i did mean my mum about 20 years ago...but she doesn't look that much different now.

She always dressed up and looked like that for work...it's made me want to ring her actually...

morningpaper · 09/10/2007 12:54

lol Cappucino

I don't normally hold placards sending greetings to Cod

Yes you SHOULD ring your mother! She is clearly stylish and terribly glamorous

RosaTransylvania · 09/10/2007 13:01

Loving your style MP. The belt is fabulouso. I want one. But aren't you cold with those bare arms?

morningpaper · 09/10/2007 13:04

I DO have a petticoat underneath

Belt was from Bay Trading a couple of weeks ago - it is nice and elasticated, very comfy and holds in all the stuff that my stomach muscles usually let escape

Dropdeadfred · 09/10/2007 13:13

How tall are you MP? My mum is only 4' 9''....aww bless her.

morningpaper · 09/10/2007 13:22

I am 5 foot

doggiesayswoof · 09/10/2007 13:30

I came on here looking for capsule wardrobe tips... lol at what has happened to thread.

Anyway, like the outfit mp, particularly the shoes.

florenceuk · 09/10/2007 13:51

are you not freezing in that outfit MP? I want to see other people's outfits!
I have to admit I am still in lurve with the comfiness of hte smock but recognise that it should be put behind me (ditto those comfy a-line sweater dresses). As I'm only 5ft2in I think I'll skip the high-waisted flared trousers. And my body does not allow me to contemplate body-con this year or indeed pencil skirts - I haven't tucked a top in my waistband since 1995. So I'm stuck with slightly flarey trousers and nice tops and cardies. I am Kew's target market!

this season I have decided to Show My Legs More (I do have MARVELLOUS legs ) Basically I'm bored of jeans. I am also going to be going back to work shortly (but only, part time), to which I have to wear black or grey, basically. So I have bought the following...

For SAHM wear,
One pale-ish grey sweater dress from Gap
One really nice purple pleated skirt from Ted Baker here but looks much nicer in the flesh. and above my knee - that model has v short legs!
One black wool miniskirt from Gap
One swingy looseknit yet chunky roll neck cream sweater from Gap, looks good with miniskirt
One pair Armani Jeans chocolate brown wide-legged trousers (v nice)
One fitted and belted brown funnel necked brown herringbone jacket
One pair flat Jimmy Choo boots

For work wear
One black Armani trouser suit
One really excellent Luisa Cerano black cashmere sweater with satin bib front and cuffs
One cool asymmetrical draped skirt from Max Mara
One pair high black patent Prada pumps with a square heel

think that's it so far

PoshCod · 09/10/2007 14:16

morningpaper · 09/10/2007 14:20

VeniVidiVickiQV · 09/10/2007 14:24

Ah, finally a post that resembles capsule wardrobe advice

I feel abandoned in the midst of my style crisis....!

OP posts:
VeniVidiVickiQV · 09/10/2007 14:25

If you dont help me, I may end up buying a pair of shants.....

OP posts:
MintyDixCharrington · 09/10/2007 14:25

ha ha ha cod I KNEW you'd hate that post
snurk
don't think we have a matalan around here MP
basically I dress out of Gap or my local Nice Boutique. there isn't anything in the middle sadly

MintyDixCharrington · 09/10/2007 14:26

shants?
is that something akin to (shudder) shoeboots?

VeniVidiVickiQV · 09/10/2007 14:30

Yes.....they are.... sheer pants.....

Cod pointed me in the direction of them

shocking...

OP posts:
MintyDixCharrington · 09/10/2007 14:34

ahundredtimes · 09/10/2007 14:36

I went into Jigsaw on friday, I had to do a thread about it. It's really changed, they have a new designer, is lovely but blardy expensive.

I am your capsule wardrobe lady. I have a capsule wardrobe, otherwise known as a pathetic amount of clothes:

lots of white shirts, with big collars and long sleeves.
Black jumpers from Gap
Black cardigans.
Black straight trousers.
Straight jeans.
Dresses
Tights.
Good boots.
Lots of nice shoes.
A coat.

I am dreaming about a number of things in Jigsaw. I want to buy one of their tabard/pinafore dresses, most of their long boots, a velvet coat, lots of weird shirts with ruched up bits.

MintyDixCharrington · 09/10/2007 14:36

no jigsaw within 50 miles of here sadly

PoshCod · 09/10/2007 14:37

oi 100
blakc
no.

ahundredtimes · 09/10/2007 14:42

Oh yes, I wear a lot of black, and white shirts. I look like a chess board. I like french macs and shiny shoes. I have dressed like this for about 409 years though, at least that's what it feels like.

new Jigsaw in Bath, has long tables and chandeliers and pink table lamps. I want to live in there. Also very groovy large chaning rooms with smoked glass doors.

And there were hunting boots, and a tabard dress. That was blue. I may branch out into blue and green.

PoshCod · 09/10/2007 14:45

saw a owman aged 40 in a pinaofre today
sghe loked STUPID

morningpaper · 09/10/2007 14:49

I like a little pinafore

DH likes the school-girl look

Quadrophenia · 09/10/2007 14:49

I am wearing lots of dresses, with tops underneath not pinafores though, tights, Primark copy uggs which are really very good, even wore in rain today and didn't get wet feet. And also have a selection of coats, none of them particulalry expensive but i like to have different coats to wear with different stuff in the winter.
