My skin - corpse like

Hi,

My skin really from lockdown or so has taken a battering. But the time has come to try and look after it a bit more.

I use liz earle hot cloth cleanser, alpha h liquid gold & olay retinol moisturiser. Minimal makeup.

However the dark circles under my eyes are horrendous. My skin looks dull and corpse like and I think theres pigmentation?

I've had a really shitty time recently, and sleep has been hard to come by. I've upped my water intake. What else can I do? I feel like my gran has better skin at 91 than I do at 37!

Its that bad that I'm actually going to attach a picture - something I never ever ever do, as this is how desperate I am!

Thanks Flowers

Exercise and sleep. It really helps going for a walk to get your blood pumping again.
If you are not eating properly a multivitamin can help because you look very pale.
And be kind to yourselfFlowers

Oh OP, sounds like you've had a really rough time. The bloke that ghosted you didn't do it because there's anything wrong with you, it just wasn't the right relationship for you and he is a cowardly custard!

You have a beautiful face and there's nothing wrong with your skin, it's just because you're tired and have been feeling sad. You should see my skin when I have no makeup on, it looks a bit like spam.

You sound like you need lots and lots of self care and kindness. Life can be so tough but you can make it much nicer for yourself by treating yourself like a lovely friend. I can be really negative about myself, but I always try to ask myself whether I would say or think those things about a friend?

Is there something that you can do today that you'll enjoy, a little treat? Maybe a super moisturising face mask as your skin will be a bit dry if you've been crying, something a bit special for dinner, a good film and some new pyjamas or something? And while you enjoy a nice evening, think of all the lovely mumsnetters who are sending you lots of love and support.

Have started having a fruit & veg smoothie in the morning (loads of green leafy stuff, carrot, banana, apples, berries, mint, etc. Not as gross as it sounds). And I’ve been astounded at the difference it has made to my skin. It’s started to have a sort of smudgy glow to it, like softer and translucent looking.

I’ve probably tended to dismiss nutrition a bit as being a bit of a yeah yeah, goody too shoes approach (I want active ingredients with hardcore results!!) but it does actually seem to make a difference. Who knew Grin

Id stop using the sp50 and get fresh air and vitamin d on your skin, cut out caffeine amd alcohol. I had bad dark rings under my eyes in late 20s single mum stressed and too much sugar it showed only in that part. My skin to be fair has always been blemish free but when I’m tired and stressed I get dark circles.
But touché eclat amd tinted moisturiser when just a short while.
Your life won’t always be like this so just try so best you can. Big hugs
