I like these boots but not sure if they're actually fugly?!?

Bought these today from TKMaxx. Currently wearing them around the house to check comfort and make sure I really like them. I like that they have a heel but are still sturdy, have good grip for winter, and they are soft and comfy to wear. I'm pretty sure past me would have said they were fugly though current me quite likes the look of them. Reassure me (or bring me to my senses before I remove the tags) Grin

Well they're comfortable and you obviously think they look nice else you wouldn't have bought them.

Take the tags off and care a bit less what other people think perhaps?

Keep them. :)

nitgel · 09/09/2020 17:29

90s boots Grin they'll be great for winter

PatsyPet · 09/09/2020 17:32

I like them, on trend

TeensArghhh · 09/09/2020 17:33

My DD has just thrown a pair out. They are the same style but different colour. Hers are more tan colour and a suede material. She threw them out because she’s had them for years and they are looking a bit tatty. She said she would get another pair as they are the most comfy boots she has worn.

Take the tags off and keep them OP. Nobody is going to look at your footwear. You like them that’s all that matters

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 09/09/2020 17:34

I like them!

Craftycorvid · 09/09/2020 17:35

Yeah, 90s boots, which is currently very on-trend, no? They look nice with your jeans and will probably look good with dresses too - and at the end of the day, if you like ‘em, wear ‘em and let no one question your decision.

thenightsky · 09/09/2020 17:40

I've just got some very similar and am having the same dilemma.

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 09/09/2020 17:41

It's not so much caring what others might think but wanting to clarify in my own mind what I think iyswim. Like when you talk something through with someone else and come to your own conclusion? I think I will take the tags off. They have almost exactly the same heel as a pair of jelly shoes a friend of mine bought from the same TKMaxx in the 90s which I always coveted but they hadn't my size and I didn't have the confidence to tower over others then (I'm quite tall). Now I don't care about towering. Yay. Grin

I have boots like that. They are comfortable and I like them, so I wear them.

LyingWitchInTheWardrobe · 09/09/2020 17:50

OP... but what would you do if posters were saying they didn't like them for x, y, z reason? Any decision to keep the boots would be forever tainted.

I was sold on them when you said they were comfortable. I can't tell you how many pairs of 'hurtful' shoes I've bought because they 'looked nice'. They might but they hurt and it was ridiculous to buy them. I now have dozens of pairs of shoes I have to sell.

You seem a lot more sensible than I am. Keep them! Grin

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 09/09/2020 17:56

I have removed the tags and worn them into the garden so no going back now! I have had many many many uncomfortable shoes in the past, and still have some I cannot part with but cannot wear for more than an hour or so in my cupboard BlushBlush
I have an absolute rule now that if they aren't comfortable I will not even give them a chance. I use to think they'd wear in, I don't bother with that now. I rejected several v nice boots today for lack of comfort. But my sensibleness in this regard is hard won 😂

dontgobaconmyheart · 09/09/2020 17:56

It would depend how much they were for me. They don't look expensive (not that it matters for every day footwear). I do like them from the front but think the fact they're heeled makes them less cool but they're probably versatile so a good idea to keep if you like them OP, they sound a good fit for you and it sounds like you want to keep them! I'm at the point that I'll keep any footwear if its comfortable (am early thirties) so can't judge anyone really.

CarolVordermansArse · 09/09/2020 17:59

Comfort is important, but I loathe that sort of heel, I know it is popular though.

PeaceLoveAndCandy · 09/09/2020 18:01

I like them

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 09/09/2020 18:42

I used to loathe this sort of heel carol which is why I was wavering, but I think I have to accept that my tastes are totally influenced by fashion.

espressoontap · 09/09/2020 19:00

Love them!

Pixilicious · 09/09/2020 19:15

Not my cup of tea but they’re ok

2Kidsinatrenchcoat · 09/09/2020 19:18

I love them! Wish I could wear ones like that but I’m 5’8” barefoot and don’t have the confidence to rock the super tall look!

ChelseaCat · 09/09/2020 19:22

LOVE them! Glad you’re keeping them OP

I’m going to head to TK tomorrow and hope they have some too!!

BewareTheBeardedDragon · 09/09/2020 19:33

They’re great boots. I would love them too but tend to get ones without the high heel because of height but go for it !

Bumble84 · 09/09/2020 19:40

I like them. Personally I don’t go for boots with much of a heel but that’s a comfort thing so if you find them comfy I’d definitely keep them. They’ll go with dresses and tights and jeans.
