn't need to carry a laptop) I have an A4 size ipad/MacBook thingy so it fits in most normal handbags

Roka bags? I loved my Boscha backpack from tkmaxx but the zip broke.
crochetmonkey74 · 22/09/2020 22:27
Thanks all, these are good suggestions but still look a bit casual. The ollie and nic is closest, but I'd like one that opens all the way round. Essentially I'm looking for a fjallraven but not canvas, so it looks a bit smarter

I have the very thing. It's from All Saints. They have been doing it for years. Not cheap but I have never regretted the investment. Only bag I'll ever need again. Off to consult google, back in a min...

Ok it's called Kita. £298. They do a slightly larger size also but I think the smaller one is what you're looking for.

Used to come in black, khaki and millennial pink but looks like fewer colours available now.

The Reiss one is currently 20% off too! I'm tempted and I only came on the thread to find out what a fjallraven kanken is
crochetmonkey74 · 23/09/2020 08:39
Cheesey
I like the Kita and I do like how it can be a shoulder bag as well- but it is still top opening - I really like a backpack that zips open almost all the way round- maybe this is the holy grail though!
temp will look at the Reiss one

Juan that's nice- but I'm not sure I like that style of opening- have looked at the Reiss ones- the Lexington seems a good possible but out of stock!

I think something like this would have the sort of opening you are after:

Pollibella1 · 23/09/2020 09:18
Not sure if the link above worked, it's from Fossil (the Tess Laptop Bag), but doesn't look specifically like a laptop bag!
crochetmonkey74 · 23/09/2020 09:39
Polli that Fossil one is great!
I wonder if it is slightly too big- but agree it doesn't look like a laptop bag- that's the closest to what I am looking for so far

I'm not sure if this one zips all the way, can't quite make it out

juan I keep looking at this one!!
I think a friend has just bought this so I might ask for a closer look
crochetmonkey74 · 23/09/2020 10:26
Aworldofmyown I like the convertible aspect to that one, and the simple style but it's top opening not zip around
crochetmonkey74 · 23/09/2020 10:36
Yes fairy I have actually had a knomo beauchamp before but it was a bit too 'worky' if you know what I mean- I want one that I can use at weekends/ meeting friends for dinner after work that doesn't look like a work laptop bag
Laquila · 23/09/2020 10:37
OP I know this struggle. I've been wedded to my Kanken for 7 years now but it's looking a bit grotty and I'd quite like something that every 16-yr old doesn't have. I don't understand why more backpacks aren't made in the same style though - it's such a pain trying to find things at the bottom of a top-opening bag! I nearly cracked recently and bought a Roka one but then saw one in person - lovely but just not accessible enough for me. Have you looked at Nordace? Will watch this thread with interest.
